Maintenance for the week of May 11:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – May 11
We will be performing maintenance for patch 12.0.4 on the PTS on Monday at 12:00AM EDT (4:00 UTC).

So wait, PvPers no longer have an event where we can earn Trade Bars by PvPing?

That seems kind of discriminatory no?

If I like questing, there's tons of quest events I can earn Trade Bars in.

If I like crafting, there's an event I can earn Trade Bars in.

If I like Dungeons and Trials, there are events I can earn Trade Bars in.

If I like PvP, welp too bad I can't earn Trade Bars during the PvP event.

Why? I always looked forward to being able to earn Event Tickets in Whitestrake's because it meant I got to continue doing what I enjoy in the game instead of taking time out of my playtime to do something else.

@ZOS_Kevin Will there be some other way to earn Trade Bars through PvP events in the future?

If I had to guess, because neither the devs want to pvp anymore, nor do they want it for the casual public.
Now there is no incentive for them to flock into Cyrodiil and the Imperial City to get farmed. That is likely the reason.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_Kevin I can not even begin to articulate how absolutely insulting it is that the ONE pvp event won't offer the event ticket replacement (trade bars). I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PVE EVENTS. Taking away our event rewards is a massive slap in the face. Whoever's idea this was has no business making these decisions.

Yeah I don't like this change either. I didn't mind doing IC Dailies or Cropsford Dailies for tickets (now bars).
Even if the event is more common, so what? We've been given a *** more things to buy. PvPers have every right to be angry about this, but it's also a bad sign of future cases where more sources of bars will get removed, and that's not good for ANYONE.
    Hoping for more playable races.

I just want werewolf to be viable in endgame PvE T.T (which not allowed according to PTS update 50)

Yeah, the removal of trade bars is pretty bad. I know it would still have new motifs, but the event really seems like it got downgraded to a battlegrounds weekend. I'm assuming they removed trade bars due to the complaints that happen every single Whitestrakes and that this was an attempt at reducing FOMO in the game, but the addition of Vengeance and no limit on Trade Bars should have been more than enough to reduce the FOMO that surrounds a Quester during Whitestrakes. Trade Bars should still be given.

There's an enormous number of style motifs that will become available via the Impresario and Philus Dormer in the new version of Whitestrakes Mayhem, so keep your eyes open for trade bar opportunities between now and then.

So you can't even earn the rewards by playing the event the rewards are in. Whoever's idea this was should be fired on the spot.

It felt like mockery when the next paragraph in the notes told us all the amazing new things the Impressario will carry, but you aren't earning anything to buy them with.

Those Impressario items are excessively expensive in comparison to how many trade bars we earn and how infrequently we do. 300 bars for some nick nack like a previous anniversary cake is shameless. And also 1000 bars for some other plunder I saw.

Bleh. Honestly it was Mayhem that got me to try PvP for the first time in ESO because I had no idea what Cyro/IC or BGs were all about. Yeah I died many times, but getting the event tickets was the motivation I needed to keep trying.

The only upside is that we won't hear as many players complaining about having to PvP.

Hopefully players still participate in enough numbers. I love the games of hide and seek with my NB when IC gets busy.

I really don't agree with this decision though.

I don't PvP, and I don't like how during Events SOME PvPers will just camp the quest areas to jump people trying to pick up/turn in quests, but addressing the concerns of PvEers getting ganked/farmed in this manner isn't a good fix. There are any other number of things that ZOS could implement, such as making an area around each quest giver a safe zone, that cut down on that sort of behavior without also punishing PvPers as a whole.

I mean that still doesn't excuse the fact that they're removing an event currency from an event, no?

Why even remove the ability to earn it during Whitestrake's in the first place? Just cut the currency earned in half if the event will be more often.

I don't mind MYM changing to be one week long, four times a year. That seems like it'll be a great change to me.

