Midyear Mayham Event was too short

It just felt soo short, having only one weekend to really grind it because of work when it used to be two weekends. If this is the last Midyear Mayheam of the year it's really a big let down.

I would have been up for the event encompassing two weekends myself.

I don't usually have enough spare time left during the week after real life and then ESO chores.

Said that I am mostly into PvDoor; I have only done PvP in Vengeance (I mean PvP as in 'staying alive long enough to trade blows rather than dying in 2 GCDs') which it has been established is not actual PvP so take that wish as you will.

Did they make it shorter this time or.. it seemed like once I knew it was a thing it had only 2 days left.. my group was really confused.

I remember it felt like it would go on for like 2 and a half weeks or something.. maybe its just the nostalgia speaking to me but I remember being so hyped for MYM and burning endless hours in there each night.. queue by 2pm.. log off by 11pm every single night.

I got to play once this MYM and it was over.

Put me in the camp... 4+ times a year.

Didn't they say both MYM and the Undaunted events will now be shorter but once every quarter instead of how they used to be, with the next MYM tentatively scheduled for November? Tried to find where they said it, but I really remember it being stated a while back that they were changing how these two events function.

The idea is now that MYM (and Undaunted, when that comes by) will be converting into one-week events that will be offered once a season now. However, with 2026 being a transition year into the new format (and now with the layoffs), it may not make it as often as it's supposed to.

But yes, they are intending it to be a shorter, more frequent mini-event. And they said that they no longer offer trade bars, as that has been moved to the Veterancy system instead.

Not sure but if that is the case then makes sense. I guess the only hting I would ask is to try to get it to overlap on 2 weekends if at all possible. Most people don't get to play because of how long the queue is.. you have to get in q super early... and if you crash/dc at all while playing in GH then you're done.. the queue to get back in during prime time is insane.

Couldn't find the original mention, I'm guessing it was probably in a live stream. But in the most recent post for MYM they included this:

"You might have noticed that this new version of Whitestrake’s Mayhem is shorter than previous versions. These “One-Week Whitestrake’s” are intended to pop up more frequently throughout the year (with the next one tentatively scheduled for November) and have some design changes to reflect this new regularity. We will continue to share our plans and changes related to Whitestrake’s as we move forward, but until then, glory awaits!"

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/70253

From reading that, I don't think this version is solid and set in stone, and they're open to changing/modifying it depending on how it functions. Might be worth making a suggestion over here: https://elderscrollsonline-feedback.featureupvote.com

I actually didn't mind the shorter length, assuming we actually get it four times a year like they proposed. The 12 day mayhem events got pretty stale after the first weekend, and the population seemed to really die off towards the end.

That said, they really botched this first attempt at the 7 day event. Removing the trade bars (replacement for event tickets) was just a slap in the face. The excuse of "but the veterancy system offers them now!" just doesn't track when you consider how many PVP players had already finished veterancy prior to this event, or that a big boost to the midyear population numbers would come from non-PVP focused players coming there for their event tickets in the past.

The bars need to be re-added, or additional rewards need to be developed for future events.

The population bars being bugged on PC NA for 5 out of the 7 days of the event is just a joke. You had no idea what population was in which campaign, where you could go to get fights, etc. I imagine this deterred a lot of uninformed people from even playing when they glanced at the population and saw nothing whatsoever. I played on both PC EU and PC NA throughout this event, and PC EU had significantly more population throughout.

It came at a bad time for me, because I had family visiting and wasn't able to play for hours at a time like I usually do during Mayhem. But despite that, I did manage to gain another Alliance War Rank on my primary main, and several more Veterancy Ranks on both of my mains, so that was nice.

Just to clarify here, the goal is to bring Whitestake's Mayhem back quarterly.
As suggested, doing it 4 times a year is great but why not start on friday and have it run until sunday the following week so we get 1 week + another weekend.... having 2 full weekends in would really help working ppl

We try to have all events start and stop on Wednesday and the goal with this event going forward is to keep it to a week. Additionally, events requires team members to be around to start/stop events as well, so that is why we normally do not start/stop events on the weekend. If we can avoid it, we would like our team members to enjoy their weekends as well.

All that being said, we can get this feedback over to the events team for their consideration.

Wait, this isn't something that is scripted and requires human input to start/stop.....?

Are we spinning up/down the servers and pushing stuff to prod just for these "events"?

I mean this with a lot of respect, no wonder so much breaks every time the camp ends/events start/stop.

To be fair... I like the reward boxes. I'll get a few hundred an event (when I'm able to play or know it's happening). Just sell/decon gore.

Now, do I wish the reward boxes had a little... newness to them... 100%

If an event is scripted to start/stop on a weekend, and there is an issue, people would have to work on it on the weekend or wait longer to fix it. Not sure why an event would need to stop on a weekend or overnight anyway.

