A possible solution/alternative to the current challenge reroll system is to arrange them into pools tailored to various playstyles. Something like:

    1) Grouped or high-level content (Trials, Arenas, Dungeons)
    2) PvP (Cyrodiil, Imperial City, Battlegrounds, Duels)
    3) Overland (harvesting, kill X critters, WB, antiquities, quests)
    4) Thieving /Stealth (pickpocket, treasure chests, thieves troves, sneaking, being invisible)
    5) New Players (Mount training, trait research, level ups)
    6) Aesthetics (Housing, outfits, emotes)

I feel there's an opportunity here to include more roleplaying aspects too:

    7) Good-aligned (healing X damage, donating X gold or Crown store items to other players)
    8) Evil-aligned (Dark Brotherhood, killing innocents, vampire feeding)

Additionally, some challenges could overlap several categories or be global, such as crafting.

From these, we would then be given the option to choose which pools we like the most (perhaps a minimum of 2-3 to enforce some variety) to roll challenges from, excluding the others. That way everyone should get to do what they like most in the game and not have to worry about getting unsuitable content. If you wanted, you could pick all of the pools, of course.

This system would also open up for a greater variety of individual challenges to choose from in each pool. I'm sure we can all think up a lot more of them than I suggested here.

A minor comment: Including antiquities challenges at this point seems unfair to players who don't own Greymoor as they literally cannot complete them.

I'm super confused on these tombs. I have unlocked all but page 10, but when you "hold" I click on something in these pages it links and I hear a sound but nothing seems to happen. Is it purchased, is it held somewhere, if held where is it? This is so confusing, why? Plus I have 16k+ points and not wanting to continue if they go nowhere. Saw the convert to gold thing, but not getting how to purchase and what is happening.

    Lets get to it

Ok So here's my take on Tomes and at first I loved the whole idea. I'm not forced to grind dailies and that frees time for other things.
    WOHOO right?
    Actually no.
What I've found is I just no longer care about these tasks..... at all, like not in the least.

The rewards really aren't that great and sure I may not get seals or Tome points or Transmutes Or even Trade bars I'm not remotely bothered by it.

Then you add to that I literally don't have to do anything and you have a system that auto buys stuff for me.... why would I even look at this.

In hind sight, I think this was a mistake and actually took a part of the game away that although was grief-some also had Merit.

I think The dailies need to be reinstated even if you only add 2 per day at an Accelerated reward level so that it feels meaningful again.

If you purchased something then you should see a checkmark appear (and stay) across the icon of the item that you purchased. If you do not see a checkmark then you did not purchase it. Where the staff goes depends on the items: currencies go to the currency tab, outfit styles just get unlocked, furnishings are dumped into your inventory either in the form of a container or individually (not consistent).

So, to purchase, click on the item you like and hold until the checkmark appears.

I like tomes, I think they're no more work overall than endeavors and a lot more rewarding. I have come across an issue this week tho.

I ran out of rerolls before I could get rid of the storm and fire atro one. Was going to leave it sat there til I have a spare but it completed earlier and I couldn't dismiss the message without claiming it.

It doesn't seem much of a problem if I completed it anyway, but just because I did it once doesn't mean I'll be able to do it all the other times without it being more grindy than I want, which was why I was going to reroll it. Now that's not an option. I might not finish it but can't get rid if it now.

It would be great if the progress bar was in stages like CP, instead of the times claimed message. It shows the total amount of points but you can claim it in smaller blocks, like CP unlocks when you get to certain points. You can claim it by going in to the menu any time but the pop up message that forces you to claim it only pops up when you get to the end. Maybe a smaller message when you get to a checkpoint, like endeavours used to have.

Then I could have left it unclaimed and when I had spare rerolls I could see exactly where I was up to and decide if I wanted to keep it.

This would be great for when you're doing things like harvesting and killing things too, so it wouldn't keep interrupting you and making you claim them before you're done.

