not condoning at all. i don't think they should be doing it. i just don't think that anything will change if they are currently doing it by just removing pants all together. i find it disturbing also, which is why i started playing male characters 25+ years ago and have not gone back. when someone does something like that to me on a female toon, i find it very disturbing. for whatever reason, if i'm on a guy, not so much. sometimes i even find it funny.
Doesn’t help that I find the default underwear immersion-breaking. It looks too modern.

If people are concerned about the current underwear, I'm not sure whether this was better...

personally, i am happy we will get to hide all Outfit pieces.
i understand the post, but i think fashion should not be restricted for everyone just because some people are disrespectful.
, I genuinely don’t know why anyone would need to be able to hide their chest

Wouldn't that lead to problems with the underwear showing beneath some costumes (barbarian or gladiator style, for example)?

it shouldn't? gear/costume should override boxers. if you have something that would currently show fragments of the current underwear, does it show them now?

But if you do, please, please, change the default underwear to something less tight and revealing. Even something like the default underwear on male khajiit would be enough.
For example, I was in the IC sewer base on a female character, in a non-revealing, non-sexy outfit. Another character came and stood right on top of me. I moved away, and asked them if they were wanting to group. No answer, and they came and stood on top of me again. I moved away to a place you would NOT randomly moved to, and again they came and stood on top of me. That's when I realized they didn't have any legs equipped.
I don't know why this triggers the same thrill that exposure does, but it sure seems to. Please. Don't allow this.
Yes, I reported the player.

Yes it does.

We shouldn't be limited in our options just because a small number of people may be annoying. That's what reporting and the TOS is for.
There's a massive difference in scale when it doesn't cost power. At least in my past experience. Again, I can't speak to others experience.

I think (from what I remember, it's been a while that I used the character creation screen) it's not even "actual" clothing but part of the skin texture? So they can't just remove it.

Because shirtless male barbarians is a popular fantasy look? We have shirtless NPCS but we can't be shirtless ourselves in battle.
It'd be nice over a lot of people wearing Sai Sahan's jack with huge hip plates for a close look.
Edit: I'm going to go a step further and say I see no issue with women having the option either. If someone wants to imagine themselves a topless Amazon while we all see the black top, all the more power to them too.

It is a solution that other games also have.
When you "block" a player through the report feature, have it so that it not only silences the player, but also makes their entire character disappear so that you cannot see anything they are doing. Additionally, when you block them, they will not be able to see you or interact with you at all.
While this might not work in PVP zones, there is no down side in PVE zones where seeing other players is not necessary.
That, or make a toggle where you cannot see others disable their clothing.

Honestly they could use a performance mode for a lot reasons. Default outfits and other cosmetics based on race or class. No flashy effects.
It would help people improve their own performance in PvP and trials most likely (does in a lot of games anyway). Would be accessibility friendly for people who get migraines and the like from the big flashy effects or just plain don't like them and find it immersion breaking. It would help with this. They could leave your character the same.
There's just so many issues a performance mode would solve.
