Are they fixing 'A Study In Discipline'?

So the way this quest works now is that you have to pick a subclassing line that you, apparently, "haven't mastered" for it to progress the quest. I have somehow mastered most subclassing lines and still have 10 characters to do this quest on. Are they fixing this quest in Update 50 or is it going to be impossible for me to do this quest after the next two characters?

In the image below, the ribbon icon is for lines you haven't "mastered."

So is this bug exclusive to PC or does it require doing something very specific?
i have not encountered it on Playstation 5 with any characters.

When you say "mastered" are you referring to the Class achievements?
That should only require having a character of each class at level 50.

But i have completed the Subclassing on multiple characters and i had all class skill lines mastered before update 46 released.

But personally, I'm not on there to test it, not sure if it will resolve the specific issue mentioned by OP. Maybe someone on PTS has more insight.

There's nothing to fix. If there are no unmastered lines (if there is no ribbon available), then you can pick any line to advance the quest. The ribbon requirement exists only if there are ribbons available.

The bad thing about this quest is ZOS's confusing language where "subclass" in this context means "it needs to have a ribbon", and people get confused by that. And all the problems that I've seen reported have all arisen from that confusion.

Having just done this for the first time the other day, it is confusing but @code65536 is correct. The key is differentiating between class skill mastery (per base class skill line per character) and subclass mastery (per available skill line per account).

The only other thing to keep in mind with the current version of this quest as far as I am aware is that you can still have a maximum of only three unmastered subclass lines active per account at any one time; once a subclass skill line has been mastered you can swap it out, but you're stuck with it until then.

My alt account was completely blocked by this (or similar) and when I contacted support (
260408-001282), they told me to read the forums and ask other players for help instead. So, I just gave up and haven't played that account since...

In my case, I was somehow already able to subclass initially, as is evident by having classes from multiple lines already... but I couldn't subclass anywhere, so I wanted to complete the quest to unlock that functionality. But I was unable to complete the quest and appeared to be stuck...

But based on your description about this quest caring about lines that aren't mastered or whatever I started messing around with it... I wanted to get a clip of me replicated the issue I was facing, and instead I got a clip of that and fixing it by adding an unmastered line instead.

Bottom line, completing this quest was entirely too confusing my second time around. I don't know if that's because I ignored some of the text and just powered through trying to unlock the game mechanics I was already familiar with, or if there's actually some issues with the progression that was holding me back.

Anyway, thank you for mentioning that bit about it caring about unmastered lines, I can play my alt account again!
