Patch Size Problem - Mine is 2.7 GB, my friend's is 25 GB?

My buddy is having an issue with his patching. His client is telling him it's a 25 GB patch - which he can't download because of his monthly data cap. My download, on the other hand, is only 2.7 GB. I can't find any information on what the actual size should be (on that note - that information would be great to include in the patch notes!).

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? We were playing together last night, so our clients should both be in the same state. It's not as though he hadn't played in ages and has to download previous patches.

He's already downloaded 2.8 GB and it says he's at 14%.

I should also mention that my client seems out of whack as well. After downloading 2 GB of the 2.7 it says the patch is, my progress bar only shows 14%. So I suspect the problem is that the client display is messed up, since it really makes no sense that our patch sizes would be so drastically different. Either that or it really s 25 GB and it's my client that's messed up and not his, which seems unlikely.

Obviously with his data cap he's afraid to continue the download. He tried restarting the client to see if that would resolve it but it didn't. Any other theories, suggestions or actual facts and fixes would be much appreciated!

Think the US patch is about 5.3GB in size as posted before. What he is seeing is probably the full client as it installs the patch. Mine has shown the same in the past but it just downloads what was needed and proceeds to the install.

Originally my client wanted to download 25gb as well, but thats the size of most of the existing game. I stopped the download, then closed and reopened the client and it came up with a more reasonable figure of ~2.7GB

Okay that might be it. Apparently his patch is now "applying" so it looks like the download is actually complete. I'm guessing the progress bar is showing both download and application time - we were interpreting it as only download time.

My client is now downloading an additional few GB, so I guess that bears out the 5.3 GB. Sort of silly that it doesn't just say it's going to be 5.3 GB when you start the download instead of breaking it into to 2 parts like that. Buddy's did the same, he's now downloading the last ~2 GB, so I think we're good to go. Thanks for the info guys.

That's OK, mines 22Gig and keeps resetting itself and switches to repairing anytime it gets over 11 Gig downloaded. Every patch the patcher hates me, never had a problem in any other game downloading/patching like this one since the 90's.

grr. I wish I had looked at this before I jumped on the treadmill for 2 hours. I could have been downloading the patch all this time.

My patcher queue'd and downloaded the 2.5gig patch (100% according to the patcher) ... Then proceeded to push past 100% when i eventually noticed it was 105%. Didnt detail how much was left to download anywhere and may well have been dl'ing the entire client again *shrug*.

Closed the client and reopened, another 2.5gig patch (or the same one again?).
Surely if this was a ~5gig patch to begin with it wouldnt have been too hard to pump that out in one go to alleviate this confusion?
