Public statements from EOS - BOTs and Gold sellers

j.frank.nicholsb14_ESO
My wife and I have just cancelled our subscriptions. We have 25 days left to play. Our action is in response to EOS not making any comments about the current declining game experience as a result of the BOTs and gold sellers.

I have never run an MMO, so I do not know all the in's and out's of what to do or say and how to handle the PR - but it does seem that ESO has an issue with not communicating with it's paid customer base. I hope my small "gesture" combined with others that I see also canceling their subscriptions will be heard and recognized for what it is - a plea to communicate what we can expect for our money.

I do not expect a solution to happen over night. I am not arrogant enough to suggest I know how to solve the problem. I do expect EOS to communicate.

I have every intention of resubscribing if EOS begins communicating and/or takes measures that improve the game play experience. If by the end of the 25 days of play time we have left EOS is not communicating and the issue has not been improved, I will not be resubscribing. And that is sad, we really like ESO, and hope to be long term customers - but as it stands, we do not feel we are getting anything for our money.

Let me be clear also, I do not care if there are bots in world - I care that the bots are impacting my ability to play the game. For example, I leveled a new character to 10 yesterday. Previously I was able to gather enough mat's (at low levels) to craft armor and weapons as I was questing. I am not a power leveler and don't care to rush - but instead of the previous 30 to 60 minutes to make a set of armor (gathering and crafting and inventory management) I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to gather enough ore for a single level 4 set of heavy armor. Frequently as I would arrive at a resource, it would "magically" disappear - obviously a bot was harvesting in the area. Frequently, as reported here, quest NPCs are dead as a result of the bot trains running wild in various (almost all) areas. So, questing is reduced to basically go to the end of the quest and click on the dead boss. Not fun at all.

It is no longer fun to play EOS. I expect many others are in the same situation as my wife and I - basically a holding pattern, marking time until we see some change, since the game is no longer fun to play for us.

Every time that I see a massive line of bots circling an area and grinding kills, my urge to play dies a little.

The no-clipping bots that fly around getting resources really ruins the gathering aspect of the game as well.

Here you find an ZOS post which includes some words about the bots.

Maybe I'm lucky but i didn't saw many bots/goldspammers the last days/weeks. I only got 2 spammails in one week or so and sometimes i saw a few bots, but not as much as all the forum users see.

@Frcyr, thanks for the link - I understand their comment about not being able to go into details - but, I would expect that some form of progress report would be helpful. Even, if nothing else some commiserating - expressing that they understand the pain we are feeling. I hope they find a way to communicate.

I think they understand our pain and know that we don't want bots ingame. I think they work against them, but as you said a better communication between ZOS and us would be nice.

I feel exactly the same, in fact after resubbing this month I've barely played at all.. I've been logging in, and after 5-10 minutes feeling depressed about it all and logging off again.. if it's not the bots it some other annoyance or bug, I've found myself having to make too many excuses and compromises to enjoy this game that it's starting to wear thin..

Concur, and when I demonstrated within the forum how sophisticated botters were hacking ESO, my posts were deleted after a charge of "advertising" - even though I'd been careful to remove any links and names of programs.

Its as though the developers want folks to remain willfully ignorant of what's going on, though that's clearly a broken course of action.

Good grief... Advertising? That forum moderator needs a reality check.

If it were my game, I wouldn't want vids showing how to exploit the game on my official forums either, seems pretty self-explanatory really. Regardless of how much or little detail there is, seems like Reddit would be the place for it if you absolutely have to get that info out there.
