After Today's Maintenance - Infestation of Bots Pouring In

I don't know what happened but in Stormhaven after today's regular maintenance bots are pouring in. Lot's of ajsha ajkah ehewi awuw akwha, you get the point. They are all following the same path and then enter the Sewers group dungeon in Wayrest.

Maybe some type of name verification is needed? Like no characters created using short random letter names.

I also noticed yesterday while briefly running one of my characters something odd. I was standing in front of the dungeon using the grouping tool when I got an invite to join a party. After accepting, I noticed my character name was the first name on group #2. Then I noticed the guy in group one was multiboxing, 3 characters following him in close tandem which is something done by 3rd party software I've seen before.

Yet I thought that group dungeons were 4 players only? How are they managing to get potentially up to 8 characters in a dungeon? Smelled like an exploit to me, so I just logged and ran another character.

Mention that incident because I think these things are related btw, and is happening at Wayrest Sewers. Because I also saw many bots running into the dungeon.

    Agreed !

Most people don't see this as a two sided problem, they only ever go on about the bots and sellers. But if people didn't buy the gold then there would be no market to sell it. Zeni should also ban the people buying / using brought gold !

Well, ZOS can only have so much influence outside the game, when people open their browsers and make bad choices. BUT, they can affect the in-game issue of bots and sellers.

These bots are literally OUT OF CONTROL. lol

I think it's everywhere at this point. Each major city seems flooded with them. They appear to have mastered some crazy ability of floating around to make it difficult to catch them (in game). They run around looting buildings and farming just outside town where it's safe.

Yeah, I find there is a high bot to person ratio atm. I saw a flying bot in Glenumbra yesterday. Fun times. (Yes, I do report them when I can, but not sure how to report someone flying through the air!)

Actually that has been going on for awhile. It has been referred to in several ways and they all might be right - teleporting, underground, invisible.

Ya, like creating a greater demand from a more limited supply. Just plain dumb.

They bandaid fixed the Coldharbour quest (allowed you to get gold with no effort in 2-3 minutes, without fighting).

The bots just moved on to other quests they can do the same thing with, and this is the result.

A REAL FIX is to limit character deletions to like 2 per day, with additional ones being behind an email access code, ala the you get when accessing from a new computer.

Real players don't constantly delete characters, so the limit wouldn't impact any of us, but would totally screw up the botters who are just making a character, running it through this one quest and deleting it.

Further, players could just enable more deletions via the access code, while botters wouldn't be able to keep up with it.

I've unsubscribed until they fix all of the problems,Bots included, although you will never remove all of them and they are always a problem to any recent mmo i cba with the MASSIVE amounts of them currently. Yesterday i came across 8 all gathered around 1 Jute plant picking the living crap out of it.

I'm in stonefalls right now trying to snag every bot name I see. They are back to speed hacking and ground clipping. They are moving so fast I can't catch their names. I'm about to start running fraps and pray my computer doesn't blow up with it >.>

    Don't you worry, everyone.
I'm sure that in a couple of days at most Zenimax will announce that they have "banned 123456789 bots" without actually impacting them in any noticeable way.

Is it getting to the point where there are more bots than players now?

This game reminds me of Roddy Piper's movie, They Live.

Where he puts on those special sunglasses and he's able to see that normal-looking people are in fact ugly aliens in charge of a massive campaign to keep humans subdued.

ZOS deafening silence on the topic says it all. They have not even truly acknowledged there is a problem. At least I have seen no official statement to the fact.

Yes, a few band-aid procedures have been halfheartedly applied. This uncanny silence however ( in me) awakens the suspicion that; either ZOS has no clue what to do, or that they are unwilling to have the game undergo massive surgery.

There is no daub that successfully getting rid of the Bots will mean the loss of potentially tens-of- thousands of accounts and consequently the loss of revenue.

Right now I tend to think (just my opinion and money talking) only if more revenue gets lost by players leaving the game because of the Bots then revenue is generated by keeping the bots, things will change.

This has been happening since before Thursday's maintenance. There has been a constant stream of lvl 2 and 3s still wearing rags coming out of the wayshrine in Windhelm. They head over to Thane Mera, then to the Cold Moon Inn and so on.

You'd think the GMs would have a relatively easy time banning those, since they stick out like sore thumbs.

They have infested every low-level starting point. There are a ton of them in BleakRock right now. I'm getting so tired of this. I really think it's time I un-sub, this is really making the game completely un-enjoyable.

From what I've seen, the stupid botters (Level 3, prison garb, agflkgja-type names) seem to spam accounts and activate bots just long enough to grab some gold, then they kill themselves off so that reporting them is useless.

My guess is that they've found an algorithm that allows them to spawn eight bots at once, on several accounts, kill them off quickly, and re-spawn more. Rinse and repeat.

... and those are stupidly, short-sighted ones. Then there are the ones like this:
    • This is still BETA, therefore it is not done yet (also not all tutorials are written) nor does this represent the final version!
    • We didn't finish the dx11 drawing yet, so you NEED TO RUN ESO IN DX9 (windows XP compatibility mode)!

    • You ALWAYS need to run the minion launcher with ADMIN RIGHTS!

Those cats use bots to actually play and level up characters, and many of them are being quite successful.

    This strikes me as marketing.

If they would have just kept the opening Prison tutorial run mandatory for every character it would have prevented a lot of this.

After the inn, they head to the stables and then to the alley between the inn and the mages guild and die.

Wait, what? They are using a botting tool with the same name as ESOUI's addon manager?

I did see a pretty funny thing yesterday though, several bots were coming from a wayshrine in Deshaan, going in two random directions, got stuck in a wall and died. Over and over again. I wonder if a GM put them there or if the bots were just broken :P At least they weren't out running around in bot trains.

These bots are a scourge, I hope whoever operates them grow giant manboobs in the forehead. It's like a nail in the eye everytime I encounter bots..

Nope, it's just information - of which I was unaware before today, assuming like most that most botters were either Chinese slavers or just completely stupid.

Yeah I'm still trying to figure out what to do about my subscription...I'm really sad the game turned out like this. I'm probably just going to finish up with my third alliance and call it quits :(

I really wanted this game to work out, I love the rest of the series but...oh well.
