Why season 0...

and not Season 1 - thats just gonna be weird and confusing in the future when season 1 is actually the 2nd one and season 2 is actually the 3rd one etc...

I personally don't mind zero-based numbering. You can think of Season Zero like the base season, and anything that comes after (like Season One) is the Nth iteration of the season format.

Season Zero is technically not like the others - it lasts for two patch cycles and has a few different things than other Seasons will. In all technicality, Season Zero is kind of our 'preview' season, similar to how Wrothgar is widely considered Chapter Zero as it wasn't technically a Chapter but did have a lot of the features.

I'm sure a lot of that was also that the original Transition Year was... not well received.

how do we know all future seasons will always be the same? the whole reason for seasons was to shake things up so there might be longer or shorter seasons in the future with different content....

I didn't like the idea either, and it's especially confusing since they already had a season for their last chapter, which I guess was them just being unwilling to admit it was still a chapter system. Unless we want to call the worm cult season negative one...

My guess is that since season 0 has a focus on adjustments with less content, they chose to call it zero so that it serves as a transition period. Then, when more zone and story content begins, we can refer to that more aptly as "season 1" because it will be the first "real" seasons begining.

Hmm not sure of i like that...they shouldnt limit themselves...seasons should be whatever length makes sense for the content and shake things up...

Just replacing a always the same chapter model with an always the same season model kinda defeats the purpose no?
