Maybe some type of name verification is needed? Like no characters created using short random letter names.
Botters are well aware of how phasing works in ESO. I'd post more information, but mods would think I was advertising.

It is kinda scary, i think this should be the priority not adding new content. Maybe disabling API, or hire some GMs to monitor these places and ban these bot accounts. A simple math shows 40 bots in 2 mins, 1200 in 1 hour and total 28800 bots in a day. This number shows something must be done, immediately and permanent.
ZOS deafening silence on the topic says it all. They have not even truly acknowledged there is a problem. At least I have seen no official statement to the fact.
Yes, a few band-aid procedures have been halfheartedly applied. This uncanny silence however ( in me) awakens the suspicion that; either ZOS has no clue what to do, or that they are unwilling to have the game undergo massive surgery.
There is no daub that successfully getting rid of the Bots will mean the loss of potentially tens-of- thousands of accounts and consequently the loss of revenue.
Right now I tend to think (just my opinion and money talking) only if more revenue gets lost by players leaving the game because of the Bots then revenue is generated by keeping the bots, things will change.
Agreed. I've never seen one thread on this subject answered to by a GM. Not one. I just think they're okay with it, the gold sites pay for the accounts (w stolen credit cards) so ZOS still makes money.

They bandaid fixed the Coldharbour quest (allowed you to get gold with no effort in 2-3 minutes, without fighting).
The bots just moved on to other quests they can do the same thing with, and this is the result.
A REAL FIX is to limit character deletions to like 2 per day, with additional ones being behind an email access code, ala the you get when accessing from a new computer.
Real players don't constantly delete characters, so the limit wouldn't impact any of us, but would totally screw up the botters who are just making a character, running it through this one quest and deleting it.
Further, players could just enable more deletions via the access code, while botters wouldn't be able to keep up with it.
WoWs expansion looks like crap.
No more flying mounts ever has people raging. First expansion Im not looking forward to.

you are incorrect. i am a real player and, when i'm creating a character, i will repeatedly delete and reroll it until it feels "right" to me. this delete window you speak of is yet another bandaid and if you think they won't find a way around it, think again. the problem must be fixed at the source, not with game-changing mechanisms that are going to royally *** of a lot of players. cuz guess what? i'm in a guild full of folk just like me.

Your soundtrack is way more epic though.
What is deeply troubling though is that Zeni cannot turn these exploited quests off in a timely manner.
That quest seems to be the new goto after they just disabled that earlier one by simply turning of the gold reward.
THAT WAS MONDAY!

What DOES need to happen, though, is a load of stuff being done on the client side needs to be backloaded onto the servers. This is why the bots can speedhack, fly, and noclip -- the servers 'trust' the clients too much.* Once that's done, many of the more aggravating aspects of bots will be controlled, and more directed anti-bot measures can be undertaken.
But the client needs to be locked up ASAP. They're probably deciding that it's better that some (most?) of the players be able to play rather than shut down the servers completely. Beyond that, I have suspicions as to what they're doing or going to be doing but all this is sheer silly speculation, and I could be dramatically wrong.
* - I suspect this is why the console version is being delayed -- they need to rewrite the client so it doesn't do so much frontloading. It's easier to trust a console client than a PC client, and the game was possibly written that way, with the results you see.
I ... I left wow after 7 years only because of bots were everywhere, i hope i would not need to leave ESO also, because this is not looking good at all.