I absolutely hate that we're removing rewards from PVP related content when it's desperately needed more for years now. The PVP veterancy system on the PTS is lacking at best. It feels like very little creativity went into designing the late capstone rewards, and having the earlier ranks dominated by vengeance-specific unlocks just feels awful for those of us not interested in vengeance.

Would really like to see the team reconsider this one. ZoS loses nothing by letting us PVP players earn a few trade bars via these events.

Preparing to earn tickets thru Whitestrakes was my first experience of PVP too. 5 years later having played PVP every single day since, its a shame to hear future potential new PVP mains will be robbed of that experience.

I primary play PvE. I do sometimes do PvP but not super often. It is crazy to me that the trade bars are being removed from this event. Also if there are "a lot of style pages" available from the impresario during the event how will people buy them AP or Tel Var? It seems silly. I understand there is part of the player base who does not PvP but they could be included with a daily not in a PvP zone where you go collect things for the war effort or something and then bring them to your alliance camp (in a PvP zone but in the save area so the person never has to actually go PvP). One quest per faction would cover it and it would still be easier to just go do an IC quest for most.

The rewards on PTS seem heavily weighted towards Vengeance specific rewards. A game system that is extremely unpopular with the vast majority of regular PVP players

Hear me out, if this is going to happen (really it should be 2 weeks, not 1, but anyway…), ZOS should add a toggle on the weekly tasks to where you can have purely pve tasks or purely pvp tasks. Wouldn’t help too much with the trade bars, I guess (unless ZOS adds pvp modes to every event… yk like… snowball fights… please :D) but it’d be something beneficial.

Im a pvper, I dont even know what a tome or a bar is. Endeavor? Never heard of her.

In all seriousness we always cry for pvp rewards, but what is there to reward? Older players like me or even players 2-3 years in that only pvp have next to no needs. Just going down my list all I could care about is maybe potion mats, gold mats to try new gear, gold food mats......and thats about it.

I suppose event tickets for account unlocks would be the only other thing I could care about, if there was anything special like cosmetics, mounts, or titles that are usable in pvp.
IMO having the ap vendors selling perfect tristat potions was a mistake. You would have been better off having a lesser potion for new players sold there. Then had AP purchasable alchemy mats to drive the ingame economy and incentivize pvp. Even looking at IC the only reason I go there is for hakeijos and alchemy bags. Sadly other systems could have been made to give pvp rewards to sell. For instance scribing skills could have had scripts purchaseable in pvp which could have been sold into the market as consumables upon crafting instead of the goofy throwaway currency that has no weight.

On the flip side zos could revitilize the ap vendors to sell pve gear. So you could get non perfected trial gear with ap boxes. Giving PvP players entry into pve content without having to grind for months to get into a proper pve guild. Bridge the barrier to entry for content giving people better chances at socializing and potentially continue playing the game.

Transmutes are a decent reason to pvp.....however it is not a consistent thing. Players join, run to a keep, get a single tick and log out for the monthly reward. Cmon for me to even get a single monster helm its atleast 30mins to an hour....Sometimes hours of dragging cp160 pugs through a vet dlc dungeon on a pvp character having to tank, dps, and heal for them at the same time. Getting a shoulder is a good couple of hours of farming pledges for keys still. Can we just reward people for actually doing the content. Maybe actually reward people for getting a PvP Kill or healing someone on the brink of death?

I wouldn't overreact so soon, they said the event is meant to be more common so they plan to do it once every 3 months in 2027. That alone is a huge sell I'd be willing to lose Trade Bars over.

However, Trade Bars can be obtained in new ways now via Golden Pursuits or Tome Passes that line up with these events so who's to say they don't have a unique one with Whitestrakes that contains not just trade bars, but tome points, a skill style, and a unique costume or mount. The PTS has shown it's possible to do mini Tome Passes to pump up the release of new content and Golden Pursuits are used for a similar process.

To me, that's way more interesting than "turn in 1 quest a day" and I bet most events in the future will shift to this design. It eliminates the micro managing, daily login, job requirement, to instead doing a 2-3 hour session on Friday night which is much more attractive for the casual audience they're aiming for.

