- Still seeing pointless french/german forums, completely clogging the view
- Unable to see sub forums unless you enter a main forum
- Completely pointless sub forums or they are in the wrong location
- Non existing "roleplaying" forums. Where are the race forums?
- What is wrong with the standard line by line main/sub forum layout that *everyone* use today. Its good design, it make sense and we are used to it. Your forum that consist of a wierd box layout is however very bad and very confusing.
The features are decent (vote options, saving drafts, etc) but the overall design remain horrible. What's going to happen when the console version release? Are we going to have to look through 50 darn boxes before finding the right forums?
How the layout somewhat loosely imagined should be:
- News/Information mainforum
--- Developer/interviews/etc subforums
- Support mainforum
--- PC/console/Mac technical support subforum
- General/main mainforum
--- PvE subforum
--- Cyrodiil subforum
--- --- Aldmeri/Daggerfall/Pact subforums
--- Players helping players subforum
--- Guilds subforum
--- Crafting subforum
- Lore mainforum
--- Story subforum
--- Race subforums (one subforum for each race)
- Community mainforum
--- Addons subforum
--- Community creations subforum
--- Offtopic subforum
- German mainforum (with all subforums as above)
- French mainforum (with all subforums as above)
- Archived mainforums (if you ever create temporary forums for event things)
You just saved me a ton a typing...
I would BOLD your first line though... that has been the most annoying thing from the very beginning as it completely clutters everything... why make us choose a language when it has no use...
Language selection only affects main sie not forum contents as intended.
When I signed up to use the forum it required I select a language..not for the main site everyone around the world can see and use. They built the At a Glance layout to be easy to read and find what you want...dont need it in 3 different languages all a the same time which makes it kinda hard to read... would think that type of filter would be easy enough to impliment especially for a AAA company like ZoS.
If it's working as intended to force me to view the same content in three languages then wow... just wow.
Where's the Chines and Russian forums...gotta think they have more players than the DE or FR forums do...
Go click those language buttons. It only affects main page text, not forum names, headings or thread language. Almost never does.
Especially since most DE and FR can read EN and will often check English threads for information not found in the DE or FR forums.
So because they prefer main site language in say German they should only see German forums because skipping over them is difficult for you?

Mobile phones have an issue with the forums, Did they break the mobile forumsAlso have a blank screen on iPhone 5 when clicking Home. I click English there and nothing happens.
They are in triplicate, because of languages, divide by three and it's nearer twenty.kalilkareem wrote: »I am just going to echo the seniments of the majority of people here: These forums are still gawdawful. Just go look up some good forum design for another game (perhaps "the other MMO") for some clues how to structure a gaming forum. Some key notes;
1) Reduce number of subforums. Good forum design will have 10-15 or so, yours I cannot count.
Sort of, a good forum design has as few layers as possible, this might be one, or two, or even three or four. But as few layers as possible is a good rule.2) Reduce the number of _layers_ of subforums. Good forum design will only have one layer.
They've done that to a degree, but that's what's increased the number of layers. Still it's a lot easier to find your way around now.3) Hide the forums categories in languages that differs from your selected language.
Too simple and it won't work, yes ideally the languages would be seperate, but it's not that hard to navigate now. Basically, given how bad they were, just be grateful for the improvement. We can urge them into improving them over time.4) Keep it simple, keep it clean.
the Latest post are nearest the front, if they showed "Latest Posts" seperately the forums would be even worse than they were before.5) Do what you can to improve visibility of forum activity. Like "latest posts", "most active threads" etc etc.
AlexDougherty wrote: »Post in combatting-gold-spammers-on-the-forums thread, you can name and shame in that thread, so ZOS can do something about it.How about adding a report option to the PM portion of the forum structure so I can report the gold sellers that are now using THAT avenue to spam me?
ZOS_EveP Instead of just moving more duplicate topics to GD would it be possible for ZOS to have one centralised topic pinned in GD listing what they're doing about bots, links to relevant information, a guide to how to report them most efficiently.
Then any new threads started on the subject can be locked with a message saying...
"Thank you for your concern but we would ask that you please see our official thread about the war on bots here (link) and post your concerns there. Duplicate threads cause clutter on the forums and we're trying to keep it tidy for the enjoyment of everyone."
It's getting a little stupid just how many threads about the same issues are cluttering up the forums now.
Um, German and French companies would provide forums in the languages the game is released in. This is an EU law regarding equality, and since ZOS has to comply with EU law, because the game has been released in EU, they've done the language like this.darthbelanb14_ESO wrote: »Patch notes need to be separate from regular news and announcements. This is an American company, so naturally the main forums should be English. Foreign languages should be separated into they're own sub forums as is with other gaming company's forums. I'd expect nothing less from a German or French gaming company.

Should have left the discussion link/counter you've made on the right under recent discussions, because now we have to go through our own profile just to access our old threads we made, and it doesn't even show them unless you click "show more"
We need a feedback subforum and a bug report subforum (so they don't clutter the customer support section)
We need a trade subforum, for each alliance and server.
The guild section needs to be separated by alliance and server.
The counters are still showing threads from the beta forums, Like right now I have 135 discussion threads but I cannot access all of them, and it says 3 unanswered on the right but there's nothing there when you click it.
You didn't really change anything at all except add a general discussion subforum which is great but doesn't address the rest of the issues.

The idea of forums is to provide a place and structure that allows players to find solutions to issues, and general information, easily and to prevent, as much as is possible, the duplication of posts thereby making the life of all CS agents easier as information will be more concisely available to them also.
There needs to be a proper forum architecture:
