Please Lock Subclassing

Please lock subclassing behind ESO+ so that ONLY players with an active ESO+ have access to subclassing. And give subclassers a third ability bar.

Do NOT let subclassing be a 'FREE' addition to the base game.

Thank you.

I’m an ESO+ subscriber so your plan wouldn’t affect me but what problem would that truly solve? I’m sure such a move would attract rightful accusations of subclassing being “pay to win” given the large amount of power creep from multiclassing. I’m not white knighting subclassing as I think it will be bad for the game if launched in its current form but I don’t see anything but downsides to your course of action.

Jokes aside, can you imagine switching between 3 skillbars in combat? I can't.

People did back when Overload was giving 3rd bar, so they will learn how to manage it now too.

I don’t agree with OP, but if you’re viewing P2W like this, then arcanist being the best dd currently inherently makes ESO p2W since it’s not a free class. People use this term so loosely it’s crazy lol

    OP this absolutely solves nothing

Don’t need to be an arcanist to win. Dungeons don’t care and trials have supports that aren’t arcanist (including support DPS).

The real pay to win though is housing :) .

I know that, I’m just saying people that say whole features added to games with expansions being considered pay to win is silly because every live service game with updates would be pay to win then lol

Arcanist isn't P2W because it's not a superior version of a base Arcanist. It's Pay 2 Play Different, but not Pay 2 Win.

In this case, the P2W aspect comes into play when any class becomes inferior to a paid/subscriber version of the same class.

Why? What problem would this solve?

Subclassing is the new chapter feature, so it's not free now, everyone who wants it would have to pay for it.

Oh, wait. Now I get it: if it was part of ESO+ then subscribers would get it for 'free' because it's part of something they already pay for, whereas now they have to pay extra for it.

If you want it for free you probably just need to wait a year, until the new chapter pass is rebranded as DLC and included in ESO+.

Incorrect. Subclassing is a base game feature that everyone will get with U46. Regardless whether they paid for the content pack or not. The OP is calling for a base game feature to be locked behind an ESO+ subscription.

Nah, need yo go harder. Lock subclasses behind annual eso plus renewal, requiring 3600 cp, emperor achievements, and 10,000+ hours of gameplay.

Subclassing should be for the elite of the elite only.

Also give them 10 skill bars....

So just to be clear, what happens if you let your sub expire, do you get locked out of your characters?

I wouldn't mind if sub-classing was ESO+ as it would make my game less confusing. If sub-classing is base game then companions should be base game too. I
like the idea of bringing a third bar back. I didn't play enough to enjoy it when it was available.

I fully agree with this suggestion, ZOS clearly are looking for ways to boost their ESO+ subscriber count as evidenced by their recent *discount* of ESO+.

    * Discount applied only in marketing material and not at checkout.

    ...subclassing being “pay to win”...

I do not see how subclassing is a 'win' in any way. Maybe I don't fully understand it yet. But from what I have read and seen on YouTube I see it negatively impacting existing class abilities as players find combinations that make them OP which ALWAYS leads to the devs 'tweaking' abilities to bring them in balance with everyone elses' play style.

Locking subclassing behind ESO+ would incentivize players to subscribe, yes but it would also limit the number of players using this new unnecessary feature and if they don't pay then their subclassing is simply turned off and they go back to playing normal like we do now.

I fully expect that I will give subclass a shot when it goes live and maybe then I might change my tune when I have actual experience with it. And even then I know that I will not HAVE to subclass if I don't want to. It's a choice.

But with how players are now with ESO and their "nothing is ever good enough" attitude and how so many of them treat this Massively MULTI-PLAYER Online Role Playing Game like it's their own personal SOLO game I do not see subclassing helping with the MULTI-PLAYER aspect of ESO.

Bottom line for me is I agree with everyone calling for subclassing NOT to be brought to the live game in it's current form. I know it's coming but not now nor June 2025. /shrug

Not an idea that I agree with at all, there is too much monitorization as it is. All I want is that subclassing is balance with pure classes somehow. The last thing I want is for pure classes to become irrelevant. This has got my Ice Mage lass very worried.

I think this idea would divide the playerbase too much, given how dramatically it is going to change combat.

They would do that if they want the game's player population to dwindle. Sub-classes massively boost DPS. needing an eso+ subscription to be competitive in raiding or pvp would cause many players to leave the game behind and give it negative reviews.