Plus, trade bars are pretty easy to get in comparison to tickets, and you can stock up indefinitely on so I don't really see it as a huge loss. Within the past 3-4 weeks I've accumalted more than 6,000 and ran out of things I care about to purchase once I got all the skill styles. I still hope it's provided during future PVP events, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it if it wasn't. Still, they could of clarified in the FAQ, it's pretty important.

But that only applies to PvPers and the PvEers who put themselves through Cyro/IC to get Tickets in the past. It wouldn't impact a larger number of players who already don't bother with Mayhem, and only negatively affects PvPers really. If they wanted to lower the amount of Trade Bars the playerbase overall gets, they could just lessen them from the current sources.

To me, that's way more interesting than "turn in 1 quest a day" and I bet most events in the future will shift to this design. It eliminates the micro managing, daily login, job requirement, to instead doing a 2-3 hour session on Friday night which is much more attractive for the casual audience they're aiming for.

Yeah this is one of my biggest gripes with the game for a while. First and foremost this is a videogame that people want to play the content. Why are we making chores that are boring instead of finding ways to streamline getting people to play real content?

Why are MMO's dying? Why does Fortnite have 1.4m daily players, yet ESO only has 10-15k. Maybe because it takes less than a few minutes to start up my computer and begin playing the exact content I want to. Versus in ESO I get home from 8hrs of school/work......spend 1-2hours doing house chores and making dinner.....then get spend 30 mins logging in and loading up my characters. Then 2-4 hours of login chores.......then maybe doing some actual content IF a friend is online and done with their chores by 10pm.......Ok now that we decided on a form of content we have to each spend half an hour to an hour logging in and out of 8 characters to shift gear around and go craft stuff........Maybe we finally get into a bg after an hour que............ANNNND would you guess what, MMR reset and we only fight cp160 brand new players not wearing pvp gear. At the end of the day the content I get to play is either griefing little kids on the playground or afking in spawn.

Why are pvp server pops so low? Why are dungeon ques impossibly long? where are the zone trial groups? Why is nobody helping at this world boss? Its because half the population is stuck doing daily login chores because some corporate meeting only cared about player logins on a chart instead of people enjoying the content and sticking around longterm.

    I only use insightful
BG MMR should NOT reset, zos sponsored smurfing is a terrible design choice.
PvP needs more incentives, even simple potion mats or gold would be better than rewards for the worthy inventory bloat

Why not have two "big" events that will provide trade bars and add two "small" ones that will not provide trade bars?

Color this one confused. Tickets (Trade Bars) are rewards in Whitestrake's events. Whitestrake's isn't until summer. Zeal was up in PTS1, so Whitestrake's probably in PTS2, which does not go up until tomorrow. Did this one miss yet another memo?

EDIT: Yes, this one just saw the new patch notes, which were not expected yet. Confusion dispelled.

I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

    What's changed?
Whitestrakes is now a one-week event. It no longer gives out Trade Bars (formerly event tickets) through any of its activities while it is live.

If I had to guess, because neither the devs want to pvp anymore, nor do they want it for the casual public.
Now there is no incentive for them to flock into Cyrodiil and the Imperial City to get farmed. That is likely the reason.
That doesn't make sense though. Why punish the people who like PvP (and who might not take part in many of the PvE Events) because of PvEers?

I don't PvP, and I don't like how during Events SOME PvPers will just camp the quest areas to jump people trying to pick up/turn in quests, but addressing the concerns of PvEers getting ganked/farmed in this manner isn't a good fix. There are any other number of things that ZOS could implement, such as making an area around each quest giver a safe zone, that cut down on that sort of behavior without also punishing PvPers as a whole.

I wonder what else could be the cause. It was all I could think of. The only other reason that comes to my mind is that they simply want us to get less trade bars, and the pvp event was the unfortunate chosen.

So why do you think they did it?
