One thing I'd really love fixed, from a console player's perspective at least, is the targeting.

There was a thread last year detailing some of the pain with it, but I'll reiterate it through a tale or two.

I was doing the quest to unlock Mirri. During this quest, I found my reticle not taking priority in which target was selected. So, for instance, my target reticle is pointed at the quest object. However, Mirri somehow opened her dialogue because she was between my camera and my reticle. Then in other situations, there's some distant grappling bow post that gets priority, even though I'm trying to activate something closer to me and my reticle.

Part of the issue here is Companion pathing, where they just keep getting in the way. The line between me and a lootable object should be sacrosanct. But the fundamental issue is really competing priorities in the looting system.

Then even looting and basic object interaction is problematic. I find I often jump, even though the loot/interact button prompt is available to me. It seems like prompts happen too soon. If a target is out of range, I shouldn't see a prompt until it's in range and interactable.

This isn't just console or controllers. I have this same issue on PC

Bug 1 - Kills from necromancer pets (Blastbones) are not credited to the owner of the pet in PvP

Bug 2 - Break free doesn't work reliably

Bug 3 - Being knocked into walls, etc. by knockbacks causing your character to get stuck in the world geometry

Bug 4 - Z axis issues with certain skills. I notice it mostly with Dawnbreaker or Crescent Sweeps. If someone is slightly below you, the skill will not hit them.

    Top Pain Points

Pain Point 1 - Inventory! I hate having to search through over 13 characters to find that one piece of armor! We need a means of tracking it.

Pain Point 2 - Charm! This one never should have entered the game.

Pain Point 3 - Chain CC! It is a total annoyance to be stunned several times within a few seconds when break free does work.

I've just thought of another pain point, brought up with another forum thread. Acquiring Transmutes!

For some reason ZOS doesn't think solo players need or want transmute crystals, so they lock them mostly behind group content, even though the majority of players play solo (or mostly solo). This needs to change. The solo content that you can acquire transmutes, like ToT, is not fun... at all.

IMO, they need to add transmutes as rewards for soloing any dungeon or give them as rewards for completing quests- perhaps 1 per completion of each full quest chain.

    Top Pain Points

    • Visual and audio effect overload, to the point where a prominent epilepsy warning is needed. (The settings you are working on can't come soon enough.)
    • I really don't want to see companions and cosmetic pets.
    • No CC. There are many scenes that need to be watched for the story, but without CC someone hard of hearing or just can't use their headset right then gets none of it. Additional example: for the Sage drink, the NPC gives instructions only verbally while you are making it. (CC as in closed captioning)
    • Economy. While nice in theory, small out of the way guild trader spots have nothing because no one will go there to buy them. Before One Tamriel, players worked through zones and those were the traders they had access to. Today it seems like it's Rawl'ka, Mournhold, or nothing. Unless you are in one of those guilds you are severely hampered from participating in the economy at all.
    • Inventory, collectibles, furniture, banks, house storage; gold, writ vouchers, crowns, event tokens... it's a gordian knot of things to keep track of. Let me look through every character, container and bank from one place. Bonus: Folders, so you can group things together like monster sets, trial sets, etc.
    • Quest markers that don't go away on your compass. Talk to someone and don't want that trial quest to sit there constantly? Hide it. Don't do writs? Hide them. Change your mind? Have a place to re-enable them.
    • Too many item sets. Can we retire ones that no one uses? Bonus: incorporate the mod "Item Set Browser"
    • Controversial point: Animation cancelling and light attack weaving. It's been in ESO forever, but they really don't make sense from a combat perspective. (And before anyone jumps down my throat, yes I can do it. It's still dumb.)

