It was mainly annoyance that we were expecting 1.1.2 to improve quality of game play but it just made it worse, I have literally every weapon leveled on my nightblade and there are multiple builds that work really well, nightblade healers in particular along with lightning staff impulse builds and nightblade two hander assassin, but I also understand that people may not want to play like this, I for one don't like the current build I am using (resto staff with two hander off hand) as I find the playstyle boring and repetitive, I would love to be a high dps bow user but the current state of game is no making that easy.

The people aren't just whining for the hell of it, they are annoyed that what they want to play isn't good enough to actually play properly. They feel inferior, it feels like they are being cheated out of their fun.

I have no evidence to back it up, but the rapid strikes animation seems to take longer now, and no longer transitions smoothly into my next skill use. My nightblade is slower, and her DPS has taken a hit from it. It may be related to the skill - locking fix that was rolled in.

My nightblade is still viable to pve, but has lost a large portion of her hyper/tasmanian devil feel. She's just not as fun after the patch. If damage was increased across the board on weapon skills to compensate, her dps would go back up to the 340 area but she'd still feel like she was fighting under water. Please take a look into the channel timer and animation duration for flurry and it's morphs.

It feels like my squishy nightblade is somewhat better in solo content. She still is much better helping out in a group than trying stuff alone though.

As much as I hate agreeing with ***, I'm seeing the same thing as Zxaxz. Maybe some rare weirdness with mobs attacking while stunned but everything looks fine. Killer's Blade is consistently healing now and the difficulty is back to normal(maybe a bit easier). All in all looks good.

Yesterday in Pvp, if someone was above my character such as on a hill, ambush would not work. My character would go through the animation, but remain in place, dealing no damage and not even exiting stealth.

This happened well over 25 times.

Add that to you list of "coming content updates" which should be hot-fixes.

Am I the only NB that uses Soul Harvest (Assassination Ultimate) and Soul Tether (Siphoning Ultimate) ?

My main spec is Dual Wield and to use Soul Harvest. I Ultimate builds up so quick that I can use Soul Harvest at least once on every single mob. Since the patch, Soul Harvest and Soul Tether do much less damage, especially out of stealth.

My Concealed Weapon does ~1260 out of stealth and Soul Harvest does ~630...

Why does a regular skill do 2x the damage of an ultimate?

@Tosalius‌ because you're not actually getting the stealth bonus for your ultimate. I believe this is due to the animation breaking stealth before it gives the bonus.

I know no game is perfect, and has their bugs. Should anyone refute that, I stand shoulder to shoulder with you in that they are being unreasonable. Where I part ways, is where that line of reasonable margin of completeness lies.

I don't think what I got for £90 plus the 3 time card offers I got on discount when I bought the game is worth that money. Which is why I will not redeem the second of the three time cards, once this current one expires for a few weeks. I don't think it is complete enough second month in.

You may disagree, and that is cool. I take no issue with personal opinion, or have any right to say you should think differently.

Do you use Soul Harvest right after it comes up? It makes a pretty huge difference if you build it all the way to the max overcharge (the animation changes to let you know, you do this spinning thing instead of the vertical slicing motion). I don't normally use a combat log, but my damage with Soul Harvest was lower than with Concealed Weapon before the patch only if Soul Harvest wasn't fully charged.

(There are also addons that show how much ultimate you've generate over the 50 required to use the ability. I think around 250 gets you the max damage.)

Not that I'm grumbling or something, but unexpectedly casting Pulsar (Impulse morph) on mob-group replenishes my Ultimate count enough to spam-cast Veil of Blades in 1-2 seconds.

I'm even able to cast another Veil of Blades before the first one wears off.

As far as I know, I was supposed to get 1-2 Ultimate points for attacking with Siphoning skill and the kills. But that's surely not 200 Ultimate points just by attacking. Also, Pulsar is Destro-staff skill (not Siphoning!), so something is clearly going wrong. (The stronger mobs are the quicker my Ultimate-bar replenishes.)

Not that I dislike it. At least, I'm able to kill something before DK. Sometimes. Just wondering if it's intended or not...

(today's children) Not only do I say, I bring proof in Video and I get edited....You all just spout random BS on the forums, even admit, 'I have no evidence, I just feel it', and get away with it, with out anyone calling your BS. Put up your Video's or STFU.

If you wish to quote me, please do so in context. I wasn't bringing forward a complaint of a bug, and the post even went so far as to say that the nightblade stamina build was indeed viable. What you have done however, is broadstroke bashing of the entire population of this thread in order to stroke your own ego by touting what you "think" are skills as a l33t player.

I watched your video that you should've saved your time in making. It was not informational (didn't go into details about the build, loadout, or rotation), didn't address the concerns of the original poster, and even fell short if your goal was purely entertainment. I've read your posts where you quite correctly state that you're not a very good player of the nightblade class, and yet again you should've saved your time. They were not informational, didn't address the concerns of the original poster, and even fell short if your goal was purely entertainment.

