Waiting to see what happens, not hopeful.

After months of devaluing daily logins, many players have likely been conditioned to see them as pointless. For years, though, they were something I genuinely looked forward to… especially the daily and weekly endeavors.
Now it feels as though we are being asked to jump through more hoops to earn the same rewards.
Most of the time I come to the forum to complain (in hopes of things getting better) but today I need to share my appreciation for something that actually got better.
Yesterday I logged in, stood in my home just feeling lost for a minute and logged out again, which was a very weird experience after 6 years of doing dailies. It will probably keep feeling weird for quite a while, until we are all used to the new system, but seeing the pursuit today made me very happy. Spreading what was tied to specific days and weeks across the entire month gives us so much Quality of Life of back, and I mean our real lifes. I know its just a transition solution for this month but I hope what comes after will be as good or even better. The thought of not having to take my laptop to every trip anymore, just to satisfy my stupid fomo, takes quite the weight off my shoulder. Nearly 3kg of weight to be precise.
And since I scrolled past some hoarder flex:
I deleted a lot of stacks a while ago but my poor mules still sit on
13724 Lethal Poison
3k other Poison
12466 Tri-Pots
3,1k other Pots
833 Meals
482 Drinks
156 riding lessons
630 repair kits
387 research scrolls
and 530 exp scrolls
all from daily rewards :,)

When the daily rewards first came out, I was one of the people who gave feedback that it felt too much like we were being enticed to log in every day and look in the Crown Store (thus making the concept feel slightly predatory and aimed at selling more limited time offerings in the Crown Store), and therefore it did not feel like a reward for playing the game so much as a reward for changing your habits. I think it would have been nice if players who missed a few days could claim the rewards for all days in between (until the month turned over), and I also would have liked to see rewards that were not useful to the player be able to be broken down into a Crown Gem or endeavor.
That said, I saw ZOS listen to the feedback about how punishing it was to players who can't play every day, and they migrated the "big" or "unique" rewards to much earlier in the month, and since then, because of this, I began to enjoy them. I did not feel overlooked as a player anymore as I was always able to grab the more special rewards just with my weekend login schedule. It will be interesting to me to see if Tamriel Tomes will be an improvement or a step backward.
I also have always enjoyed the endeavor system, as it was building up a currency, not snagging a specific reward, so again it will be interesting to see if the new system feels like we are getting rewarded more frequently for "things we do regularly" or if the endeavors become less accessible. IIRC I thought I heard a reference in one of the streams that ZOS received feedback that the daily endeavors felt like pressure, so they are turning it more into things you can take your time doing... but I always looked at it differently. If I didn't like the choices for daily endeavors, I could wait until the next day and they'd be sure to be different!

Why is it that game developers must do their best to ruin some good elements of a game. Liked the Daily rewards and the ability to get some items that weren't always available in game. Oh well there are other games out there.

My guess is that the higher-ups at ZOS are using the complaints from a minority of neurotic whingers to justify new systems that will encourage people to spend real money to acquire stuff we were getting for free in the past.

Starting March 1st, Daily Login Rewards will no longer be available and officially retired from ESO. The UI will remain visible (but empty) until the launch of Update 49 on March 9. This also means the Daily Login Reward web articles will be sunset as well.
Additionally, Weekly and Daily Endeavors will retire on March 2. Seals of Endeavor will remain a currency in-game and will be earnable through the Tamriel Tome starting on April 2. In the meantime, we’ll be offering a Golden Pursuit, starting on March 3, that allows you to continue earning Seals of Endeavor until the start of Season Zero on April 2.
The March Golden Pursuit is meant to ensure you don't miss out on Seals of Endeavor during this transition period between Weekly and Daily Endeavors sunsetting and the start of Season Zero. This Golden Pursuit is designed to deliver the same amount of Seals of Endeavor you would have received when completing Weekly and Daily Endeavors.
Thanks for your understanding, and we’ll share more details as we get closer to these updates.
Where can I find a detailed statement that explains why Daily Login Rewards and Daily Endeavors are being retired? The first I heard about it was when I logged in today.
@Martiandawn
There was a stream on Twitch explaining all of this. In short, instead of Daily Login reward and Endeavors we will have Tamriel Tomes. The Endeavor Seals are not going anywhere. They will be renamed to just Seals. You will be able to earn them through Tamriel Tomes.
There will be 3 tiers of tomes. The first one is free for everyone. The other two - paid content. They said that the rewards from tomes will be cosmetics only.

We're still getting free stuff. You'll just get more time to claim it. The current downtime is temporary.

I can see you are really upset about this change.
I wonder if you noticed that the golden pursuit has challenges that involves things that you normally do while playing the game and that you can collect endeavor points and some of those popular free stuff from completing them. Then spend the endeavor points on those items that you enjoyed getting from the calendar.
Also, when the new system goes live in April, there will be more changes with challenges of the same type. You'll get points that you can use to claim rewards of your own choosing rather then those that are on a calendar.
Please give it a trial. It is different, but there are rewards and you can take your own time in collecting them. In some events, when the system goes live, you can even reroll a challenge you do not like to get something more doable for your play style.

You are naive. As others have pointed out, these changes will force players to pay real money to take full advantage of the "free" stuff.

So, this change was intended to address "FOMO" complaints from neurotic people who lack self-control? Or is ZOS merely using those complaints to justify a new system that encourages players to pay real world money for stuff they used to get for free?

The Golden Pursuits are weighted toward things that I do NOT normally do while playing the game, as I do not do much PVP or group activity. As for the new system, it will require players to spend real world money to take full advantage of the "free" stuff. My overall impression with these changes is that ZOS is using complaints voiced by neurotic people who lack self-control to justify a new system that they hope will encourage players to spend more money.
5 uses of "neurotic," twice paired with "whingers" on this page of comments. If you would like people to listen to your arguments, maybe lighten up a bit on that?Martiandawn wrote: »My guess is that the higher-ups at ZOS are using the complaints from a minority of neurotic whingers to justify new systems that will encourage people to spend real money to acquire stuff we were getting for free in the past.
