As a main DK, I barely even play my other characters outside of writs. But why the heck do you think we paid (at the time) 200k+ for weapon styles? I don't know about anyone else, I see many people with likely the same idea who use two different styles so they can quickly see what bar they are on. This is pretty much a high priority skill for DK and this change completely ruins the looks, it's so ugly, and the more importantly, the ability for why we have certain styles. I didn't have a lot of time for pts, I knew this change was coming, I saw people didn't like. BUT YOU STILL WENT THROUGH WITH IT?!

I don't even care about the other questionable decisions here, (spikes... :s ) but this NEEDS to be reverted or changed. Please!

Another question, how do I get a refund on eso+? I really regret buying an entire year at this point. I finally can get the house I've been waiting a year for, but I don't even care about that or any positive changes right now. This leaves such a sour taste right now. I literally took the day off for this update for who knows why and I shut the game off.

    Fashion is the real endgame (other than housing, which is the hardcore endgame). Visual replacers are always going to be contentious.

    Your character drags the tip of their weapon through the ground and an explosion happens on contact.

    That’s with a Staff, it’s a little different with every weapon, but there’s a video up already where you can watch all the animations.

    As far as I’m concerned, they’ve ruined my main character (dragon knight). I’m so furious I’m not sure I’ll play this game for much longer. At this point, ZOS won’t get any more money from me. This is just awful. We should have been given the option to keep old animations if we wanted.

    I’m sure it will be changed to give off a glow or have a dripping lava effect instead of an override.

    @ZOS_Erin was really good about getting our skill animation feedback, this one just didn’t get enough attention on the PTS.

    The old Molten effect may have respected the weapon style but the shader that it applied was absolutely atrocious (IMO, because this entire thread is firmly within the realm of opinion rather than fact).

    Sorry, but this opinion makes no sense. So you didn't like the minor shader it added, but you like it completely removing whatever style you chose altogether AND adding a more extreme version of the shader you hated?

    To be fair, the shader was pretty bad. I don’t think it’s a great excuse for why this is now better though.

    It's an opinion it doesn't have to make sense.

    My aesthetic preference is not for the awful old shader. The new look of the weapons is a vast improvement. IMO.

    Exactly same camp as me. I think they look very cool and I’m glad that it only affects the caster now. But I understand the double staff “I don’t know what bar I’m on” situation and wanting to see your motif of choice (especially with there being SO MANY crown store lava themed weapon packs).

    Adding yet another voice to "Please for the love of god get rid of the weapon override." The effects and animation are perfectly fine. I admittedly wish the ability had a more *subtle* effect than the old one... but I can accept it if it didn't take away the motifs I either worked hard to unlock or paid a lot of gold to get ahold of in favor of the exact same model as every other DK... which is also rather overdone and extreme, thought admittedly kind of cool-looking. Does it look neat? Sure. Does that mean I want it, though? Absolutely not. I can see why some people might like it, but there are multiple magma-themed styles they can use. Or... give us a toggle for certain ability effects? I'll settle for just having my weapons back on my DK's. Otherwise, the DK ability overhaul does look cool by and large.

    You’d need to file a ticket with Support. Any time they need to look at your account specifically, they need a ticket filed from within your account (on the website or in game) so they know you’ve been authenticated.

    Yeah I hate the fact it overrides weapon visuals too. I'm kind of shocked the devs even designed it to work like this in the first place. I hope to god none of the other class reworks get a similar thing.

    My sorcerer main uses the kargaeda motif and it's because it's very specifically perfect for her visually. I regularly appreciate how it looks on her outfit.

    Left is my weapon style and the right is molten weapons. I rather just have my own weapon style with light VFX from the skill itself than changing the entire weapon personally.

    Huh...I have no horse in this race but it seems like it would have been more work to program in a whole new appearance than to just overlay an effect over a person's current weapon.

    The entire weapon is replaced with a bulky lava weapon of a set style.
    Hoping for more playable races

    It is for the ability duration, but bear in mind this is an ability for which you would, theoretically, have 100% uptime for in combat if you choose to use it. It's your main class damage buff. Which means in combat you basically don't have your own weapons anymore.

    I like the animation and the visual, I just wish the weapon style wasn't completely replaced/that you could see your actual staff look underneath the visual effects

    They could just make these an arms pack, and give us our weapons back, everyone wins.

    People who like the styles can keep them all of the time, while those of us who don’t can keep our original weapons that we farmed for and dyed to match our character.

    Same, the sword and board override style is hideous, as is the staff. I wouldn't mind a glow or flame/lava aura, but I choose the weapons styles and colours I have on my characters for a reason.
    It makes me not want to use this skill until the visuals are changed.

    Yeah, I quite like the way Inspired Scholarship does it, even if it borders on too bright sometimes. It's much nicer if you can see your weapon under it.

    I think they should use the skill style system to give people the option between the new model, or a more minimal particle effect around their weapon.

    Until recently that's not been an option, but now it is! It's intuitive and people already know how to use it.

    Sure, it might be unreasonable to ask for every skill to have different variations, but I think in this case it's worth it.

    *Cough, cough Templar Jabs, many asked nay begged for a way to use the old animation, silence was the reply! As soon as class reworks were mentioned, knowing what a stink there was about jabs, I had a very bad feeling :|

    I wish they had just modified the flame effect rather that replace the whole model. I really dislike some of the weapon models with the molten armaments.

    Unsurprisingly, it turns out that an ability visual effect that completely replaces your weapon model, with something entirely different, wouldn't be well received.
