There is no way that they give you Lorerbeareres as companion.

Vanus sitting in your house while he is captured by the daedra/worms. See what i mean ?

He's still writing messages to the Mages Guild concerning the Scholarium - and standing in the Davon's Watch guildhall to inform you about strange things concerning Summerset.

And Gabrielle is still sending messages for the Antiquarian Circle.

Too many followers already, WAY, WAY too many. pets, companions, quest givers....sometimes I wonder if the game isn't broken when I see someone roll by with three sorc pets, a regular pet and a companion and banker all at the same time.

That would be a bug since the banker automatically despawns the companion. Also there are only 2 sorc pets.

There are a few people I know who would like Eveli as a companion. She could make a nice houseguest. We have Stibbons as a houseguest, and if you have played with him a lot, he will talk about the adventures you had together. It's really fun.

Eveli is in a lot of quests, so she could talk about your common adventures too.
    Favourite NPC: Wine-For-All
Mostly PC-EU , with a lonely little guy on NA.

From the story perspective, wouldn't they all have more important things to do than follow a player all the time ?

We also have more important things to do, but that doesn't stop them from annoying us with their quests, even though they have immortal guards in every city. I'd want one to follow me around, just so that I can get into fights and have it die repeatedly. I'm looking at you, Razum-dar!

I dunno, I like Naryu and Raz very much, Eveli too, but I think that I love them because I'm happy to see them play relevant roles in good written stories.

Maybe turning them into companions would lower their significance and value as narrative characters. Isobel Veloise, whom I really enjoy, was written to be along the player all the time, to have a less part in the narrative. The NPCs you're talking about weren't. They were written to be very important and their appearances to be special events. I don't want to see Eveli, Raz and Naryu everywhere I go just because suddenly every other player who loves them has picked them as active companions.

Also, Raz and Naryu are excessively good at what they do, sometimes they even seem OP like nothing can get them. I don't imagine they would do great as companions who can be hurt and killed.

I'd like to see some quest npcs becoming companions, but I generally feel that the "fan favorites" are overused. They seem to increasingly rely on throwing those into stories, whether it actually makes sense for the story or not, possibly believing that the players will find it awesome then no matter what. I'd rather see more care going into the quests themselves - interesting creative storylines, no plot holes or lore mistakes, believable character development, characters that feel like actual people instead of one-note clichés.

I've started to loathe all returning characters almost with a passion, because not only are they becoming caricatures with less and less traits of who they once were as a characters with each return, but also they make Tamriel feel so tiny when they appear all over on the regular and we bump into them. Tamriel is a massive continent filled with millions of people, so why do I keep seeing the same 10 faces all the time, no matter where I am on Tamriel or even beyond.

Of course Tamriel feeling tiny doesn't stop at just the characters, so many of the quests treat it as it's tiny too and you can just row in a tiny boat miles upon miles to different provinces. All in a day's work!
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

This is how companions should have been done. Riggurt, Skordo, Stibbons, Raz, heemjas, Evili Sharp-Arrow, all should have been possible combat companions.

100+ Razum Dars in the Elden Root would definitely break any immersion.

Tamriel is a massive continent filled with millions of people, so why do I keep seeing the same 10 faces all the time, no matter where I am on Tamriel or even beyond.

I never liked most "fan favorites". They are mostly more or less the same type: "Flirty" (of course always the same type of "flirty", too) and of course absolutely perfect in whatever they're doing. The greatest in their profession, sporty, "witty" (or at least they're supposed to be that - I often disagree), and of course everyone loves them and even other npcs find them totally awesome. They're basically weird flawless Mary Sue type characters, which is something that I personally find horribly boring, so it doesn't appeal to me. And that they become even more clichéd with every reappearance makes it even worse.

The only one I find interesting is Fennorian; I do wonder about his background story and think something interesting could be made of that - at the same time I fear we will get some background lore some day, and it might be horribly clichéd as well.

Same goes for a few other characters that I like, who are not the big "fan favorites", but have made at least one return in game, in particular Revus Demnevanni and the Vanos siblings. Their returns were okay, amusing even. I liked the time-travel quest in Nchuthnkarst in Greymoor, I also liked the quest about Revus testing his invention in that Ayleid ruin in Blackwood. But who knows how they'll be written the next time we'll see them?

They would, if well-written, be characters I'd love to see as companions, by the way. They have reason to travel, to explore, to learn and do research. I could see them travelling with us. I'd enjoy well-written commentary by them, especially if they'd made it more location-specific, so they could tell us about specific Dwemer ruins, for example. In the end the main factor whether I'd enjoy it or not would really be the writing quality.

But yes, having those "fan favorites" show up everywhere makes the continent feel extremely small. Especially if these characters have no real lore reason to travel that far and their reappearance feels arbitrary and like it was only written to have their faces show up again. I generally dislike situations where I get the feeling that the only reason for something appearing or happening is basically fanservice, not an interesting story or lore idea. It's already bad now, I'm not sure whether they showing up as companions would make it any worse.

Immersion breaking if i can see them follow other players. The same is true for the current companions i hope ZOS will eventually allow for helmets.

They should show to other players as some generic npc of the same race. Already happens with quest npcs.

Companions? No ...I think Houseguest would be a better idea but I would like to have Houseguest to come with their own questlines....that would be cool or to have people just show up at your house to go on adventures with.

A major reason it won't happen is that a lot of these characters are already with you in a lot of quests, so the duplicates would make a complete mess of things. When you're told to talk to X and there are two them, ...

They could have them auto-despawn? They already did that once, at the end of Blackwood. During that end of story party, Bastian and Mirri also show up as guests and if you have one of them as a companion, they will despawn in that situation.

Unfortunately, making them companions severely gimps the ability have them continue to appear in new story lines.

i would rather have my alt characters as occupants of my various homes...

I have wanted this forever! I like to imagine that each of my characters has a home. It would be great to be able to see them in there (when I'm not playing that character of course).

I was going to say "No way, that would be so immersion breaking!". But then I remembered you can fight Molag Bal, whilst looking like Molag Bal, with a Molag Bal pet by your side. You can start doing quests for Abnur Tharn before you meet Abnur Tharn and release him from Coldharbour. You can meet and quest for both Lyris and Sai Sahan before releasing them from Coldharbour and also after after sacrificing one of them. You will be called soulless before having your soul removed or knowing what it means, and also after having your soul restored. The list goes on...

In other words, when it comes to immersion, ESO jumped the shark years ago. So sure, why not. Bring it on. I for one can't wait for the Molag Bal companion; I'm sure he's got noting better to be doing with his time. And why not a Molag Bal mount whilst we are at it, so we can have the full set: polymorph, Pet, Companion and Mount!