I've now read your backhanded apology to the people contributing to this thread, and yet for a third time find that you should've just sat on your hands. All you're doing is making yourself out to be a pompous ass... and I'm sure that wasn't your intention.

The nightblade class has bugs. Zenimax has acknowledged some of these which is why the thread was started. Zenimax had increased the difficulty of mobs in the veteran content. They have acknowledged this, and have rolled it back to where it was. Since adequate balance cannot even begin to happen until you have a playing field where intentions are brought to the table (because they're just plain not working), it is imperative that the bugs of the nightblade class be addressed.

Many of us have waited patiently for this to happen, and expected it in the Craglorn update. When that didn't happen and it was shoved back to another major revision release, the original poster has every right to voice his or her concern over whether or not Zenimax is taking the class seriously as a whole. You coming forward with "Nightblades aren't broken, look at me mom! Look what I can do!" is firstly founded in error (since both parties of the thread recognize the bugs for what they are), and secondly against the spirit of "Play your way" (since a facerolling baboon could spec, gear up, and get a vampire bite the way you did and in most cases, outperform what you're bragging about through a stream).

Now that I'm done force feeding the troll, I would like my spoon back. I just hope I crammed enough in there to keep you too busy to type again.

I had a lot of misses in animation canceling today, and the longer I played the worse it got.
Opinions are like buttholes : Everybody has one, and they usually stink.

    3 things to reduce stamina/magicka imbalance :
    - Use magicka to block abilities costing magicka, instead of stamina.
    - Add % damage reduction to heavy armor.
    - Add block penetration to 2H.

    Incoming Fixes & Improvements
We have ongoing efforts to improve the Nightblade class, and fix some of the outstanding issues. Below is an early look at some of the incoming fixes and improvements you will see in content patch 1.2.X.
    • Incapacitate will increase heavy attack damage.
    • Incapacitating Strike will now be capable of critical strikes.
    • Master Assassin will increase spell power in addition to weapon power.
    • Path of Darkness damage will be increased. The ability will also be visible to all players.
    • Refreshing Path will heal allies. The healing will also be slightly increased.
    • Refreshing Shadows will always be active, and will no longer require you to use an ability.
Also worth noting, there were three Nightblade class abilities impacted by this general combat note from the 1.1.2 patch notes: Fixed an issue where a number of abilities were not properly able to cause critical strikes.

The abilities impacted by this fix were:
    • Impale (Assassin’s Blade morph)
    • Killer's Blade (Assassin’s Blade morph)
    • Sap Essence (Drain Power morph)

    Outstanding Known Issues
Patch 1.1.2 fixed many outstanding Nightblade issues, but below are some that we are either actively investigating, working on fixes for now, or have recently fixed and will push in a future patch. Please note this list does not reflect every reported Nightblade issue we are currently investigating.

General: Currently, a Nightblade’s own residual outgoing damage-over-time ticks break his or her invisibility. This is not intended, and will be fixed in a future patch.

Dark Cloak (Shadow Cloak morph): Dark Cloak is not currently removing damage-over-time (DoT) debuffs as it should be. We’re currently investigating this issue to determine which DoTs are not being removed by Dark Cloak.

Haste: Haste is not currently applying the 30% attack speed increase to ranged weapons as it should be. We are working on a fix for this issue.

Mark Target: Mark Target currently allows you to see and attack targets that are sneaking, but not ones that are invisible. We are working on a fix for this issue.

Path of Darkness: The PFX for Path of Darkness and its morphs will sometimes appear under terrain. We are currently investigating this issue.

Pressure Points: This passive ability is working as intended, but there is a bug with the character sheet not correctly displaying the critical strike rating bonus. We have a fix for this, and it will go out with a future patch.

Siphoning Attacks: This ability’s tooltip will no longer says that it restores health. It never restored health, nor was it intended to. This is a tooltip bug. We have a fix for this, and it will go out with a future patch.

There are so many other "known issues" that you guys simply refuse to address or dont know of somehow.

Killer's Blade still stops healing you after you die. Die once, need to relog almost every single time because the ability stops working. this problem has existed since the inception of the ability.

Abilities like Uppercut (morphed to Wrecking Blow) dont seem to give the power bonus to anything except basic mouse attacks. It certainly doesn't work on any class abilities.

Veiled Strike sometimes animates and stuns the opponent but causes no damage and drops you from stealth.

Clipping Uppercut with another stun causes the Uppercut ability to not knock an opponent back, yet you can still stun and knock down an opponent with a heavy attack. This inconsistency really hurts combat fluidity.