1 - dungeon queue finder takes forever if the group leader is a healer or tank!
2 - getting kicked out of Cyrodiil during events and the re-queue taking anywhere up to an hour to get back in.
3 - stop the companions equipped with range weapons from effectively running away from adds/bosses as they often leave the area and reset the boss also if they are set up as a tank, make them able to take hits as a tank (they are too squishy) and they don’t interrupt sometimes even if they have taunt.
4 - Moongrave Fane, cube gets stuck in the sky on the last boss and cannot be moved
5 - accessibility - what about people who have colour blindness? Often the colours used red green blue purple are colours that people with colour blindness can’t see. In the accessibility menu, can you give the person the option to select colours for boss mechanics. For example in black gem foundry in the last boss u need to stand in a red/green/yellow circle that the boss does not have. My friend can’t see red green so this makes them not wish to complete this dungeon. And the bright white lights at the end of sequences/quests etc…maybe tone that down a bit for people with epilepsy?

    Top Pain Points
1 - The ability to forget/delete antiquities that you have already dug up 3 or more leads for or simply don’t want. It clogs up the antiquity leads and if they are gold leads it will prevent you picking up more of them.
2 - the ability to deconstruct furnishings into furnishing material.
3 - sync style motifs, food/drink recipes and furnishing plans over all characters so we don’t have to designate a single character as a crafter
4 - lower the cost of attunable crafting stations. I don’t have the materials or the writs that will allow me to buy the attunable crafting stations for all the sets and will never populate my master crafting stations as there are always new sets being released. Or give us the ability to craft attunable stations in woodwork or blacksmithing stations then upgrade them in the enchanting station so they become attunable?
5 - when creating a new character, give us the option to sync our map and quest completions over from another character. I have fully completed the main story and zones on 2 characters but my maps on others are empty and it is painful to complete content on due to no Wayshrines etc
6 - remove the companion quests re-appearing when max rapport has already been achieved. I know u can lose rapport but you can build it up again by doing other things. I hate having to re-do companion quests.
7 - make achievements that have time aspects more realistic or actually achieveable. For instance the boss in Moongrave fane that you need to cover 3 lava spouts with a cube in 5 seconds of each other. How is that even possible!? What if the player is older? what if they have issues with their hands? Trying to coordinate 4 people to do an achievement like that is extremely difficult.
8 - a return to the original way of levelling a character for example where you started in Stonefalls and finished in The Rift, that would take your to level 50/cp1 then allowing questing in any zone. A lot of people don’t know the story/lore as they start in dlc zones. Maybe give us the option when creating a new character to follow the “anniversary levelling guide” old way or the “one Tamriel” open world way
9 - create a difficulty in between normal and veteran for dungeons and trials. Normal trials for experienced players can be too easy at times and veteran dungeons for some can be too difficult to complete because the dps requirement is too high. Also can you incorporate some hard mode mechanics into the veteran run as often people don’t know any or can prepare for some of the mechanics in hard mode.
10 - more achievements for normal difficulty level activities. Seeing friends get awesome achievements, titles, dyes and other rewards for difficult content is great but what about those who do not have the capacity to do hard modes or vet content? They always get left out of rewards.

Also, when you enter a dungeon alone, there's nothing to indicate which version of the dungeon you're entering. It would be great if the dungeon name and version or something displayed on the screen for a few seconds upon entering. I know if you enter the dungeon through the door, IIRC (haven't done it for a while), it asks which version you want. But if you port in directly, there's nothing.

The loading splash screen will have a giant shield with crossed swords watermark on it if it's a Vet dungeon. It's the same as the vet icon, just full screen. Technically, this appears on any dungeon, but on normal, it'll disappear quickly long before the splash screen goes away.

Once you're in, just open your map and look at the giant title. If it's Vet, it'll say so in parentheses after the name. I don't use a gamepad, so maybe the map title is in a different spot in that mode.

One pain point, I would like to see addressed is the daily quests in the Imperial City. Right now, you have to go into each zone, collect the quest, and then go back to the base before you can collect another daily quest. It would be nice if I could just go up to a board, collect them all, and then complete them.

Pain point. Please. For the love of kittens... make dyes actually transfer their colors accurately. If I'm trying to find a red dye, and all of the red dyes are shades of purple or green, it ain't red. Make the color be that of the little dye square. I've never seen any game ever be this colorblind.

