Exit Options No Longer Work

I've tried /quit, using the menu to exit the game and even Alt F4 and nothing closes the game after the update. I have to go into Task Manager and kill the process now.

Out of curiosity, where were you in the game when trying to quit out?

I tried a character in West Weald. She was just standing in the bank and I used /quit as I normally do and the game just hangs. So I tried exiting from the Character Selection screen, and also the login screen. All with the same results. It just sits there until I end the process. ALT F4 doesn't even close the game now.

I did a repair with no changes. This was fixed for a few months and now it's back. At least before Alt F4 worked but no longer an option.

tested this in a few different situations. So far only happens when I open the Furniture Vault. The player homes I tested it in were the Lakemire Xanmeer Manor and Capt. Margaux's Place. I become unable to close the Furniture Vault or move or do anything. Couldn't access the Logout menu (Escape keybind with Logout, Quit, Addons, etc.) at all. Could only exit game by closing window on external Taskbar.

    (edited for clarity)

Yea tested this in several areas. The only way to close my game now is with Task Manager. :(

Still a problem regardless of zone, character screen or login screen.

I've gotten something similar to what @Seravi has described, though only rarely and intermittently, only on one machine, and it's not exclusive to this patch. The game client is hanging on something (not sure what, because it happens only intermittently) when the process is cleaning up for exit. Normally if something like this happens, I'd use Microsoft's procmon to monitor what the process is doing so that I can diagnose the issue myself, but I can't do that because ZOS has foolishly added in "protections" that cause the game to forcibly terminate if it detects procexp or procmon running. (But that's an angry rant for another day.)

It only happens on the one machine that I have with an nvidia gpu, not on the machines with amd gpus, but that could just be coincidence and may not be related.

@delta_mystic is experiencing a different issue, almost certainly caused by an addon. The inability to access the in-game UI to exit is actually very different than being able to access the exit UI, but then have the exit itself hang the process. I suggest that @delta_mystic disable addons until they find the culprit, and they should also disable BugCatcher, since that addon is most likely the reason they are running into an addon-related Lua error but not seeing an error message that would've alerted them to the nature of the error.

My close issue was intermittent when my lag/connection, etc issues started with the PTS insanity over a year ago. The issues were worked with me and we had my game where it would close on /quit. I still needed to use Alt F4 if I went all the way to the login page. Since the latest update not one single way out of this game works, except to open Task Manager and kill the process now. Makes no sense. I do see where many are having hangs and closing issues as well so I am hoping ZOS can chase it down. They also fixed an issue I had with it taking forever to get from the login screen to the character select screen. So many things we fixed only to have it blow up again. :(

I did disable addons before posting here. It made no difference. However, the problem has since been resolved and I am grateful. :)

Glad it is fixed for you. :) I don't use addons so that isn't a factor for me sadly.
