Would you want to play with people on other Platforms or in other Regions?

It's my personal opinion that Crossplay is a great way to get a stable population across all platforms and regions of this game. It's my understanding that certain platforms have very few players to do activities with. Cyrodiil campaigns wouldn't be so dead, and there would be far more people queuing for Battlegrounds and Dungeons. Maybe we'd see more people out in the world, and have more activity in guilds (leading to more activity with progression groups for Trials).

How would you, as an active player of ESO, feel about having more players in the game? You might see new faces if you don't regularly play on all platforms. If you had to choose, would you rather see players in other regions (crossplay between NA and EU servers) or see players from other platforms (crossplay between PC, PlayStation, and XBOX) or both?

I can't vote because of the biased poll. I think they should offer cross play (same region) for consoles but keep PC separate. That's how a lot of games do it and it makes sense.

Can't vote, since I don't really have a dog in this race.

Crossplay seems like a good thing and they should do it, but console by nature has a lot more to gain from getting crossplay than PC does - PC would by nature have to contend with longer Grey Host and DPS queues if more people were going into it, not to mention an added 2 weeks before any patches can land, which means any issues that are found after PTS would hang around for over a month. I also hear that PS isn't too bad in terms of population, but I'm sure XB is really seeing issues with low pop (especially XBEU, considering there are probably only 10 people who even have an XB console outside of the US). However, BG queues might be helped in all cases

Seems the most intelligent way is to keep EU and NA separate and merge the PC/PS/XB servers. Otherwise you'd get a lot of complaints about ping issues across the ocean.

But the one thing I want is to be sure that nobody's going to get a forced character name change from this. If they just went and made it so character names could be duplicated across the same server, then go for crossplay however you want.

If there is no impact on performance and the economies don't get wrecked I don't care what they do as far as crossplay goes. I don't really want to see a little pc after my characters names or something like that but that would be a small inconvenience if crossplay otherwise makes the game better.

Depends on where the megaserver is physically located. PTS is a good example, as an EU player, I have a slightly larger latency there, as if I was playing on PC-NA.

Server performance is already terrible, combine that with having to play as a european with NA is going to make it even worse.

The people in NA are great, but it's not worth suffering the hike in ping for regular and competitive gameplay.
Most europeans will be going from 30-60 ping to 100++ if they were to play on NA.

One thing is what I wish, and what is best is another: cross platform + cross region sounds awesome to an Xbox EU player which is now playing a single player game basically, but... It would likely mean an increase in my Ping and could make the game "unplayable" just as it already is for Oceanian people.

So... Sure, dreaming of more players feels great, but reality always hits anyway - I am very much in favor of the idea of crossplay, but I'm not sure how it can be done and have all players happy.

I just play PC so I might be biased.

I think performance and communication could take a bit of a hit combining regions.

I think combining PC and Consoles could cause economic disruption.

It's possible it's changed since last I knew but, last I knew Consoles had noticeable amounts of bots in some areas. So bringing them to PC might mean bringing the bots depending on implementation.

I would like to keep the both PC servers apart from one another. There are many reasons to, but my main reason is to keep the economies seperate. PCNA is crazy. PCEU is pretty healthy atm. It would be a shame to change that.

There is no reason to not have a big "all consoles" server, though.

So long as the gameplay and impact to players is low, I dont care.

If the implementation ruins my player experience, im probably done.

It isnt exactly an easy thing to implement if rhe gsme wasn't designed with the possibility in mind from the start, and we know that eso wasnt designed like that

Option 5: Don't care as long as it doesn't break the game.

The game technology already culls people in overland, so if there were a million more people in Vulkhel Guard, it would look pretty much the same as it does today.

I expect that queue times for dungeons would be shorter because it would collect the people that do that sort of thing. I think part of the problem with dungeon queue times is the number of people that actually do that, so getting more of them together can't hurt. I probably queue for a dungeon a couple dozen times per year, so this would impact me at those times.

I am not the target audience for cross play, so I guess I am "happy" as long as it doesn't break the game. I do not expect to be happy if they do this.

I can understand the case for merging the console servers (separately for EU and NA) and if crossplay is the best way of doing that then fine.

However, taking any such action by way of combining the regions or adding more loading to the already performance-struggling PC servers with very different economies would I suspect be an absolute disaster.

This is why I didn't vote.

Because I don't really care. I said in a different thread it might be interesting to be able to 'meet' some of the people I have talked to on the forums, but since most of them seem to be on PC EU, and people are pointing out that NA and EU are unlikely to be merged, it wouldn't happen anyway.

As long as it doesn't impact me (the thread about forced name changes come to mind, or server performance) then I don't really care.

I'm with the folks that voted don't care. I have one char on the EU server that I log in to for events with my guild, otherwise I play on NA. Merging regions would exacerbate ping issues.

As for cross-platform, I think people underestimate the amount of work it would take for a game that wasn't designed for it.

And with the shard system, if we do get a big population boost, people will probably only notice it in the activity finder.

I can't imagine that we'd get account merges in any case. I could completely see each account still being individual, just accessed from a different place. I know there are a lot of people who are hoping they could get their Emperor costume from their PS account on their PC character, but that I think is not going to happen. You'd probably essentially end up with having a series of alt accounts.

There are even ways that they could do a sort-of Crossplay without fully doing it. I'm envisioning something like Vengeance, since the way that seems to work mechanically is that it generates a template character instead of your real character (which is why everything in Cyro is marked as undiscovered and the once-only quests are uncompleted and your timed buffs like food and XP will pause) and then you're playing that and get all your rewards as a lump sum at the end. If it does work that way, that would mean that all servers could theoretically just log in and get a 'vengeance server' which allows crossplay without affecting the main servers at all.

If I've acquired copies of houses on both PC EU and PC NA, how would that work during crossplay? Would all my characters have access to both versions of the house? Would all players be able to create multiple versions of a house even if they only play on a single platform? In general how would content which is currently earned or purchased by platform be handled? Think major Golden Pursuit rewards, hairstyles, costumes, pets, and motifs purchased from the crown store, and lots of other things I'm sure I'm not thinking of right off.

I currently rather like having two separate sets of characters, each with their own sets of relationships and upgrades. It's not that I'm opposed to new companions, but I wouldn't want to lose the benefits of separation, either. Would my NA characters automatically become members of my EU guild? Would it mean merged achievements? I guess I'm not really sure what crossplay would entail--and would need to know more before forming an opinion.

Could you please just STOP with merging regional server suggestions please.

Some of us have spent considerable time and cash over many years on BOTH servers and such a merger would be a TOTAL DISASTER (aka rip-off) for us.

edit: eventually, despite poll bias options, voted least change - given zos history, implementation of anything like this would probably adversely affect at least one player demographic. Not opposed to console merger since that would not affect me.