I'm currently angry enough to move one to the tip-top of my list: I want to be able to disable other players' mount visual effects. I accidentally jumped off a cliff because someone's super-flashy "look at me!" radiant apex mount spawned in at the same time that I was mounting my plain-jane "let's not annoy other players" mount. My screen (3rd person, btw) glared out and I wasn't facing the direction I thought I was, but couldn't see that because of their mount effects. You want to flash-bomb other players? Fine. It's your crowns and spend 'em how you'd like. But give me the option to turn off that stuff because I definitely don't want to have to look at it. And while we're at it, how about the option to turn off other players' audio effects, too?
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

With all the recent quality of life changes by zos, I'd like to layout some of my top pain points for the next patches. I play in a completionist perspective, and collect random stuff after fulfilling the achievement bar as of update 48.

    Top Pain Points
    1. Make maelstrom arena side weapons drop every round, similar to vateshran

I'm currently farming the stickerbook, and there are around 60 set pieces of the side sets (winterborn, para bellum etc.) to collect. Having to spend over 30 minutes and complete the arena over and over again is quite tedious, and I believe this was also addressed by other players in a seperate forum post. It'd be a nice QoL change to make the sets drop every round instead of as an end-reward for finishing the arena.

    2. Easier way to obtain arena gladiator proofs

A similar change was made to the battlemaster tokens, where we now get this medal drop from every battleground quest instead of the win quest only. The only quest that currently drops this from cyrodiil are the conquest ones, and to be honest, they take a lot of time. There are also A LOT of collectibles that can be only obtained by arena gladiator proofs, and that are bound on top of that. I'd suggest to make this drop from the other cyrodiil dailies too - maybe not the town or scout quests if they are way too easy, but from the capture keep/resource, kill 20 x class players and the scroll captures as well. Also to lower the kill 150 players (seriously, why was this increased from 40 at all?) back to a lower rate. I play at non-prime times mostly, and it's not quite possible for me to get this in a day.

    3. Serious bugfixes for the missing eidetic memory bugs

I have stopped collecting them since there are still unobtainable books are not fixed since patches ago. There should be more effort on this matter, especially since there is a large player feedback and a megathread regarding this.

    4. Achievements coming out before they are released

I mean, I guess this isn't too important but is a bit of a personal pain point for me and a few others :) The dungeon motifs coming out after 6 months especially has evaded me a lot from seeing the achievement bar full haha. I'd like to be at least some "safe-point" during the year, like 2-3 months so that players have the chance to fullfill their achievement bar

Stop changing/updating animations of mounts, full stop. This is now the second time that I’ve bought a mount with crowns and then sometime later I discover that the animations of it have been changed. This first happened with the Duo Dwarven spider mount (gold with blue glow then changed to gold with center red glow and blue disappears) and now the Glowgill Guar (changed from purple/blue cloud that would persist for a while during movement to now a short burst of blue then nothing). I’m also angry about the flashiness and over saturation of the new dragon knight animations to the point that I can’t play my main toon anymore (poison stam dk RIP).

    1. Not enough Guild Slots (seriously why even limit this to so few?)
    2. Forced to interact with minigames/gimmicks to farm for gear (If i want to go play a convoluted game of magic the gathering or Bejeweled vs minesweeper i'll go play those and not ESO)
    3. Class imbalance since U49 - DK is broken af.
    4. Having to report bugs and give feedback on a forum instead of a dedicated bug tracker where legitimate or valid feedback often gets 'snipped' by overly sensitive moderators or otherwise lost to the general noise of the masses.
    5. the growing feeling that ZOS relies too heavily on the community to do its bug testing instead of a dedicated QA Team where a small percentage of the former often uses PTS to find exploits and doesn't report them so they can be used in Live where the latter with the right amount of resources could find such issues before they go live, Also see point 4.

    Hello!