This idea was suggested in another thread, and I like it, but...

I wouldn't want all the grouped activities in one category. I never do trials, I rarely do arenas, but I like running dungeons. The way you have it, I'd have to deselect the group category, otherwise I'd have a good chance of getting trials/arenas, which I wouldn't want.

There are also players who like to PvP in Cyrodiil but don't do battlegrounds, etc.

So I think some of the categories would be too high level.

Honestly, I'd just like to be able to select from the available challenges, rather than having a reroll system. Just let me choose the items I enjoy doing.

Well. There's still over 30 days of the current Tome to go and I have everything possible from it. Including from the two "premium" pages.

And I still have 3 caches of Tome points unused, which fortunately I didn't cash in. Presumably *these* will roll over to the next tome, provided I keep them intact.

Never mind gold, why isn't there something to SPEND my excess tome points on? Like the ability to convert into one of the other currencies (tradebars, writ vouchers, tel var, alliance points, seals, whatever).

By which I mean: There should be the non-limited ability to spend excess tome points on such a conversion, if and only if you have bought everything else from the tome (including all the comparatively useless stuff like the potions and poisons, which I'm unlikely ever to use in the quantity provided, or the wayshrine maps which I don't need because I pretty much unlocked them all during natural play. Or the adventure packs containing such things as lockpicks and soul gems, both of which I already have thousands of.)

I mean, honestly, those kinds of adventure pack are Not Premium Material at the best of times, even for a newbie.

Today I opened the last pages of my Tamriel Tome for season zero and I have purchased almost everything, and I have nearly 7000 points left over.

There needs to be repeatable items to purchase, I don't need more gold. I do need more AP or Writs or cool furniture sets or something like that.

I wouldn't agree with a requirement to buy everything because there are actual and not just comparatively useless things in there for some of us too. I've just hit 3600 CP so all the XP scrolls are just trash. I've done research on all my 20 characters so research scrolls are useless too. I'm 5* in PvP and never use other characters. Yes, I know I could, but I won't. I don’t see why I should have to buy all these things just to have to delete them.

The main benefit of tomes over daily rewards is that we're not forced to get things we don't want like we used to be. It's horrible that they decided to add autobuy at the end without any options for what it will or won't get. I just would like to be able to spend the points so that doesn't take over

I totally agree we need some repeatable rewards to spend our tome points on. I don't think we need anything extravagant; reasonable amounts of gold, potions, transmutes etc. will do. I unlocked my bonus pages a couple of weeks ago, redeemed everything I wanted (and even some consumables I didn't really want), and apparently we still have 48 days to go. And I still have 8000 tome points and nothing to spend them on.

In fact if our tome points will convert to gold at the end of the season anyway, why not just let us press some buttons and redeem them ourselves? I'd rather have a feeling of control over redeeming these rewards than have an autoclaim feature.

I was under the impression that, unlike the event tickets that had a limit of 12 tickets, this new currency did not have a limit. But now we hear only 2000 points carry forward to the next season... that items will be auto-purchased with anything beyond that 2000 point limit, regardless if we want them or not.

Why can't I hold on to the points until I see something I want if nothing for that season fits?

I got to bonus page 2 today and because I didn't want any of the paid rewards I'm now stuck with 5,000 useless points, because so many more were required to unlock a page than to buy the items on it. I know some of them will convert to gold but I still don't understand the point of having a cost for items on the page and a separate, higher, cost just to get permission to pay for them.

But the real downer was that one of the free crown crates dumped a spider into my pet collection. I've asked customer support to delete it and I'm really hoping they will, because until then I've turned off random pets and I don't even want to open the menu. Yes I know it's irrational, that is literally the definition of a phobia.

All in all it was definitely a disappointing end to a system I was initially unsure about.

