Companion Gifts Rapport Value?

I don't think so. All my companions except for one are at maximum or almost maximum disposition, but still, I've only received letters for purple gifts, when I've done testing yesterday (now I just sell blue gifts after they did nothing yesterday; only using some new purple ones now if I'm interested in the letters).

Not completely wasted ... there is an achievement tied to using 5 gifts.
Use the blue ones and sell the purple ones.

They aren't gaurenteed, I haven't got any, blue or purple, from a gold box on Playstation or PC for at least the last 2 day

I've never had a letter and used them on a character with full rapport, one at allied and others I'm just starting

Do the colors of these companion gifts have any relevance? I got a red box for Mirri today. I've also gotten boxes for Bastion, Isobel and Azander. They were all different colors. So aren't the colors companion specific rather than value specific? I got an appreciation letter for every one of the gifts I opened. So aren't they all the same?

They add different levels of rapport.

Just like in real life!

Purple/blue - is about quality color. Color of item name, not color on icon.

Icon color depends on companion.

Icon color depends on companion.

They seem to match the color scheme for the companions' classes (with a little bit of fudging for Tanlorin's soul magic).

In case anyone stumbled upon this thread wondering what the heck these gifts were, here is a screenshot of what they look like in the menu and where I found them. I also went and put a box around the mention of which companion they are for. I have no idea how to use them yet, just wanted to post this info... Hope this helps

Gave a purple gift to Azander, got a letter.

Gave a purple gift to Miri, got a letter.

Gave a purple gift to Bastian, did not get a letter.

Weird inconsistency, but can't say it bothers me.

Summon your companion, go into your inventory, find the item, and use it.
