NM Faction scores are flawed

Since day one the ranking is the same.... How can we seriously pretend these are working ? What's the point of it all ?

So, what is your Problem?

The Monsterset from 1000 Eyes is for DDs.
Most People play DD.
So the Majority goes to 1000 Eyes.

Next Time there will be another Faction in Front (Ruckus I think)

If everyone is locked into their choice for the duration of the NM and all 3 factions have player populations with comparable average play patterns, that is the expected result.

I think they will adjust or do something about this moving forward. Ive offered suggestions like raising the favor gain based on faction population and things like that. Im not saying that's the answer either. This Event had a pretty nice rollout and so much of it is very good. Im excited to see how they tweak it and adjust it, but I truly hope to see more events like this.

I have accounts distributed across all factions (because fragments and ingredients from all three are required for the event recipe and consumable).

I checked the ranked rewards, didn't even factor into the equation vs the above.

Pretty sure the difference between the ranks at the end of this iteration is just how upgraded the rewards are (gold vs purple) or something like that?

The scores are more for bragging right than anything 'real'.

I'm more annoyed that the score is constantly changing, I'd rather just see it change a few times a day, not a few times a minute.

There is already different amounts of favor for different factions. Not any of the big gains like bosses or quests but the random orbs are different. I'm with Goad on PS and the orbs give 15. On PC with Eyes they only give 5.

I think that's about right. Much more than that would be unfair to the vast majority of players. They would have to work much harder with favor being linked to other things like the bank in the house, the dye and a big chunk of tome points

Hopefully when it comes back later in the year it'll be a more even split

You can either hide the HUD score tracker or make it to show something actually useful (skirmish status) using an addon.

Eyes got the players because of the Monster Sets. The current ratio is about 4:1:1

If we a 50/50 split between the non-taken factions.

Eyes becomes 0:2:2
Goad becomes 0.5:0.5:0
Ruckus becomes 0.5:0.5:0

So overal - 1:2.5:2.5

The same ratio would then apply the third time around as well. So basically, Eyes should enjouy their victory, as they are not getting another.

I totally agree that Eyes have no chance the next round.

However, if we accept the thesis "most of the participants have chosen a faction because of the monster set", we should apply it to the next iteration.
This way, a 50/50 split is not a realistic prognosis. The same amount of players will choose Ruckus or Goad by monster set qualities, and I doubt there will be parity.

Let's say that the number of players who chose by color, style, RP, etc. are the same for every faction. These parts will probably split 50/50 as you said.
So their average 1:1:1 will turn to the same 1:1:1.
While the rest (3) that chose the 1000eyes by monster set will either all move to one faction with the best set of two, or split in a ratio like supports/dds (1:5 in social guilds I checked, but you can suggest other). As a result, it will be either 3 parts to only one side or split 0.5/2.5 between two.

So I guess that NM2 will have a faction distribution somewhere like 1:1:4 or 1:1.5:3.5

Nothing exciting in Ruckus. The Major Force looks interesting, but the downside of reduced recovery is a bit expensive for its worth. Especially when Saxophone and Horn give the same buff for the whole group without the downside. I'd rather have one healer slot the Horn or OT slot the Saxophone, than all DDs use their monster set space for this particular set.

So my guess is the Glittering Goad's frost damage + brittle when bashing or heavy attacking is the next faction to win when everyone farms that one. Might be situationally useful against bosses with many ads or trash pulls with strong elites in the mix.

Goad is second place on both PC/NA and PC/EU, so if I had to guess they'll be the winning faction next time (but probably not by as ludicrous of a margin).

But... that's assuming that ZOS doesn't scale the score by faction population next time. If they do (and they absolutely should), then there's no predicting who will win, and there might actually be competition.

The issue is that it is not really a competition. From the start, everyone chose the main faction. So I don't see why we get different rewards in the end because if you chose another faction, you could not do anything about it anyway.

The real problem is that as tings stand the ranking is meaningless.
I'm having fun with NM but i wish i could remove the scoring and the golden pursuit reminder from my monitor.

There are positives in being the less populated faction for example the ingredient associated with the new recipe "tonic of potent favor" sells for a lot wile the blue faction one is worth really little.

Faction was chosen for the set, the dye color, or where others in the guild were going. It will be interesting to see how the factions split next time, but I have not heard anyone that is actually caring about the score in NM.

I'm not sure why ZOS thought this faction score would matter, or drive interest in the zone. The focus is not on whether the faction wins or not. The focus is on getting to 5k or 10k favor for the unlocks, completing the achievements, and completing the dungeon and trial.

It's new content, supposedly heavy on open world grouping. When I came in, one "faction" already had a big lead, so I joined that faction assuming there would be more players in that faction's zone to group up with.

Didn't know that the factions are fake and determine only the reward, or that to group up you need to use GF anyway.

Showing the score right from the start is bound to make everyone fall in with the "winner", but keeping the score secret and locking out 2/3 of the players from rewards for a fake competition would be even worse. Next time just let us donate our points to the faction of our choice at the end of the event, and make the chosen faction the winner for each individual player.

The split on PC is insane. Consoles (or at least PS EU) it isn't quite that bad. Eyes have just over twice the others, 60% ish I'd say

In theory if most people from Goad and Ruckus go to Eyes next to time (and it could happen, it's still the best monster set) and current Eyes are split over the other two it could be pretty close here.

There's also gonna be people coming and going, some who sat out this time giving it a try and others that joined this time and decide they don't need to do it again.

You're probably right and Eyes will be bottom from now on, but you never know!

The community chose this outcome. Ruckus made some bank though on PC-NA.

The irony is, the real reward belongs to people who joined the losing faction. The recipe fragments and ingredients from Ruckus are worth many times more than those from Eyes. And the random favor balls that you encounter are worth 6x as much if you're in Ruckus.

The vastly higher recipe fragment/ingredient value means that the real winners are Ruckus (and to a lesser extent, Goad) members. Getting a chance at an extra gold decon mat at the end for Eyes doesn't even come close.

Most of my characters are DDs, so the Monster Helm set for Eyes is much more useful than the other two. Since NM will come back in Season Two and I'll already have the stuff from Eyes, I'll probably go with Goad for the dye and then repeat with Ruckus if/when it makes a third appearance.

On the flip side of all that, players who joined the other two factions are making a small mint off of their factions' recipe fragments and ingredients. Prices for the Eyes stuff is so low that I'm not even bothering anymore.
