This no option to display nameplates while not a huge deal is still probably one of the dumbest ideas ive seen devs implement in an mmo. Unless it was causing the game to crash or massive server lag for everyone I cant imagine a good argument for this bad idea.
Yeah actually the side that wants to be able to turn on nameplates have quite a few good arguments, the side that doesn't want people to have that option has zero.

There's NO server load, what the hell are you on about?leandro.800ub17_ESO wrote: »

Your point is?Sadly the 'immersionists' whined nameplates broke their 'immersion' so ZOS decided not to even offer the OPTION.
Of course those same immersionists are now among those screaming about bots .. with the huge irony that the lack of nameplates makes reporting them a LOT more tedious so many players don't bother.
Lack of nameplates is not the biggest problem when it comes to bots. I´m sure you are aware of that.

It is all a matter of opinion. One side thinks their opinion is superior and at the same time the other side thinks their opinion is superior. Of you would always think your side's opinion is superior and the other side's is inferior. I am not actually taking sides here. I am calling for a compromise. What is wrong with the compromise proposed? How would letting someone opt out of having a name plate on your screen effect you in any way? How does letting you have the name plates of those that want theirs shown effect them?
Both sides can not argue that the compromise shown would effect each other in any really way. Those against it can hide their name plate and those of other players, and those for it can have name plates. In fact for the people who want name plates it would help you find people like minded easier, because you will be able to see their name plate.

When you can show me someone with a reason for not allowing other players to turn on name plates that is actually real youll be right. But right now youre not.
The only reason ive seen given is "it breaks immersion" That's not an opinion, thats a lie. If you aren't forced to turn on nameplates the game does not change for you so there is no way it can break your immersion.
On the other hand, when I say I want name plates so I can tell which one of my dps is standing in the red circles without having to mouse over them or I want to be able to tell which person in that crowd of 50 people is the merchant without having to mouse over and check everyone there, those are actual reasons, yeah I guess a person could argue against it but atleast its an actual issue that effects me and not a made up one that doesn't actually exist.
And this stupid opting out idea, im not really against it but why? give me one reason why anyone would want to hide their name plate from other people. You nannies care way too much about what other people are doing.

Of course it wouldn't, all characters on-screen are identified, how could they not be? Displaying nameplates is handled by the client PC, using information provided by the server, whether nameplates are displayed or not. Anyone who claims otherwise is just clutching at straws for reasons to deny, selfishly, other people the option of nameplate display.
Well, some people feels it does break immersion for them. Therefore both sides are an opinion. You opinion is not a fact, because what break immersion for you and what breaks it for some one else can be two totally different things.

If you are in a group and you want everyone to have name plates then tell them to turn them on if they don't have them on. If they refuse kick them. Why should you take away an option for some one else, because you are being lazy. As for finding the merchant/banker that is easy look for the one person that says "E" to interact with. Name plates would obscure the merchant/banker more, and this can be shown in almost any game with them.On the other hand, when I say I want name plates so I can tell which one of my dps is standing in the red circles without having to mouse over them or I want to be able to tell which person in that crowd of 50 people is the merchant without having to mouse over and check everyone there, those are actual reasons, yeah I guess a person could argue against it but atleast its an actual issue that effects me and not a made up one that doesn't actually exist.
Why is an idea to opt out stupid? Again you trying to pass an opinion off as fact. Maybe some one wants to turn off their name plate to Role Play with some friends or something. Maybe I want to go into Cyrodil and gank people without them being able to know who I am. I answered your question how about you give me a good reason why people shouldn't be allowed to opt out? Or we can just agree our opinions differ. And this stupid opting out idea, im not really against it but why? give me one reason why anyone would want to hide their name plate from other people.
