What should the priority of the immediate future updates be?

Obviously wee need the future tomes / seasons to finance the game; but what should be the priority of future updates?
What would make sense to me is focusing on things first that have the highest impact dev time to player reach wise - e.g. where you can activate the most players or content most players will do vs. resources spent...

imo I would focus on the class updates and weapon skill updates before anything else and put these as a priority since they impact everyone directly or indirectly (By the imbalance they create if not yet fully done) before any new content...

What do you feel should be the priority? Or do you think they should continue to do a bit of everything / varied, just at a potential slower pace?

Combat is almost always the #1 complaint when ESO is mentioned in non-ESO circles, so I agree the focus should be on the combat and class reworks. I would honestly halt progress on anything else that isn't a combat/class rework at this point, except maybe crossplay, but that's a titanic undertaking even with all the people they had before.

It just seems like the smart idea to strike directly at most players barrier to entry into the game, they've already started on a good roll, gaining good will, the recent events did strike a big blow, but I think the situation is, if the good choices are made, salvagable

In the short term, I think they should eliminate Subclassing and use the Class Mastery Passives to right combat, add more of them if necessary. They can update the looks of them and other things later. Then start rolling out whatever content they can while they construct more Classes that will sell themselves and generate fast revenue. And that's what this is probably really about. Money. Delaying the current situation with people's characters will cause more people to leave.

I really hope they can prioritize class reworks, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was fully cut in favor of new content. At end of the day all the class reworks likely wouldn't generate as much profit as new zones and quests.

I honestly don’t care if they skip the new features and content and just focus on finishing the class reworks. I’d honestly prefer that to anything else at this point. After the reworks have been finished they can work on new content.

Honestly, at this point it's hard to say what the team is capable of doing until we know and I don't want to put further pressure on what's already a hard conversation for them. That said, continuing the class/combat reworks would be a great place to start given that's what the game is known for.

But until we know, it's hard to really nail down other specifics.

We do need to get more stories made, as that is what brings players to the game. Season One is all about stories, and we should get more for Season Two.

Class balance and reworks. The game is in an unacceptable state right now, esp. in PvP. I spoke to my brother about what happened and he said he didn't feel a reason to log in. He plays templar. I can't blame him.

For me personally, they should finish the class reworks first. After that, add the new zone they talked about, and then two new dungeons.

They should drop the stuff they’ve already said is a huge, time‑consuming resource drain, like cross‑play.

They also should drop the experimental temporary content for the game. If resources are tight, they must focus om permanent additions to the game and not 'funsies'.

The thing is, they can't "focus" on one or two singular aspects because there are different groups that work on different things. They can't simply chuck everyone at one or two things when those people might not have any sort of experience in doing the stuff any particular number of people might want to see done.

The group working on the infrastructure for crossplay aren't going to know the first thing about how to balance or code for the reworks, for example. The ones who do things for the Crown Store aren't going to be able to just switch over to developing Dungeons. The ones who develop PvP aspects probably aren't going to be much help in story writing for quests.

I'm sure there likely ARE people who would be able to reasonably jump between teams, but for the most part I really doubt that'd be the case.

I know many here will vehemently disagree, but I barely care about the class reworks at all (in fact, the DK and WW reworks actively destroyed the concept of my main, who was a DK using poison and no fire, and who used to use WW until they changed the model).

The only thing that will keep me playing is new content, primarily zones, stories, and dungeons. If they stop releasing these things in favour of combat reworks, there will be nothing to keep me interested and playing. I know most of the people on these forums are hardcore old guard and many take combat seriously, but I expect a large portion of the silent casual audience will feel similarly to me.

    (Edit for clarity.)

I think the best thing for them to do would be to finish the Class reworks as fast and well as they can.

The DK rework probably brought the most people back to the game recently. So many people came back specifically because of U49, and the anticipation of the other class reworks kept them around. More than anything, I'd throw everything into that.

We've lost pretty well everything that would be 'new content' in the writers and encounter designers at this point, so there is going to be a period of trying to stretch the reworks into "the big new thing." And it might work if those are done well.

Class updates and combat, obviously. They’re the core of the game and they’re 2/9 done (if we’re counting Vamp like WW). I’ve said so many times this should have been all-hands-on-deck first order priority. Now we’re in limbo with a partially finished combat system and no clear timeline to finish it. NOT good.

Everybody equally benefits by the class reworks. That’s a universal thing. It doesn’t matter what kind of new content or features they develop, it’s not for everyone. Therefore there is only one main priority right now. And I would add Crossplay, as that’s another huge thing.

It impacting everything doesn't mean all those teams are qualified to work on it. The story team won't be able to code the new Skills. The PvP team won't know how to animate them. The Dungeon team won't know much about adjusting numbers.

"Too many cooks spoils the broth."

Having an excess of people, especially those who aren't qualified to work on specific things, will not get them done faster. It more often than not will slow them down and impede them with different people getting in each others' metaphorical way and communication having to go through way more people than it normally would.

Combat refresh needs to be completed. It's the most visible and glaring issue and leaving that undone looks bad. I see regularly people that play the unfinished classes aren't even playing right now as they wait a year or more for their turn.

Next is content. I don't know what they will be able to develop now but they should focus on getting Winterhold done as they got people excited from the tease.

I see Crossplay listed but there are players that don't care about this at all, or even want it. Hit or miss as to how much this will add to the success of the game whereas the other two impact everyone.

Would be nice to get something like a basic roadmap or information. If no new content on story or chapter-like then maybe give some roadmap on ES: VI to look forward to. My feelings are since the pivot from story and chapters to tasks and grouping, I want to drop down to a single player game. That was why I even came to ESO, lore and story.

Everyone is going on about the class rework, and yes as it stands it's barely been started, and should continue, but if continuing this endeavour is all we're to expect as output for the foreseeable future then there will be nothing for me to do with my shiny new reworked skills.

It's all well and good catering for the newbies and trying to attract new players, but without the "old guard" the game is a shell of what it used to be. Who'll be there to lead lower levels through their first trials, lead helpful guilds who include everyone in trials, overland exploration etc?
We need new content at least as much imo. Shined up skill lines are not content. We need new interactive content like questlines, dungeons, trials, delves, arenas etc and without new content I'm sad to say, there's very little for me (and many other longtime players) to do when they log in. I'm already playing much less that I did last year simply because there's nothing left for me to do.

From a PVP perspective 100% the combat refresh needs to get done and if that is going to take a while, the devs should boost the class passives a bit for certain classes. Sorc and DK are in a great place. Those two classes account for more than half of the players I see. The others could use a little extra. The main advantage sorc and dk have is they can get all the sustain they need from either a passive or an ability so they can build entirely into damage and defense. It makes an enormous difference. Sorcs don't even need tri-pots so you have these tanky sorcs using armor pots. That's great. Give the other classes some love though and press on with the refresh.