Edit: They deleted the spider! :)

I think the tomes concept has actually led me to play less. The repeated challenges just aren't fun after the 100th time. How many times can I find enjoyment in doing the same ten things repeatedly (and yes, I'm considering rerolls with that statement)? I miss the old seals system. This has less variety, more tedious tasks, and less satisfaction from completion.

Corintthac and Zandaduboz, you're good. I can't stand to kill even a single time more. You win. I give up.

I kinda like the tomes and trade bar system, and I do love the upgrade of the UI in U50, but I kinda still feel that there are way too many (20+?!) currencies in the game and none of them are actually related to any in-game economy system (except for the crowns, but those are the "basic" non-gold currency i guess) which makes them difficult to understand for a newcomer and a hassle to handle for everyone.

There is absolutely no reason to differentiate Seals and Trade Bars. Why do we have two separate tabs for the store? It makes zero sense, it's chaotic and hard to follow resulting in a frustrating experience. My recommendation would be to have something that is recognized in-game as well, it would be lovely to see e.g. npcs give a reward sometimes in other ways than the very same amount of gold all the time.

If we decide to keep these so many currencies then I think it would be fair to provide some way to convert them, even at a some kind of loss rate. I understand FOMO is an intended pressure on players, but the current implementation literally just disables the purchase of goods, like now I already collected all Seals I can and still cannot buy the things I want. I would like to have other ways to get the currencies and I also want the currencies to actually make sense.

In a lot of respects, the tome challenges are an improvement over endeavors. I looove not having to worry about missing out because I didn't sign into the game one day. In other respects though, tomes have taken a step backwards. Here are my chief complaints:

    1) Like others have pointed out, the challenges are annoyingly specific right now. Rather than being able to do any three public dungeon group events, for example, we are asked to do any three in Wrothgar - which is to say, we have our pick of two different group events. And given the small pool of challenges, players will almost certainly get these two group events several times over a season, even with rerolls. The crowds around the same handful of world bosses gets pretty old, as well, not to mention digging up the same three antiquities over and over again rather than being able to plug away at any lead on our worklist.

    2) I also miss getting the occasional easy or "freebie" daily endeavor, such as eating two foods or using ultimate abilities three times or even updating an outfit. While some of the current challenges are Indisputably easier than others, I would say they are all intentional and far too many of them ask us to go someplace out of the way and - for longtime players in particular - someplace they've most likely already cleared.

    3) In my opinion, challenges should all be worth the same number of tome points. As it is, I am sure that some players are using rerolls not only to try to get "easier" challenges (or just not the same four challenges over and over again...) but also trying to juggle getting challenges that will net them more points - particularly if they can't or don't want to sub for the 10% bonus tome points or perhaps had to miss play time because real life got in the way. I think the system would be greatly improved if every challenge gave say 450 points - rather than ranging between 350 and 600 points - and the number of repetitions within each challenge were weighted to reflect those 450 total points.

The group push has pushed me to the door. I don't enjoy playing anymore.
The tome challenge for the season is stuck on a group challenge so there are no more seasonal challenges for me.
I used all seven rerolls to remove group challenges from the weekly challenges only to end up with two that refused to roll off group play.

Farming has made the game boring and crowded in newb spots.
I get farming challenges often enough, usually when I reroll from a group challenge. I try to farm as I quest but there are not a lot of resources in dungeons or communities. When I play my new character, I find no resources and the foes for quests are either already dead or chasing after someone who is 2500+ CP farming in newb land.

I have several characters that need to increase their antiquity levels, but doing that on the same three items in areas where I have already played too many times is not fun. It is Especially frustrating when one has to kill foes or clear a quest area to access that dig site. Why would anyone think putting a dig site in a quest area was a good plan?

Standing around waiting for bosses and dolmen to respawn is not a great way to spend gaming time.

