Would you like Zerith Var's favour to not be hidden behind winning a ToT match?

Yes I would like to not have to win a match to gain Zerith Var's favour, just play 1 novice match but not have to win.

I've maxxed out his favour without playing ToT at all, so not sure this is even an issue?

You may have maxed out his Rapport. But you can't get the Zerith-Var's Favor Achievement without playing ToT. Which in turn is required for The Twilight Path achievement. Both of which are required to get Zerith-Var's companion trinket which grants you his perk.

Didn't know that, thanks. But from that page it says "Complete any Tales of Tribute Daily Quest with Zerith", meaning you could just play a match vs an NPC, in which case I definitely think it's perfectly fine as is. If it was forced to be a PvP match, I'd have more of an issue with it.

It says that but after I played several tot games not only with the novice nps but also with players in looking for group i still did not earn his favour. You have to win several games of tot to be able to pick up tot daily then do a tot daily to get his favour

Last I recall, the dailies unlock after you complete the intro quest. Taking all of 15 minutes.

The thing about ToT is it is very much a niche activity. I don't believe it should be a requirement for mainstream content.

Playing with a person is not completing the daily. It's a daily quest. You get it after doing the intro. The intro quest teaches you the basics of the game, and tells you what cards to play. It also takes you the NPC you need to talk to in order to do the daily so you know where to go since she's in a building. After that, you just need to win 1 game against an NPC while on her daily.

It is a quick and easy thing

I think it is fine the way it is, and I believe Tales of Tribute is the worst addition to the game in it's long history. Winning one daily isn't that difficult, and it is still the only ToT daily I have ever done.

I’m so disgusted with this requirement! I played about 4-5 ToT games in my lifetime and that’s with 7000 hours + of total ESO game time… I absolutely loathe ToT: a card game that a round takes 20+ minutes: literally wasting my time.
I just tried again to win a game against a Novice and have absolutely no clue about the rules, anymore. So, I clicked through and it STILL takes about 20 minutes. Of course, I lost but does it count for completing Zerith-Var’s favor? NO! Why? Where does it say, I have to WIN? I played the stupid game, got some worthless rewards for playing, why is the effing requirement not filled? How am I EVER going to finish this without being FORCED to learn a STUPID card game in a VIDEO GAME??? Really, who at ZOS thought it was a good idea to introduce a card game that takes more than 5 minutes per round??? Gwent from the Witcher games is easy and quickly played: it’s actually FUN but this mess? WTH!!!

The Zerith-Var's Favor achievement requires that you complete a ToT daily quest. You have to win at least once to complete either daily quest.

While I feel this requirement is not to my liking as it's something in game forcing me to do a task I would not like to do in my normal game play.

My solution: use Zerith-Var as my default companion, he's very congenial and a capable fighter. Thus one gets the hidden containers without the annoying card game.

idk what a zenith's var favor is but Tales of Tribute needs more things pointing to it and more reasons to do it so it doesn't die out. It's an amazing card game that more people need to give a shot.

I would have no problem with them changing the requirements for the achievement, although winning a single match against a novice NPC is a very low hurdle. But if players really find it impossible, perhaps Zerith could be appeased just by seeing you make the effort, win or lose.

Mostly I just wanted to chime in and say how much I love having a companion with the option to gain rapport from playing Tribute. I wish I could win over all the companions this way!

I finally got around to unlocking it, it wasn't that bad but did involve me having to learn to play this stupidly RNG card game, so yeah I'd prefer it be something else.

This doesn't matter *that* much to me since ai have it already but:

    +it is a low bar
+I like and support how ZOS has content pointing to other types of content as a feeder
+The game is so large that I think people need to accept that they can't always win every reward if they aren't willing to try other things. I, for example, have made my peace with never obtaining the dye associated with becoming emperor in Cyrodiil.

-I do remember being overwhelmed by and annoyed with ToT when I was first learning it, as it also was just a means to an end, to me. But I had more trouble figuring out how to unlock it and get out of the tutorial than I did being able to win a single game.

Overall, the verdict is... I support the way it is, although "like" may be too strong of a word. Mostly I just think it shouldn't be changed because the logic t potentially change it is flawed and not aligned with how ESO generally works.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Oh, gross, you have to WIN? I haven't unlocked Zerith-var yet because I'm leveling older Companions, so I wasn't aware of this requirement...and I do want his favor perk. I forced myself to play ToT at least one match a day for 30 straight days in 2024 to give it a fair chance. Win or lose, all it did was confirm that I hate card games. Without trying, I think I've unlocked some other decks through normal gameplay since then. I guess I'll try them against the Novices for Zerith-var, but the chances of this changing my general negative opinion of ToT are pretty much 0%. Most likely it'll push my opinion even lower. :D