I'm not going to waste space with bugs. Most of the ones I've experienced have already been detailed more than once, no need to continue beating that horse. So here are some of my top pain points, with detailed explanation as to why they're pain points:

    1. Furnishing Inventory & Management

Decorating is one of the many joys I take from ESO. I have more collected houses than I do un-collected, and I slowly but surely find my way to acquiring at least one new house every year, usually furnished. And the recent increase in furnishing limits on existing homes is certainly going to make decorating more enjoyable.

What I don't find enjoyable is trying to manage the insane number of furnishing items I've ended up with. Many of my Notable homes, instead of getting decorated, have been relegated to furniture warehouses, packed near to capacity like twisted Ikea stores. Season Zero is going to introduce over 100 new furnishings, many of which need to be used/crafted in multiples to be of any real use. The few player addons to help with furniture inventory either don't do the job quite well enough, or have been abandoned and no longer work at all.

So where am I supposed to put all this stuff?

The Furniture Vault, an ESO+ feature, was a great idea, that I feel was implemented poorly. From what I understand, it was designed to function as an in-Home bank, with the 500-item (stacked) limit. This is, at least for me, virtually useless, and hardly rates as an ESO+ perk. I, and I'm sure other Decorators, would find it far more useful if it functioned more like the Crafting Bag, one of ESO+'s best perks. Unlimited inventory, in one easy to manage/browse/preview location (like the Decorating window, perhaps?). That would qualify it as a worthy ESO+ perk, streamline the entire furniture management process, and free up all our Notable homes for actual decorating, instead of storage space.

Another facet of this pain point is the current limitation on Special and Collectible furnishings. Why? You give ESO+ members all these beautiful statuettes. Dungeon and Trial bosses give us fantastic trophy heads. Mounts, Pets, Houseguests...we've got tons of them. But we can't display them all in one place! Increase the limits to match the Traditional furnishings limit of the particular home.

    2. Character Creation Layers & Appearance Editing/Tokens

I currently have 19/20 Characters on my account. They all develop over the course of play, and sometimes, this evolution requires small adjustments to their overall look. While the Appearance window offers options, there's inconsistency and chaos there. Biggest example: Eyes. Why are they scattered across multiple categories? Why does my character lose their facial hair if he goes blind? 'Eyes' should be its own Category in the Appearance window, and its own layer on the character model...anything that changes the eyes of the character should not affect any other layer. This should apply at Character Creation as well.

Additionally, a Stylist/Barber NPC would be a welcome and useful addition. Right now, the only option we have for (semi)permanent changes to our look is the Appearance Token. When a person wants to change their hair color, they get a dye job. When they want to change their eye color, they get colored contacts. Skin tone? Tanning salon. None of these options require going to a Plastic Surgeon to accomplish. That's what the Appearance Token is...a Plastic Surgeon. Give us an in-game gold option to change hair, eye, and skin color. Save the Appearance Token for the more major changes like bulking up, height changes, and stuff like that.
Those are my two biggest pain points. I hope I explained them in a rational and logical manner, and I hope I provided rational, logical solutions, as ignorant of coding as I am. There will probably be other pain points as I think of them, but I think that's enough for now.

Thank you for this thread, paying attention to this thread, and taking steps to improve the QoL across the game. It is noticed, and it is appreciated.

Difficulty Curve and lack of information

What other games do well is give players a rating of a dungeon's difficulty before they queue up.

I think with all the dungeons that ESO has, it's time to show a difficulty rating for each. For example, base game vets can be 1-star difficulty, and something like Lep Seclusa and Black Gem Foundry are rated as 5 stars. Some in-between dungeons like Fang Lair can be 3 star, The Cauldron as 2 star, Bloodroot Forge as 2 star, etc.

Now that dungeons are sorted by alphabet instead of chronological order, it's hard for players to know which dungeons they're ready for, or to chart their own recommended path. Consider how ski-slopes rate the difficulty of their trails.

Some players have already given their opinion, and there may be a difference between HM and non-hardmode, but it shouldn't be hard to send a survey and get players to rate dungeon difficulty on a 1-5 scale. Maybe the internal teams can get statistics on overall completion, CP levels, and fail/quit rates for dungeons and determine difficulty from those.
