I don't have ESO+ or premium tomes but from what I read you should not open your point caches you don't need now. That way you can transfer them to next seasons.

But if you opened them already and are above 2000 points, you will lose the excess of points.

The point caches should also only be used as a catch up mechanic near the end of the season. But it seems many people have opened them all to unlock everything on day 1 of 97. That is not how battlepasses work. You should grind out some challenges during the season.

Very strange design decision from the devs.

Yeah they have implemented this very badly. I have seen a lot of confusion everywhere. I have also noticed a lot of ESO players are also not familiar with the battlepass concept which makes it even more confusing for many people.

The unequal RNG challenges, the rerolls, the login challenge, the naming of everything, the page unlocks, the premium tokens, the tome caches, the seasonal point cap, the super unattractive pixellated UI, the ESO+ benefits, the trade bars, the bazaar, the seals,...

The system is overdesigned and needlessy complex compared how other games handle a simple battlepass concept and an ingame cosmetic shop.

This is correct.

Specifically, I subscribed for 12 months in October of last year. ZOS gave me 9 Premium Tome Tokens to cover January through September of this year.

I can either do a monthly subscription starting in October of this year and switch back to an annual subscription in January once I reach 12 Premium Tome Tokens... or I can keep subscribing annually every October and never get the chance to spend those excess Premium Tome Tokens.

I prefer the annual subscription because it's a better value per month. I also like subscribing in October because I like using the Crowns I get from subscribing toward things that are werewolf-related. Halloween is generally a big time of year for that.

How much am I willing to put up with seeing 9 Premium Tome Tokens I can't use? Do I really want to pay slightly more for the monthly subscription and renew the annual subscription in January of every year?

This especially annoys me. It's not a reward if you can't use it for anything. It would be fine if there was a way to purchase more with real money, and therefore at least use what we have to get a discount, but as it is, what was the point of giving them to us at all?!

I would like to be able to turn unused tome points into premium tokens, actually, which also seems a fair way to deal with the tome points vs tome caches problem as well, even if it was only a one-time solution for this season. But yes, I agree that would be another great way to deal with the problem, and I'm all for it.
