Nothing there says I have been wrong with my concerns about lorefriendliness. Also, he said PLAYABLE races. Lumia and centaurs never were their own nation-states, which is what use to be the defining status for playable races in ES games.

We have 10 playerable races with deep background and history. Adding anymore will just confused the waters. More is not always better. Let us enjoy what we have. ZOS has plenty of room for new content -- most of the land mass is not design yet and also they are the Oblivion planes on top of that -- 17 of them. Each plane can be the size of several ESO in and of themselves!8 -

I don't see them making these playable though, Goblins are generally stupid, where Orcs are not. I've always wanted to play the Maormer, Kothringi or Dwemer as well, but that is not part of the theme. The point is that these races died out or disappeared. Squishy✭✭✭Well, I forgot which game had this, but once you unlocked a high level, you could play as a monster, only, it was in their own world/instances, with their own stories and quests.
Taking this into a plausible way of implementing the OP's wish, just for argument/discussion's sake, it would then open up a 4th faction in pvp, player controlled monsters.
I agree that having giant snakes, lamias, hags etc, roaming in Tamriel would not work, if they were in their own areas, like an oblivion plane for example, then I do not think it could harm the game or the immersion.

Call of Duty Ghosts let you play as a dog, so it's only reasonable that ESO should too! I, for one, am disgusted by the lack of thought put into this game. Actually, there are a couple that could be playable without any lore issues. Maormer are still around in this time period (as anyone who has played in AD knows well), Kamal from Akavir would be plausible (an invading army of them was recently defeated by the members of the Ebonheart Pact, and we know that some of them survived), Imga are totally possible as members of the Aldmeri Dominion(heck, they practically worship the Altmer), Sload would definitely be possible (although I think they would be a terrible option for a playable race due to how badly they move on land).There can be no other playable race on this continent.
Not saying I think it would necessarily be a good idea to add those to the game as playable races, but it could certainly be done and still be totally lore-friendly.
Edit: I should note that I intentionally left out Falmer, Rieklings, and Goblins from my list, as they are all too primitive to really be made into a playable race IMO.Edited by UrQuan on May 24, 2014 10:08PM

Well, AFAIK it's never been stated that they can't use weapons, just that they have limited tool using capability. One way or another, though, they'd be a poor choice for a playable race, as they'd almost have to have their own class (or classes) and not be able to use the classes that other races use.
I'm fairly certain that neither the Imga nor the Kamal have ever made an actual appearance in an ES game - just in the lore. From the little we know about them in the lore, they seem to be intelligent like the other playable races. At a minimum they've got working societies and distinct cultures. We really don't know much about either race, though, so it's possible that their levels of intelligence and culture are more along the levels of goblins than man and mer. That seems pretty unlikely in the case of the Imga, though, given that we know how obsessed they are with proper manners and pronunciation, and that they consider men to be an inferior race.Play as a ape and a demon? No. Dwemer have long since been extinct at the time of ESO's setting. Snow Elves, there are only two left of, in a hidden valley in Skyrim. Falmer - how would you realistically play a _blind_ race? Besides, there is no evidence of Falmer outside Skyrim (OK, Solstheim, but that is not in the game at this point) so it would kinda limit the opportunities....0 -

So state your lore source dictating Lamia is unsuitable for a player race. Go on. I dare you to make an intelligent, well thought out and researched post on this forum.
The lore is not clear on Lamia really and this game makes them quite accessible and you can choose to side with them on at least one occasion. T
In the end this game will have to move on past the 3 faction setup in some way and expansions leave room for all sorts of races.
The Lamia only appeared in Daggerfall and have not been seen in any other game until now. They are generally aquatic (as are Argonians) and they regenerate health at a faster rate so there is one racial passive we know about. They drained fatigue in that game so I guess that would equate to a Stamina absorption in this game,
Threads like these are not totally serious and there has to be room for a bit of light hearted speculation in General Discussion.