Much of what I have to say echoes what many others have said, but I feel like I want to say it anyway. As of today, there are 24 days left of Season Zero and I feel like there is absolutely no good reason to bother with any dailies. I have several thousand Tamriel Tome points over the 2000 roll-over cap and that is after I manually claimed everything that is not a consumable (even though I don't really care about any of those styles). The gold conversion ratio of 10 gold per 1 Tamriel Tome point is not enough to keep me doing the dailies because I could get the same amount of gold faster doing other things in the game (i.e. 70 tome points for doing survey takes an average of 3 minutes, which is only 700 gold...yet I could easily get the same amount of gold by killing a small mob of enemies in 3 seconds).

Instead of going on a rant, I'm thinking discussing solutions is a better option. I want this to succeed because I enjoy the game and want the game to continue to be enjoyable.

Too many Tamriel Tome points and not enough to do with them. In Fallout 76 (another Bethesda game that I also enjoy), the last page of rewards are a list of mostly usable things that can be bought repeatedly. ESO could do something similar and have the repeated purchasable items be something like: Trade Bars; Gold; Alliance Points; Tel Var; Transmute Crystals; XP Scrolls; Mount training scrolls, etc. Basically, a mixture of things that experienced long time players could still use and some things that newer players could use. I like this function in Fallout 76 and it could easily be replicated in ESO with Seasons.

The season rewards are lackluster. Basically add better rewards throughout the season. Basic styles are boring as many of us have so many styles we don't need another and we definitely don't need a dull one to add. More pets, mounts and furnishings would be good. Maybe even a house for a lot of Tamriel Tome points? I'm sure there are many possibilities here and it looks like you're already reviewing better reward options for next season anyway.

I forget the other idea I had now (time lapsed while writing this post), but the above solution could very well solve most of the issues people are having. There would still be a reason to do dailies as long as there were rewards that could be repeatedly purchased that both experienced and new players could use. It also means that the auto-claiming of items that people aren't interested in would not be needed because that is definitely undesirable.

THIS IS HOW I FEEL TOO. If I wanted an item I would have clicked on it. There are things in Tomes that I don't want. Why bother participating AT ALL if at the end of it this stuff gets forced on me no matter what I do, and on top of it I have to PAY for it with my time and effort. NO THANK YOU ZOS.

I realize that I don't have to do any of the "challenges", no one is making me buy crowns and subscribe either.
I realize that items in my inventory can be DESTROYED if I don't want them, but I don't want the Tomes spent on them. Either carry-over or gold at a better ratio than 10 to 1, more like 100 to 1. Come on ZOS, please make Tomes something worth my while. If this isn't do-able than make Tomes no carryover, no forced rewards, no gold, just end the thing like Golden Pursuits.

At first I thought it was okay and liked most of the rewards, but then with the re-roll debacle the cracks appeared (500, 1000, 2,500 etc gold to re-roll??? What are you thinking ZOS??) Then you want to give me just 10 to 1 gold for Tomes?

    Edited for clarity.

@Cin_Vhetin I'll pretty much agree with that take. Most of the collectibles are stuff that I don't mind. They're not necessarily stuff that I would use, but "fashion and furnishings are the true endgame" and all that. The one that irks me is the Werewolf skill style in the Premium Tome. I have never played a werewolf in ESO. I did it a couple of times in Daggerfall back in the day and of course there is the whole Companions thing in Skyrim, but that's about the extent of my fanged furriness. I have no intention of ever being a werewolf, so having Tome Points deducted for something that I will never use kind of sets my teeth on edge. "Good on ya" if someone else does the werewolf thing, but I'd rather not. Just keep that collectible and give me the gold instead.

EDIT to add: clearing out some Tome Points this evening on stuff which might be potentially useful somewhere down the line and noticed something odd. Is there any particular reason why the five Companion 50K commendations don't stack? They do the exact same thing and are the exact same item, yet they eat up five inventory slots rather than the one. Is this an oversight or is ZOS just trying to aggravate folks? Transparency on the question: I have all companions and they are all all max-level so those won't do the existing companions a lick of good and I know that there are no new companions on tap for the remainder of 2026, but additional companions in the future have been "not ruled out" if I understand dev comments correctly, so why occupy five inventory slots while waiting on that?