However, Friday to Monday for two weekends would be nice, especially as they seem to be the busiest PvP time.

one week is far too short. as some suggested it should at least be 2 weekends so start on a Friday end on the monday following the 2nd weekend. makes it slightly longer but gives the working folks some time to actually enjoy the event. Also the lack of trade bars is ridiculous. The only event us pvp'ers get and there are no trade bars to be earned. That is a big mistake and not at all fair to the pvp community. we are forced to do many pve events throughout the year to get bars now we don't get any for our one event...

There are scripted elements. However, we still need folks around to make sure things are working as intended before and after an event starts and before and after an event ends.

I'd say a week long mayhem felt better than the old 10 day ones. By the end people tend to be burnt out anyway, one week every 3 months sounds great to me. What wasn't great was the removal of trade bars and with it the loss of incentive for the player base at large to come into PVP. Are you going to remove trade bars from the undaunted event so pvpers can just skip the pvers event? Somehow I doubt it.

First, PvPers used to complain that during Mayhem both IC and Cyro were flooded with PvE scrubs.
Now that trade bars are gone... are you still complaining?
You finally got rid of the PvEers, you should be happy

I do like shorter events. Long ones are boring, repetitive, and often saturate the market with too many items. So good that we will have shorter events! Go ahead like this!

I'm not interested in fighting inexperienced PvE players who are just there for their Event Tickets before leaving. Those players are just "free AP" and they're fun to mindlessly kill, but obviously there's no skill involved. If I wanted to kill things mindlessly, I'd do easy PvE content.

What I would propose instead is some way to get potential PvP players to play PvP more often. PvE players who are only there for their daily quests before leaving only serve to clog up the Cyrodiil queue. We need more players who would spend time in PvP because they like it, not just for the rewards or the boosted AP.

@ZOS_Kevin perhaps you could feedback to the team that it might feel better if the event was extended by a few days.

For example if it was run over 2 weekends that would likely be fun for everyone.

Thurs/Friday Start, Weekend 1, Week 1, Weekend 2, Monday End. This way its not too long but also gives people 2 weekends to enjoy it for those who only play at the weekend.

Idk, in recent years Midyear Mayhem became pretty anti-pvp by the second week. Participation would gradually decline day by day. By the final few days of the event, it was just a bunch of empty campaigns with very little PvP happening.

There's not very much enthusiasm around Whitestake's Mayhem anymore, judging by the turnout. It would've been a detriment to extend the event another week.

This year I chose to grind sewer experience. I think that I had 3 uninterrupted hours there. Another player didn't come thorugh the grinding spot that I saw. I saw no players outside of the main base sewer areas within the confines of their ladders. I didn't see the imperial city population go above 2 bars for any faction. Maybe it did, but usually there is at least some very busy time.

I was less motivated in IC too. It seemed like a great time to grind telvar. Indeed I had some very lucrative half hour trips into IC, but overall it was a more boring experience.

I chose to play a werewolf subclass build since, as a player who only uses a DK, I would be otherwise EASILY outmatched by people running WW or sorcerer. This was generally pretty good and I had confidence roaming around the city. Overall, there were still a WW and a Sorc that I couldn't do anything about since Sorc is so powerful. I was even running imperial physique with 45k HP, max resist, and all of the benefits that Oakensoul bestows. Some WW Sorc just know how to live forever while dishing out damage. Some sorc know how to deal massive damage within 5 seconds against my build.

I have to think that the extreme cheesy nature of PvP contributed to the low population. WW was already stupid to chase around and kill through their heal before the WW update. Who actually wants to run into one? I've never used such a powerful build. I was pulling around 30 some K against the district bosses and finishing them off without any risk to surviving. I can't believe how unbalanced the game can be and I think that this calls for something like successful builds being published by the dev team. There is a totally different game to be played compared to what I'm used to when I try to make my own build.

I did try 8x8 battleground out for the first time in maybe years. I was trying to get the healing achievement for capture the relic. I found this to be basically impossible. I only played relic a few times out of maybe 20 matches. Healing 200k is sort of a task when the whole point of relic is to score and not take damage with the relic. My build was a sub class doing the templar heal ult spam. You know, because DK magma shell doesn't get ult regen, but templar heal ult must be fun and interactive. Anyhow, I again ran 45k HP and max resist. I've been shocked by how easy it is for some players to burst this kind of build down. It seems like everyone from the entire class spectrum has options for treating max resist and hp like it's nothing. What an awful achievement and, honestly, gametype since immovable stopped working to force relic steals.

I did see that greyhost was capped, but that's normal. I have little to zero interest in Cyrodiil. What's the point? I got emp like 8 years ago.
