Ya know if you guys are tracking worlds first type of content, you should really be upfront about it. It would be a great way to get people invested in new content. I’ve brought this up before, but ZOS marketing needs to step it up. World’s first races are fun to watch, in this case I don’t think anyone even knew a race was going on.

But... I didn't realize that people cared. There's no HM, and the main obstacle is the time gate of grinding out relics, so I didn't expect anyone to care about a "world first". @Kyzeragon led a group that cleared it Thursday morning (not because we were racing for a world first clear of the trial, but because we just liked the trial so much from PTS), but we didn't bother resetting for death because why would we? We need to run it twice again anyway for the affinity achievement. If we had known that ZOS would make a big deal out of a first no-death and that there was supposed to be competition, we (and likely other groups too) might have actually given it a try.

So that's +1 for ZOS better communicating these things in the future.

People do it anyway. The cards disappeared in the past few years and people still competed for world first. But without these cards, it can be hard to figure out who actually won. I tried to collect world first data for dungeons because dungeons seem to be under-recorded compared to the trial world firsts and it's difficult without these cards and without being friends with any of the scorepushers involved. Honestly, makes it hard to feel motivated to try also because even if I knew the right people to try (and had that level of skill), it could very well happen that we could get world first, not have the network to declare it, and then another group gets crowned.

I'm not involved with scorepushing at the moment so I don't have an intimate opinion on if this should've been advertised ahead of time, but from an outsider's view, it would have been nice for the suspense. I recall waiting for a dungeon world first declaration to see if my guildies won or if it was pc/eu (it was pc/eu : ( ), was fun.

They would be meaningless achievements so long as Trials and Dungeons are available on the PTS. There are guilds who specifically do runs on the PTS just to get the ND/SR/Trifecta the moment it hits Live.

A far more meaningful piece of marketing would be giving credit to those who do these things without venturing onto the test server to learn it.

Content creators should also be barred from publishing guides until the content has been live for 1 - 2 weeks.

I just watched a friend's guild race for a world first clear in a very large MMO this week. It took 25 people 9.5 straight hours before they gave up, after hours and days and weeks of practice on the test server before launch.

That mindset leads to burnout, requires people to compromise on their real-world responsibilities, and encourages an obsessive grindset that's bad for the community and the reputation of MMOs. It's an unbalanced life and immoderate approach to games.

In comparison, I wouldn't mind a better quarterly/yearly scoring system to track which guilds ran endgame content the fastest, died least, completed the most side objectives, etc. That way groups can progress at the highest level of competitive play with flexibility to play when their group wants to, not has to. And get more official recognition for it, inspiring others and helping advertise the game.
