Say from the hours of 3:00 in the morning to 12:00 noon, companions would be allowed in or the alliance with the lowest population would be allowed to bring their companions in LOL joking of course but hey you never know might help I would love to see a companion 1v1 LOL

I'm fairly certain healer/tank Companions would always outlast a damage dealer Companion, as Companion DPS is nowhere near as high as their healing and tanking capacity. I'd also like to see a Companion duel, though.

Companions can not even properly avoid red areas in overland. Good luck keeping them alive in Cyrodiil.

    No thank you.

They shouldn't even have companions in PvE. This is an MMO with tons of real people to group with. The only justification that makes any sense for companions even in PvE is that if the player population is declining so much that other players aren't populating the game.

I'm trying to imagine the scene of PvP-enabled companions (respectively NPC vs.NPC) competing against each other. While their users have gathered in a circle of chairs around the competing companions using the /sit or /chair emote. And from there, amid cheerful cheering, they bet on the outcome of the fight.
Better than a card game where you can't even be a spectator.
    Great idea. ;)
    ( o:) Or not?)

I would only use a companion in Cyrodiil to do my seige for me but that’s about it

We would be fighting at Bleakers while our companions dodged each other all the way to Aleswell.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I kinda just don't want to play with other people sometimes. I like seeing other players populate the world, but I'm not going to go out of my way to talk to them. Companions are perfect for enabling solo players to do things they wouldn't otherwise do, or for making it easier for solo players to remain solo.

As far as PvP goes, it would be interesting to see Companion skills balanced to the level of Vengeance skills (could you imagine Companion Vengeance skills?) so that it would genuinely be more of a challenge to fight an enemy player's Companion under the Vengeance ruleset. It could be an idea for a new gamemode somewhere down the line.

Would actually be fun to have my companion out in Cyrodiil, as there is plenty of PvE there and I always miss my companions when not summoned. Especially with new companions this would be very helpful. Ofcourse they would be quite useless in the PvP itself.

Whenever there is a new companion and I am in Cyrodiil doing town quests, I always feel like I am missing out on companion exp/gear.

Disagree heavily! Companions are a very popular feature in MMO's and other games.

Personally I play plenty of groupcontent, and I still love having my companions around. These two things have nothing to do with eachother. Gearing them, speccing them, outfitting them, combatting with them, running IA with them.... so many things I use my companions for/with.

Those were the good times... Especially after they were removed and became immortal if you still had them and spawned them.

RIP 20 Mage's spawned at Bleakers, Gone but not forgotten.

And as for the companions topic, very unlikely this would ever be done as they are similar to pets and trinkets which cause player movement issues (can't walk through them so they made it so that players could get trapped in by a horde of pets).
I strongly believe that guards should be buffed back to the good times of old when a single mage guard could solo a group of players if they weren't paying attention to the AOE's and the keep was fully upgraded.

ZOS have tried (ish) this before with terrible performance consequences. You used to be able to hire NPC mercenaries for various guard/support tasks.

You could hire NPC mercernaries to help guard/fight. The performance was not great.

No. The mercenary missions made the player the mercinary and was given quest to do one of five different tasks when they accepted the mission. The missions were go kill 5 goblins, or 5 of some other clan in Cyrodiil and the like.

There is a lingering fighters guild passive that granted the ability to accept these quests. Not sure why that passive is still in the game when the quests no longer exists.

These fighter guild quests still exist(kill 8-10), they can be started from the inns in the alliance home bases in Cyrodiil. And do require the fighter's guild passive to appear. (also grant coffers during PvP events)

Don't have any info on the old mercenary missions as I never played in Cyrodiil for serious amounts of time.
