I still just want to know why someone would want to hide pants! Not out of judgement but out of curiosity as to what the thought process would be behind such a look. Making a minidress out of a longer top?

Pretty much, yeah. I've seen players style longer tops or tops with loin cloths into something skimpier by taking off armor pants. Actually, some achieve a really nice look this way, and they aren't trolling or anything, just minding their business wearing the style. Usually its a feminine character btw.

Time flies like an arrow- but fruit flies like a banana.

Sorry for my English, I do not always have a translation tool available. Thank you for your patience with our conversation and working towards our mutual understanding of the topic.

Removing it as an option for everyone because of what some might do with it is like preemptive collective punishment. That just sounds bad to me.

Maybe they are just going for a certain look. Like oldschool wonderman or something like that. Just my first idea of why someone might, I am sure others have better ideas.

I would like to suggest a solution to this problem that still allows for hide legs to be implemented.

It is a solution that other games also have.

When you "block" a player through the report feature, have it so that it not only silences the player, but also makes their entire character disappear so that you cannot see anything they are doing. Additionally, when you block them, they will not be able to see you or interact with you at all.

While this might not work in PVP zones, there is no down side in PVE zones where seeing other players is not necessary.

That, or make a toggle where you cannot see others disable their clothing.

Oh my gosh, if they implement that I'd be blocking everyone just so that the towns finally feel like they're actually part of the elder scrolls world, haha.

Please don't let players hide pants. I don't want to group with naked players for World Bosses, or Incursions, or Dungeons or Trials, etc.. It looks too unrealistic and is very immersion breaking.

I think this is the more valid consideration.
I wonder what ZOS "what if" thoughts were when deciding to allow pantless play.

Okay, I did some poking around at the outfit station and I see it now. Not all motifs look very good but some really do.

...because so many people are doing World Bosses now in the Nordic Bather towel?

Or are we thinking that 70% of the people who make their characters have full outfits are suddenly going to be like "omg I can take off my clothes now!"

(note that this will absolutely happen the first week of release though, just like the first week of everything everyone wants to play with the new shiny. And then when people get tired of it, they'll go back to their usual outfit, save the ones who actually want to have their belt buckle hidden because none of them fit with the chest style.)

Who is wonderman and why isn't he wearing any pants? Do I want to know?

But seriously... Does the "hide random armor pieces" option also apply to companion outfits?

Yes because people in bath towels or the costume with the huge feathered butt is so realistic.

No it hasn't. I don't like any of those things either but they don't have the potential to harass other players like no pants does. This really needs to be reconsidered.

umm.. these are pixels on a screen, not IRL scenerios. I go naked dungeon running all the time. Only equipping what is picked up during the run and skills that don't require weapons.

Use the report tools for harassing behavior. That's what they are there for.

Here's Tarzan. In his underwear. In a Disney Movie. In battle.

Harassment of any kind, especially sexual harrasment is against the TOS, is reportable and bannable.
Anyone who wants to do inappropriate things while pantless has the ability to remove their pants in about 3 seconds.

While I understand and absolutely feel badly for anyone that would be upset by this type of behavior, I don't think that should result in a feature like this being blocked.

Also, as others have said, there are chest pieces out there that cover the...umm...underwear area and look really nice, so there are uses for this beyond "I just wanna run around in underwear".

Lastly, there *is* underwear. Our characters (as far as we know) are not anatomically correct. Nobody's getting naked.

If someone wanted to harass you not wearing any clothes they can already do so now, by taking off their armor.

We shouldn't be limited in our options just because a small number of people may be annoying. That's what reporting and the TOS is for.

Yeah I agree, don’t punish the rest of us because of the freaks out there.

Cadwell is literally walking around with a pot on his head and fights with a spoon. The Shivering Isles is a whole dimension where people do the most random things, including not wearing certain articles of clothing.

I was surprised they are allowing players to hide pants. I can understand chest pieces so players can show off their markings and tattoos, but pants is just making it easier for immature players to harass others.

I'm surprised people are taking this so seriously. I mean we already have Nordic bathing towels. It is a multiplayer game, and an adult themed one at that. Stop being so sensitive, if someone is bothering you that much ask them to stop. If you really want to, record the interactions and forward it to ZoS where they can determine if there is an issue.

If someone has a grudge and was to go out of their way to bother me after 6 months or whatever I might seek ZoS' assistance, but for the most part I just ignore and move on. I do wish that ignore list actually prevented matchmaking and wasn't capped but at least with addons you can make a note and avoid the person in the future even with name changes.

Once I made a roleplay build, unarmed and without leg gear - the idea was that the character got drunk at a tavern and someone stole from it the weapon and pants. Now the character was angry and in search of revenge, running around shouting "who stole my pants?!" Throwing fists at the sky.

Not everyone hiding pants would automatically be an harasser, imo. Just like if someone tbags on you in PvP ONE time is not harassment, and shouldn't result in removing or limiting the ability to crouch.

There already is a way to report inappropriate behavior - use that if it's the case. No place will ever be a perfect utopia... #PantsFree

If you don't want to break immersion because of people removing their pants, then maybe you should actively ask ZOS to remove 95% of mounts/pets/emots/etc. added to the game these last 10 years.

It makes me wonder how they survived the game itself by this point, you'd think lore on Lamae or Molag would have triggered them away before they even got to care about pants.
