I did download 5.7 in two steps of about 2.3 and 2.4 GB.

You were probably watching it when the launcher checks the game. Every time there is a patch it checks all the files to make sure non are corrupt. The actually patches were just over 5 gb.

I got the same. I think it's correct that it's just checking if all files are correct. It's not DOWNLOADING 25gb, but APPLYING. Big difference. I downloaded something over 2gb then it started applying 25gb. As that is practically impossible my guess would be that they apply the patch and checking files/fixing files in the whole game in the process.

Oh, and it's applying with a speed of 80mb/s+, so this is not a download people.

Nope, Downloaded 2.5Gb patch, applied and verified patch, now DOWNLOADING a huge 22gb patch anywher between 90-300ish kB/s. Looks like i'm not going to be able to play for a while. So for some of us it is downloading a large >25gb patch.

Mine downloaded and installed patches about 5GB as expected, game wasnt working and crashed when opened(fatal error 11). I hit repair as suggested by support team and it went through and checked ~25gb of the files I already had, just checking so it went fast. It then downloaded 2 additional small files at about 1mb each that went real quick. Then it went through and applied them. I understand the difference between applying a patch and downloading it. Now after those tiny downloads my computer is that insisting I need to download 22GB of additional stuff. The main difference is applying patches on my SSD i get hundreds of MB/s, but downloading Im hitting about 200kB/s which will take an excruciatingly long time for the entire game.
The amount of times support staff or even other members of the community has told me to "just hit repair" or "you're reading it wrong, its actually applying patches" is ridiculous. I have not had the game working for close to 24 hours now and have now made a backup of all files and am trying the 22GB "repair" in the hopes this will miraculously work.
I've been checking forums regularly today for any updates on the situation, tried every 'homemade remedy' suggested here (after backing up files of course)

My launcher used to do this but I did a fresh install of the game and it fixed all my issues with patches and launcher. I have the physical disk though so it made it less painful than DLing the whole thing.
