VR Difficulty change?

Get to VR6+ and you'll see what everyone is talking about. Until then have fun because it's going to quickly stop when you reach those zones.
    +
Before the patch I could easily take 3 as a NB in a VR7 zone. They all averaged around 2500hp and didn't hit very hard. Now they're all 3500+ and hits take me down 20-30%. 15% if I block.

I'm not really angry. I'm just very very annoyed at the lack of any kind of response from ZOS. Was this intended? Wasn't it? Was it an oversight? I mean *SOMETHING* would help. They're obviously looking at the forums and it's completely silent.

I have to be honest here and just put out there that I did unsub and have basically given them 18 days to win my sub back.

Please stop the whining! So they made stuff more difficult... Perfect, an easy game is a boring game.

They did nothing to you specifically, this hits everyone as hard as you. Maybe you are not meant to be VR10 if you can't handle it. Why should every build be viable?

Be exceptional in the way you execute your build. Being special because you are running a funny build concept shouldn't be your aim.

Adapting to harder difficulty by changing how you play is where true sense of accomplishment should be. Remember the games you played 15 years ago? There were no handholding, and "balance" did not mean that you were on equal footing with every other class. You have your niche and your role and if you're unhappy about it please don't cry about it.

If you call well argumented critics "whining" I am wondering why you send a reply at all.
If people here, or myself, screaming that Zenimax is bad and blablabla, I believe your opinion would be valid. Now you have nothing to add to the discussion.

Second, if you read posts in this thread and if you would have read my post you can imagine that I have thought very well about my build. I am the player that participated in the beta and made many calculations and comparisons to come to a valid PvE tanking build. The plan with my build was going very well, up until the patch it was working excellent, just the way I had intended. After the patch NONE of my builds is working anymore.

Third, Zenimax stated that everyone can play the game as they want to play the game. Ofcourse this doesn't count for everything, but still, it's something that should be a goal in the development of their game, their patches, the future of this entire MMO. Now it's starting to look more and more like everyone should eventually come to some sort of meta build. Preassuming that you know what a meta build is, I think it's safe to say that following a meta build is not "play the game how you want to play it".

Well argumented feedback is not whining.

Apologies for the choice of wording. This thread got the brunt of my increasing disgruntlement with us gamers starting to expect:
    1. We should be able to complete most aspects of a multiplayer game solo
    2. That every class can be equal, that no class should wipe the floor with every other one in a 1v1 case. It again goes back to the multiplayer aspect.

I think both are wrong, and I can whine for a long time about it.
Apologies again for the tone and the derailment. I shall get back on the intended track:

I will agree it seems like an unintended effect. CC both hard and soft is available for all classes in this game. I still stand by my idea that it would be a breath of fresh air if monsters you have to fight during questing and exploring should be able to kill you easily. You would have to utilize CC skills and general awareness of your surroundings to manage them. Maybe even enforce grouping for the hardest one-shotters which are CC immune.

I recognize the point of view is to extreme, even I would probably not enjoy it for long. But going the opposite direction with every game I play worries me more.

I simply cannot fathom why it takes them so long to respond to some of these issues. This one, in particular, has a binary answer to the question "was this intended:" yes or no. It is literally the simplest answer possible.

I just don't know what has possessed them to do this. Are the only players they listen to Uber 1337 no-lifers. I'm VR7 now and had just got through a rough couple of levels VR4 and VR5 where I was desperately struggling to find a build and tactics that I could survive with. I really don't understand what their thinking is. As I wander round VR most people are solo. People want to be able to play at their own pace and not have to arrange when friends are on. They also play to relax, not be stressed (challenged is fine, but endlessly struggling is a grind).

PS. btw I'm not listening to anyone who responds with L2P, as already stated I've struggled to get myself specced to a point where I don't call the funeral director every time there's a group of 2 in front of me.

I agree with you on the point of needing to utilize cc skills and general awareness during solo questing. I already HAVE to do that as an underpowered NB and I do find it fun. I could have rolled a DK or Sorc. I knew they were a lot more powerful at solo questing than a NB but I chose what I wanted instead.

I'm glad you recognize that it might be a mistake and I'm glad it's not just my class having issues. Some of these quests and mobs are just completely impossible to solo. Some groups of 3 mobs, no matter what skills or build I pick for my NB will kill me or I will barely survive. I want the game to be challenging. I don't want it to be tedious as hell.