I like that you acknowledge that the class needs some serious fixing, but it goes far beyond what you mentioned. It's a lot of little bugs and glitches that add up to be a very frustrating experience for us.
  • Hedonist_Jester
For those of you who may perhaps like to see a loadout/build/rotation that is full MA stamina DW Nightblade -
Any race works for this, although most would like to use Khajiit for it's bonuses to critical chance. I used imperial for the ease of hitting attribute softcaps. If you want to go Vampire, Dunmer also makes an extremely attractive choice.

For gear, you're looking to a 0/7/0 full leather build, or possibly a 1/6/0 or 0/6/1 depending on set items. I've done both, using the Cowl of the Warlock or the Crest of the Dragon as my seventh piece... but I find 3% critical hit chance per non-MA piece makes going with 2 off-types a matter of pushing it a little. You can get away with it as a Khajiit I'm sure... but there's also the matter of cheaper roll/dodge to take into consideration, and this build doesn't exactly end up hurting for magicka too terribly.

Weapons are specific. Since you're going dual wield, the attractive Twin Blade and Blunt passive pretty much tells you that you want swords or daggers. I went with daggers, both using the precise trait. My DPS went up a bit over using the armor penetration trait, and criticals are key. While I carry a pair of maces with armor penetration on them (enchanted with crushing), I pretty much only do this for PvP when I'm stalking a tin can... and it works. Both of my daggers use irresistable damage glyphs, and are of the Night Mother's Gaze set... criticals are key  .

Armor sets are of Hunding's Rage. I used this set before when it was a flat 5% increase, so there's no reason not to use it now that there's a bigger boon to doing so. Traits on the armor lean more toward the armor bonus one, since you end up falling a little short here, and I absolutely hate having to waste a skill slot on an armor active. Infused is also highly viable for the head, chest, and legs (since they have full enchantment bonus). Season to taste with enchantments, making sure you get as close to your health soft cap as possible. If you can cap all three, do so... but if you find you're going to have to choose between magicka and stamina for the other attribute, there are a few things to keep in mind:
    [*]
    • Your medium armor at 7 pieces (or even six) should provide enough stamina regeneration to make your max stamina a purely damage question.
    • If you're opening with Suprise Attack, 1600 - 1900 damage is a lot to pass up. Magicka soft capping here is really really nice.
    • You always have leeching strikes to fall back on. Don't be afraid to split your stats since Leeching doesn't play favorites on your pretty colored bars.

Jewelry is harder to gauge. If you're a vampire AND you're not Dunmer, you're going to want a fire resist necklace or ring. You'll also most likely want an armor necklace or ring unless you plan on making fights dicey by healing more. If you're not a vampire, this will free up a jewelry slot. One option would be to go with the Clasp of the Dragon instead of the crest, and use werewolf hide rings and helmet. I recommend this move if you're not a vampire, but you'll want to run with either Immovable on your primary bar, or Shadowy Disguise for it's passive armor increase. The gear below assumes you'll want fire resist, and renders the above option moot.

So we're looking at a gear loadout that resembles this:
Critical Dagger of Night Mother's Gaze with irresistable damage x 2
Boots of the Night Mother's Gaze
    Jack of Hunding's Rage
    Arm Cops of Hunding's Rage
    Guards of Hunding's Rage
    Bracers of Hunding's Rage
    Belt of Hunding's Rage
    Crest of the Dragon
    Necklace of Fire Resist
    Weapon Damage Ring
    Weapon Damage Ring

Your switch weapons are a pair of Claw of the Dragon, which are dual wield swords for the purpose of your twin blade and blunt passive - as well as triggering the ultimate set bonus when you switch bars.

What we've done here is effectively added another set to our loadout, and freed up our ultimate on bar 1 for Soul Harvest. This will provide an even bigger boost to ultimate gain, as well as the now-working 3% MORE to our critical chance! Our bar 1 looks like this:

    Suprise attack
    Rapid Strikes
    Agony
    Killer's Blade
Leeching Strikes (invigorating drain if vampire)
    Soul Harvest

Your second bar looks something like this:
    Power Extraction
    Steel Tornado
    Rapid Strikes
    Refreshing Path
Swallow Soul (invigorating drain if vampire)

For packs of two, simply enter into stealth, approach from the blind side, and open with your surprise attack. Your critical hit percentage, increased weapon damage, and reduced enemy armor is enough to make (two at most) rapid strikes finish them off. It is now a 1v1 battle where Killer's Blade will leave you ready for your next pair and minimal time spent.

For packs of three, the same applies - but take a moment to Agony the third (preferably caster), and save them for last. Don't worry - the fight won't last 12 seconds.

