Timing of new Achievements and Golden Pursuits with same actions

ESO added the new "Kill X things on Seasoned+ difficulty" with Update 50. I'm nearly done with those achievements.
Today, a Golden Pursuit launched with, you guessed it, "Kill X things on Seasoned+ difficulty."

I understand that the Night Market GP was still still active when U50 came out. But please, in future, can you sync these? Many of us are going to have to duplicate a bunch of effort.

(Please, no "it's your choice" comments. I know.)

This isnt a "its your choice comment" its a more of a have patience comment.

It was documented in the June survival guide article that there was going to be a golden pursuit around challenge mode and the dates listed.

So the best course of action was to wait.

That's not any more helpful than "it's your choice." It's been commented many times here that excpecting us to read and memorize every bit of text ZoS puts out is not reasonable. I read the patch notes. I watch the streams. I apparently missed 1 survival article.

The request is still valid. When having two events/achievemtns/pursuits that duplicate effort, can they please be synced?

You're right, it's not reasonable to expect people to read everything. It's also not reasonable to expect to never miss anything because you don't want to.

There's only space in game for so much information. That's why they encourage people to sub to emails.

This isn't about who knew what when and who obsessively reads the forums/reddit/all the social media/news articles/their navel lint.

It's about asking the devs to sync when they have duplicate actions in two different areas of the game: achievements and a golden pursuit. Also tomes, for that matter.

I can do both, no problem. I have plenty of characters who can get these done either solo, or with my regular dungeon group. But I'm a near-end game player.

Most folks need groups, and sometimes big groups, to do the vestige stuff. And never read the forums/reddit/news. Now they have to create/find those groups AGAIN. One of my guilds is already "nah, can't be bothered for these rewards" (although the transmute geodes are a great reward).

I do understand you OP, but realistically, this pursuit can be finished in 20-30 minutes if trying. It is however very much just a "play the game" pursuit. You can just stick yourself on Seasoned and you'll likely nearly finish it just playing the game normally barely noticing any difference.

Well, it was either have the launch of Challenge difficulty be slightly out of sync with the Golden Pursuits or have two Golden Pursuit campaigns that overlapped.

There can be arguments made for either one of those being the worse choice, and ZOS decided that a GP overlap was the greater evil. I think their choice is fine (esp. since there were problems with Challenge Difficulty at launch that required a maintenance session to fix), and you probably disagree, but that's okay.

FWIW, this GP campaign is way easier and faster than the achievements. If someone was so much of a tryhard that they got all the achievements done within the first week and a half, then I doubt that repeating a small fraction of that work for the GP would is going trouble them that much.

For the vast majority of players, I don't think they've made enough progress with that achievement for this to be that much of a problem.

Finally, you can get every reward from this GP campaign using only Seasoned. Using Master and/or Vestige would significantly speed up getting all the rewards, but they're completely optional.

I get the idea but I'm glad they released challenge difficulty sooner rather than later. We've been waiting a long time on that feature and was happy to have it ASAP. If they had delayed it until the Golden Pursuit I guess it wouldn't have made that big of a difference but I also don't think it makes a lot of difference doing it this way as the pursuit rewards are pretty tame and many can pretty easily just do these in the background.

I can see the value in just making sure stuff overlaps when possible though. Makes it easier for people who didn't read the article.

It took me less than half an hour to get the capstone reward. The amount of "effort" for this Golden Pursuit is pretty minimal.

I hear you, I think it’s the same problem as dungeon motifs dropping after people have already gotten their tris. It’s effective for making people engage longer, but it’s not fun.

That said, I did complete exactly half the pursuit by killing one boss. Queen of the Reef on Vestige difficulty. Lots of people around due to the new furnishing plans.

I think this is good feedback.

In general I feel the timing of drops this season have been a bit.... awkward, so to say. Things in patch notes released a month later. Things not dropping when you think they would. I think this is another example of that and I hope they can time their releases a bit better ahead.

I concede the overall point. And I know I get frustrated a but when major updates occur mid popular events, shortening them.

And we know that ZOS can "turn on" different parts of an update after its been pushed. The new quests are a good example of this.