First of all, I want to thank the new Team at ZOS for introducing so many changes. I see that they are really put a lot of efforts into improving things for us players, and I also see that they are addressing issues raised by players a long time ago.

Having said that, this is my view on Tomes as a senior player (CP3600).

    1) I think it is good to have the challenges grouped into weekly and seasonal. This does not force players to do daily chores, which had become burdensome and time consuming.

    2) I like that you can leave the tasks until the following week, in case you are busy.

    3) "Quality" of free rewards (...)
I raised a long time ago, as part of PTS testing, comments on the "quality" of the free rewards. With very few exceptions, like the furniture and the crown crates, I found the free rewards uninteresting and of no use. As a senior player with a Grand Master Crafter in the family, I do not need nirnhoned items, as I do not need 20k gold, I do not need repair kits or potions or other things clearly addressed to junior players. The weapon style pages are "uninspiring" at best, or rather plain ugly, with no chance of ever been used by any of my characters. I bought all I could buy, even the things I did not need and did not want, and still have a big quantity of Tomes that are of no use. They will be converted into gold. Ok, again, not motivating for senior players like me who can make that amount of gold in one day.

    4) "Quality" of paid rewards (... ...)
I had originally planned to buy the Tomes upgrade, but then, once seen the rewards, I decided not to. Not because of money, but because the rewards are ugly, useless, and solely male-oriented, as always.

I and other players have raised multiple times the point around not making all/the vast majority of rewards male-oriented, because there are female players out there like me. I am tired of seeing weapon style pages, combat items and ugly mounts. You should offer female-oriented items, like more furniture, costumes, recipes, pretty mounts, some new hair style and jewelry. Girly things. Surely you know how girly things looks like now that you have a mostly female management team. This applies to all aspects of Tamriel, not just to Tomes.

In addition: for Premium Tome (paid) I read: "Allows you to continue to progress and unlock rewards from the specific Tome after the Season has ended". Ok but to buy what?? Assuming that I had bought the Premium, on top of having cosmetics that I do not like, not a bit, and on top of having already bought all items, I would have plenty of tome points left to buy what?
And the "Bonus" rewards are as uninteresting as the free ones: the "Monster Slayer"? The "Delve Dagger"? The "Gold Coast Swift Survivor Elixir"? The "Vanos Dungeon Delve Bow"? The "Outfit Change Tokens"? Who needs these?? Ah wait there is a pet: the "Dungeon Delver Theodolite"? Surely you do remember that all players can get a free Theodolite pet from in-game activities. How many Theodolite pets do we need? Also, how many players use the Theodolite as pet? Let's run some MI and see. Surely, a tiny minority. Should I pay extra to get these things that I do not want and do not need, not even if they were free?? Ok there is the wolf mount. Sorry not interested. Most players have much better-looking mounts.

Or the Premium Plus Plus: I read: "Grants two caches of Tome Points (each containing 2,000 Tome Points)". To do what? To buy what? We already have tons of Tome Points left and nothing to buy. Paying to have 4,000 more is useless. Then. we read "Also instantly grants a unique bonus collectible". This "Unique bonus" is a grim costume. There is no "happy" version for female players, something not scary/deadly/skeletony/zombiey/deathy/ you get the gist. There is only this grim costume that I would never use, not even for free, so no point in paying anything for it.

    5) Which takes me to the core point of these Tomes: I like the idea, but I find the execution unsatisfactory. By not listening to players (not just me), by not creating interesting rewards aimed at all, not only at males, by not thinking that senior players are actually the core of the game, because we have invested so many hours and are attached to our life in Tamriel, you miss opportunities and income.

Let's see whether you will improve the next Tomes, or whether most of us will continue to stick to the free Tomes only.

    Cheers
