Long time absent player just wondering if they added underwater content yet.

Does ESO have underwater swimming, quests, or treasure?
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
That's right... Horse.

Unfortunately, the only new thing regarding water is that you will no longer be dismounted when entering water in Update 47. I would love for there to be some underwater content, even if it's relegated to certain bodies of water.

Devs have stated a few times that ESO engine does not support the kind of floating directional freedom that underwater movement requires and it would be a major overhaul of core game code to allow it. I guess never-say-never but I would be shocked if true underwater content is ever added.

The "Graven Deep" DLC dungeon does have underwater content, but it is limited and you basically just walk around on ocean floor in an air bubble. That is probably as close as we will get.

even this is pretty big though. having to reemount up every time there's a body of water makes me do a double take.

I'm pretty excited for that feature, don't get me wrong. I don't want to sound ungrateful by asking for more, though this is the sort of quality of life feature that I'd like to see more of.

So looking forward to the swimming mounts update, hate constantly being dismounted because I accidently stepped in a puddle.

I hope someday they're able to update the game engine to allow underwater content/swimming/diving. It would be huge tbh.

As was already mentioned, the Graven Deep dungeon has a brief section where you walk on the ocean floor with the aid of an air bubble spell. All things considered, it's a pretty neat part of the dungeon, certainly my favourite part of it. I believe the Gold Road prologue quest also has a similar section where you dive into the sea.

Unfortunately, as has also been already mentioned, the engine simply does not support the possibility for true underwater content. I cannot confirm the veracity of the claim, but I recall seeing somewhere that basically everything in the game is limited to a very short vertical plane, where how high you can jump is about as high as the skybox of any given area reaches to.

There's also a Prologue Quest, I think its for West Weald? Or Necrom, that has you walk into the ocean off the north coast of Vvardenfell. It recycles the using an air bubble to walk along the ocean floor mechanic, but I thought it was a REALLY interesting segment. Sure its not free swimming, but it has a lot of potential for exploration.

Edit: Yup, its the Prologue for Gold Road, "Prisoner of Fate".

I really enjoyed that, it was a nice bit of variety and surprise in the game.

Companions can walk on the ground under the water because they lack the ability to swim. This may be the closest to true underwater content we'll get:
