I enjoy hearing about the guilds out there. Some of the ads are very creative and funny.

It makes this game feel more alive. I'd be concerned if there weren't people recruiting for their guilds.

Yes but not a whole lot, it’s more if someone drops their long spiel right after another guild posts or in the middle of a conversation. I feel like there’s etiquette, yknow? But I understand that they’re probably teleporting around zones quickly and that it’s a necessary evil right now because guild finder is so bad.

I am only bothered by them if they aren't entertaining, or if the Guild have used the same awful pun for the past five years. Some Guilds have worked very hard to make their ads laugh-out-loud funny.

I mean I'm not *personally* looking to join a guild and the ads aren't really of interest to me, but it's a public chat open to everyone and I wouldn't expect everything in such a chat to cater to me personally. There are players who are looking to join a guild and the ads are likely of interest to those players.

There's a lot of other stuff in zone chat that's not interesting to me, but it's not *my* chat.

I just turn off zone chat if I'm focused on something else and don't want to see it, or if it's getting annoying.

    Mildly, yes.

I find most guild chat, recruitment or otherwise, to be intrusive. It’s hard to follow conversations when you’re not able to see anything other than guilds asking for more members, and then asking for raffles 24/7. It’s just too much after a while. I wish there was a recruitment only channel and the ability to leave chat channels on consoles.

No, not at all. When it comes to guild recruitment, the only thing that bothers me is unsolicited guild invites.

As long as they aren't spamming the zone chat with the guild invites, seeing one every so often isn't bad.

What bothers me more are the guild(s) that have a player standing by wayshrines and will autoinvite anyone that goes through. Having THAT popup is much more intrusive, to me, than seeing a guild advertisement or two in chat.

Guilds ask for raffles in zone chat? That's something I've never seen.

There are countless other things posted to zone chat that bother more. Guild advertisements wouldn't even crack the top 10 for me. They serve a purpose, easy to ignore, and don't interfere with my game in any recognizable amount.

They serve a purpose and lead to recruitment. I just joined a guild because of a zone chat ad recently, and I'm quite happy with that.

There shouldn't be a separate channel for guild ads—there's already Guild Finder for opt-in guild information. Zone chat is a nice occasional, spontaneous way to see which guilds are active, and it's not too frequent in the zones I'm in. Sometimes they could be shorter, like 3 lines should be enough.

If it's only one drop, whatever. It's a general chat tab, so it's totally allowed.

If someone is posting the same copypasta'd message three times in the same chat within 2 minutes, that's a different story.

    Sort of.

The long ones where I can't read the entire message are annoying especially if they repeat every little bit.

They use to be a lot worse as in longer, you would have one guilds paragraph long pitch followed by another half dozen in the same zone chat, preventing anyone else from getting a word in, that was before you could link the guild info directly to chat, since then I haven't found it as annoying.

I can understand guilds push to get new members, a lot of guilds have become buried in the guild finder, the trade guild I am in use to always nearly be at 500 members now it has been sitting at around 350 members for over a year and that is in a guild that consistently gets a trader every week.

As long as its not spammed in zone chat, then no it doesn't bother me. Guild Finder is full of inactive guilds, so if you're looking for one that is active seeing the ones in zone chat is helpful.

I don't use zone chat most of the time, so it is irrelevant to me. I did dislike blind invitations with no effort to lure me in or even interacting via group in the past.

It's an MMORPG. If people are bothered about communities trying to recruit new players, perhaps they shouldn't be playing an MMO. Just my two cents.

No, I'm not bothered by guild ads in zone chat, although I do think there ought to be a limit on how long they can be-- so they won't interfere with scrolling the zone chat window to see other messages-- and there should be some kind of guideline about how frequently the same ad can be reposted in the same zone before it's considered to be spamming zone chat.

The vast majority of the time they're fine. The only time they bother me is when they happen in the middle of a conversation, especially if several guilds do it around the same time.

I found 2 really nice guilds through zone chat adverts and even though I'm not curently looking for a guild I don't mind seeing others.

    No correct option for me.

Occasional guild ad every now and then, no I am not bothered. It's a good way to advertise.

Someone spamming the ad every 2 minutes, yeah give it a rest already. We get it, you are looking for more people.

So, depending on the frequency: yes or no.

Regardless, guilds that want to survive will certainly find the easiest way to be seen. Even if we block Zone chat today, they will find other ways. Moreover, as others have said, it's a good thing that many guilds are recruiting; if they weren't, we should be worried about whether the game can continue to exist.

I really wanted to vote "It depends", but that was not an option.

Some guilds on XB-NA are pretty good about keeping their chat ads short and sweet.

Others stuff so much text in that it's more than the HUD version of the chat window can display. That not only means you can't read the whole thing without popping the menu and pulling up the full chat window. It also badly interrupts other conversations that might be going on at the same time. They could just type "[Name of Guild]Check us out in Guild Finder"

I'd rather see guild advertisements in zone chat than the billionth new account of "I buy low, sell high" mat flippers spamming in every zone with their "COD me for instant payment" ads or political/racist/otherwise obnoxious zone chat trolling.

Not sure about other platforms, but PSNA gets a lot of "public auctions" held at out of the way wayshrines by several alliances of trader guilds. Part of their advertisement to "come to X wayshrine for public auction" is enticing folks about a public 50/50 raffle being held alongside said auction.