From what I understood watching the dev stream, the Night Market was like a dungeon, so you couldn't use it to work toward the Seasoned achievements. But it is rather easy to group in a few places, like Alkir dolmen triangle run, or some public dungeons to get it done. I am using "Seasoned" for world boss dailies, because it is easy to do with lots of people, for example the Kvatch arena, or other bosses with lots of adds. True, you need to change the places to get all the categories of mobs, but it's not difficult.

    Your frustration is reasonable.
Yes, it feels like "I could have it at once, but now I need to do double work", and it irritates.

On the other hand, the lifetime of the achievement and the GP task are totally different.
Synchronizing them looks logical in a player's scope "I see new, I do" within a week or two, but has no sense in a longer perspective.

In practice, syncronizing is possible, I guess. Not by postponing the patch release date (mountain won't come to a mouse), but by shifting the GP start.
Not sure, but technically we can have more than one GP at a time. At least it works with seasonal GP and returning players' tasks.

A negative effect we would have: the overwhelming number of tasks from a few simultaneous GP.
We already have voices about too many, too often events, and I feel their pain.
Sure, we can argue that "everybody who wanted could have their NM GP complete at the moment". Though it would be the same "it's your choice" like answer. It works both directions.

Another annoyance! But you're right, it's an engagement tactic. I get that.
Aimed at advanced players who are maybe more likely to run a dungeon a gazillion times for all of the bizarre achievements. </raises hand>
    GPs are designed for everyone.

Yeah, I finished it quickly, and am now done with all the U50 slayer achievements, and only have to kill delve/world bosses on seasoned+. I'm doing those in Summerset for the coffers/furnishing plans, rather than fast running them in a base game zone.

I think it is. When I finished these GP, a choice came up something like "move to next?" but I hit it too fast to really realize what it said. I figure if we can have tomes overlap (if you upgrade) the code is probably there.

As I mentioned above (in an out of order response) I suspect GP can overlap. But you know much more about coding than I do. I am glad the challenge difficulty came out early in this cycle, given how many players really wanted it.

With four large scheduling categories (Updates, Tomes/Seasons, Events, and Golden Pursuits), I can see the schedulers at ZoS pulling their hair out. I liked it better when things weren't quite as desynced as they are now, but I guess I'll get used to it.
Finally, you can get every reward from this GP campaign using only Seasoned. Using Master and/or Vestige would significantly speed up getting all the rewards, but they're completely optional.
My original post was "in future, can we have these sync" but my concern for this particular GP was for folks who have difficulty on Seasoned getting the Vestige stuff done without having to (re)form big groups. But I hadn't counted, and as you point out, it's possible to get all the rewards on Seasoned.
    -

I suspect a lot of this frustration is how Updates and Tomes/Seasoned are so unsynced now. And it overflowed. I've gone back multiple times to reread the patch notes etc to see exactly what is available when (U50? Dynamic Encounters? Thieves/Sheo quest lines? Challenge difficulty? Thieves isn't available yet, but the Glenumbra Outlaw Refuge has been updated, and the rumors/favors boards are up but not active?), and I'm seeing in PS/NA in zone chat "where is the dynamic encounter I need for this achievement?" all the time. Because people expect if an achievement is listed in game, it should be possible to do. I, myself, was expecting Koldane motifs to drop from Heists, and despite doing heists on multiple characters, I've yet to get an antiquity lead from them, so was confused there too. It's very confusing for many, even those who do read the patch notes/news articles.

Sometimes they do this on purpose to drive engagement. Like when dungeons dropped, and months later motifs in there would be released, to drive ppl to rerun dungeons 30+ times again after said ppl already ran the place to max achievements months before.

Yeah, this GP was super quick to do, just set level to Master and knock out several items at once.

I understand the sentiment though. We could get a similar GP in the future that is not so quick to do. We are already redoing old content again so once is better than twice.

yep. For an MMO to thrive it needs to provide new content and it needs players to repeat available content. We often see complaints shortly after something new (take dragons as example) the crowds are gone and now there isn't enough players to finish. That is because all the players in a hurry for the accomplishments have finished and moved on. ESO likes to create things to bring the players back to the old content.
It might not be good for the longevity of the game to drop all the awards and achievements linked to a certain activity at once. They want us returning.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