That's not what I consider fun.

The thing about your point number one is : we were told from day 1 that ESO was intended to work too for solo players.

Now of course no solo player should be able to complete a public or group dungeon, a world boss or Craglorn that's not solo gameplay.

But here people are talking of trash mobs in solo dungeons/outside world and solo quests. And that : yes, absolutely, we should be able to complete solo.

Also this is a multiplayer game, so it's not possible to customize your playing experience (no difficulty option) and has to be playable by the majority of gamers. Does that mean that the game will be a bit on the casual side ? yes ... if I was mean I would say : stop whining about it :stuck_out_tongue:

How, How have ZoS not responded to this? Unbelievable that in 24 hours they've said a bloody word, just an "Ok- investigating".

    Awful awful awful.
  • Garrus_Brightshield
Same here, the game is at a point now where it is not fun. Period. A NB friend asked me if I could help him with a quest because he could not do it alone. I wanted to but had to do a quest before that to get at the stage he is at. I had no chance against three standard mobs and even less chance against the boss I had to kill. He even offered me to help, but guess what - he can't because of the phasing.

Seriously, you can't just leave two classes, NB and Templars at a really poor place, even lower their DPS with the ninja nerf to biting jabs, make VR mobs even harder and still add no way to do quests together.

I get the single player aspect of the game and I love it, but now I simply can't finish simple quests. This is not Dark Souls, this is a MMO, and if I can't finish normal content because it is that hard, and I have to reroll to DK or use one specific weapon to have a chance to do the quests, I simply stop playing and cancel my subscription.

VR4 NB archer here. Before the patch I was getting along just fine, albeit with some difficulty at times. Could manage 3 mobs... just and solo elites.

Now, I can't even kill a mammoth without getting toasted and this was on a solo quest and I need to kill four of them! Gave up on that one for the time being.

Just run a solo dungeon and tried a mob of 3. Quickly ran out of stamina and magicka and then health disappeared rapidly. Less than 8 seconds later I was dead. Thank goodness for Shadow Cloak so that I can get past these mobs.

I played a total of about 4 hrs today and killed about 40 npcs in total - I am actually avoiding fights now unless I favour the odds. Don't get me wrong I love a challenge and prior to the patch VR content for me was a challenge. Now... it is no longer enjoyable (for me at least) as on average it was four hits and I'm dead.

    Hey there everyone,

Some VR content and monsters are indeed more difficult after yesterday’s patch, though this change was unintended. We are working on a fix now to revert the difficulty back to what you were familiar with prior to patch 1.1.2, and plan to have this rolled out in the next 24 hours. Thanks for your reports and patience.

I will now revert back to my other self, the one that isn't constantly nerd raging about this subject. Still not happy(about the game, otherwise I'm friggin extatic today as it's nice out and I got my grades back and they were good). These kinds of mistakes kill games.

Even if I am relieved, not only by this answer but also by the fact that we actually got an answer after hours of (I believe very legitimate) rage, I'm cautious.

It sounds good, but bad surprises happen all the time. i'll wait and see. But this all mess better be really fixed real fast. Right now I am considdering unsubscribing despite the fact that I love the game.

If this is all fixed then all will be fine and we'll play happily ever after, if not, I'll have no regret quitting.

Please don't! While frustrati g and boring, due to five gold drops and hard hits, you teased us with this lvl so I wn up and keep it. I still kill them naked, but I can't macro afk kill these monsters anymore like I can zone and world bosses!

Keep it! Or da** with you and nerfing content as fast as you release it.

People like us are required to do the testing because they don't have the staff to fully test a patch (most games do it this way). Blame your fellows for inefficient testing.

These kinds of things, while frustrating, happen, no matter how much you test. You don't know that they didn't test. It just wasn't caught, which happens no matter what. What matters is the communication and the speed of the fix. Which IMO, were still pretty bad. But better than in the past... which is... relative improvement I guess.

no please dont fix this so called oops that you made with this patch, finally mobs are somewhat hard and i have to think abit befor i just jump into a grp of mobs.

this might also make players grp up abit more or help each other more, rather then just run past each other to get to NeXT quest fastere.

Or, you could make a slightly sub-optimal build and still have to think a bit with the normal difficulty. It's what I've been doing.