For packs of four, you want to surprise attack the first, agony the second, and check your ultimate counter. Remember - archers and mages are your agony targets. If you have 213 ultimate to spend, swap over to bar 2 and fire off Veil of Blades (devouring swarm if vampire). If you don't, your rapid strikes adds anywhere from 7 to 50 something ultimate per use because it builds on a per strike basis - and your soul harvest will bag you an additional 7 per kill. Finishing off the first mob may be worthwhile to reach ultimate. If you dove into this fight without any ultimate, or you're abushed - rely on a potion and chastise yourself for not paying more attention. You probably still won't die after the vet content level rollback.

For packs of five, you switch to bar 2. Don't bother opening with surprise attack - you'll probably be detected anyway with the pack spacing and you don't want to be bar swapping when five mobs swing on you. Open with Power Extraction, and dodge roll forward or backward. This will nullify any heavy attacks or special attacks that come from the initial agro, and will leave you with enough to: Tornado. Do it again. Do it a third time. This isn't your build from last month where you got sick of Whirling Blades because the mob still had half health after unloading a bar of stamina into it. This is a build that has now surpassed your weapon damage cap, and is boasting a standing 45-50% critical chance. These tornadoes will hurt like the dickens. When you run out of stamina, if there's mobs still standing you've regenerated enough magicka to Swallow Soul them down. Besides... your light attacks here are at 155% weapon damage and with 50% critical.

Bosses come in two flavors. The single dot bosses can be killed without having to rely on any more than a pair of swallow souls at most. Your bar is Surprise attack, Rapid Strikes, Agony (if it's an add boss)/Shadowy Disguise (if it's not), Killer's Blade to execute, and Leeching Strikes to sustain. Since your ultimate won't be building up too fast off of one mob, you can also swap out Soul Harvest for Veil of Blades directly and ignore your second loadout. Open with Surprise attack... if she's stunnable, you can get three rapid strikes in before she comes to: and her health will be almost nil. Finish with Killer's Blade. If she's not stunnable, pop swallow soul on her after the surprise, shadowy disguise yourself to boost your armor through the passive, and unload with those three rapid strikes. If the boss has adds, agony works wonders to lock down. A two dot boss may take too long for agony alone, so activate leeching strikes and pack a lunch. You'll also want another form of healing available, so ditch that agony and plug in refreshing path. Leeching strikes will keep you in resources enough to where you'll become a two dot boss of your own... and your enemy doesn't crit near as much as you do.

I'm not going to go into detail about PvP because I don't know whether or not you Aldmeri scum are out to get me. I can say that an Ambush followed by a rapid strikes with daggers will make a mage squeal like a pig if they didn't see you coming. If they did, you're going to want to dot them up and immovable is your spell resist friend. A tin can DK isn't so bad either with dual armor piercing maces, night mother's gaze, and a metric boatload of critical chance. It's the clothy DKs that will really wreck your day if you don't get the drop on them.

Haste needs a serious look at. As it stands it provides absolutely no or at best a very, very minimal dps increase even if spamming exclusively light attacks. Utter waste of an ability slot.

The current state of the Nightblade is absolutely inexcusable after almost 2 months...

This isn't directed just at you, really, but way too many people have this absurd belief. Do you honestly think that Zenimax has no idea what's going on? That they simply do not care? That they "refuse to address" problems? Why would any game developer ever refuse to address problems? What good would it do them? Do you think they honestly wanted to spend years to develop a game just to cash in for one month, let it fail, and move on to their careers which they've now almost single-handedly destroyed all by themselves? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I understand you're frustrated, but try to recognize that Zenimax has way more at stake in this game succeeding than any player does. There is simply no chance that they are ignoring problems. There is even less chance that they are completely ignorant of issues. They have far far more tools than players have to debug the game.

And maybe also recognize that this very thread is exactly why they don't respond to every single little quibble posted on the forums, other than simply not being logistically possible to do so. This thread was created and stickied specifically to let Nightblades know that Zenimax recognizes that the class could use work and to inform us of some of the things they're addressing. That's some. They explicitly stated that there are more issues than those listed that they are addressing. And what's the response? "Why aren't you saying anything about two-hander abilities in a thread about Nightblades!? I'm so mad at you!!" It's more often than not less damaging to simply remain silent than to post on a forum, where so many players will inevitably twist your words and use them to find a million new reasons to complain.

TL;DR You want more communication from a game developer? Stop hurling ridiculous accusations at them when they do talk to you. They are people with likely more at stake here than any player can imagine.

To the haters, nay-sayers, and complainers about how long it's taking to 'fix' Night Blade.

    1) If they didn't get it perfect, you guys would yell and complain
    2) If they 'fixed' EVERYTHING, then the fixes would NEVER get released!

Let's say there is a fundamental conflict between NB and some core function. They could either code a temp work-around (leaving the fundamental flaw in place) or they could trace the actual cause of the conflict and fix it.

If they 'patched' it, that wouldn't be good enough.
If they spent the time to truly fix it, that wouldn't be good enough.

So it's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.
