Green CP costs are kinda really expensive now lol

Even if you only have enough CP for just five of the new passives, you'll still have more benefit from the green tree than before the update.

It is pretty weird to be an eleven-year player with 2800ish CP and only have three green slottables now, and one of those only partially purchased. The new way is inherently better, but still.... weird.

I think it shows just how many green nodes are useful for a wider variety of builds than the nodes in the other two trees.

If some of the green passives were split off into blue and red, that might be better? I haven't really thought super hard about it, but I kind of suspect that it would solve the problem of having 200 unassigned champ points in red/blue while still clawing for champ points to fill out the necessary green nodes.

I hope the devs don’t read this and think we all want to have to reslot CP nodes after every treasure chest, mat node, and container like we did before.

I can live with less than 4 green slottables. I have had War Mount on every character except my main character since she does all the mat and furnishing plan farming. Now she can have War Mount too! I use it because the slow mount speed gets me around at a good pace without having to click the sprint button all the time.

It will be nice to not have to reslot for fishing, and I can probably put those slottables for pickpocketing in there as well.

I personally can’t see a downside to this.

This sounds more like a "I can't afford to buy everything while not max level" issue than an actual problem. I'm aware you can't buy everything even at max CP, but you do not need everything in the green CP tree to be active at once, or even hot swappable. I'm only CP 1673, and on my crafting build, I have the following

    Breakfall - 10
    Wanderer - 63
    Fortune's Favor - 50
    Steadfast Enchantment -10
    Treasure Hunter - 50
    Meticulous Disassembly - 50
    Master Gatherer - 75 (Slotted)
    Gifted Rider - 100 (Slotted)
    Plentiful Harvest - 50
    Homemaker - 25
    Reel Technique - 50 (Slotted)
    Angler's Instincts - 25 (Slotted)

My crafting build is now significantly more better than it was before with these changes. I have Adept Rider (30%), Concealed Weapon (15%), Celerity (8%), and Wild Hunt (52%) equipped, so there's no need to waste points on steed's blessing. I don't do anything stealthy while on a crafting build, but I imagine I would have no issue affording any of those CPs when I get another 600 CP levels, let alone another 2000 for max CP.

It's not needed to have 4 stars slotted at all times in this tree either.

It's more like... if I want to run all passives, I don't have enough CP (at cp2500) to slot more than 1-2 active champion points. Which just feels... weird. Especially compared to blue/red where I have all passives unlocked and 8 or so slottables I swap between depending on content.

Before you could get the passives, and were limited by 4 active nodes, but the effective benefit was less.
Now the effective benefit is higher (step in right direction), you are still limited by 4 active nodes, but the requirement to get passives has skyrocketed.

I guess there is this expectation that at high cp, we should be able to pick them passive nodes and 4 active nodes, similarly to total points needed for blue/red.

I get you. It's better for the quality of life stars to be passives, but at the same time, what do you slot? Assuming you're not doing the justice/crime side of the tree, I can basically guess your slots in order: gathering, movement speed, sneak cost, fish? Maybe mount speed if you have the CP.

In any case, probably going to want to focus on passives first and leave most of the slotables empty, which feels odd.

Well, I'd be fine with them just continuing on this path: remove slottables from the green tree altogether.

    ... hm.
my main char uses the armory station to switch between fighting, very good thief or gone fishing. If i don't have enough points to build a three in one build i just use the amory station furthermore until i have more points.
If i have enough points to build a three in one build and only one ore two slottables and the passive points work the same as the active before - where is the problem?🤔

    Look.

You might not have "4 green slottables" now, where you used to have "4 green slottables" before.

But you've still got the same *actual capabilities* as you had before - it's just that about a dozen of the green slottables turned yellow, so you can have them all at once INSTEAD of having to have only 4 of them. It's a direct buff, and there is not a single thing about it that is a nerf.

No, the patch notes state that your mount is now %1 faster than it was before when you had maxed mount, major gallop, and gifted rider. It's a buff that won't be noticeable.

In my opinion, the two green tree slots related to character and mount speed should always remain active skills that are slottable so we can slot them when we want to go faster and we can unslot when we need to go slower to keep pace with people who don’t have them yet or choose not to use them. It would be a pain and costly to have to re-distribute skills points every time we wanted to do this.

I love the changes, and wish Master Gatherer had been included in the conversion-to-passives list.

When we first got CP 2.0, I immediately made it a long-term goal to get all of the passives and at least the four actives I wanted the most in the green tree. I am now at CP level 2,471 and it really wasn’t that long ago where I had finally achieved this goal. I use the same set up for all my characters except the one I have set up for fishing.

Well, with Update 45 I am better off than before because I redid my green tree and got some of the new passives that I didn’t have before when they were active, like the one where we have a chance to get an extra furnishing plan for example. But now I only have 3 actives and I’m having trouble picking the next active I want to go for, but that’s totally fine because like I said my characters are better off!

The three actives I’m using now are Master Gatherer, Steed’s Blessing, and Gifted Rider. And of course, I’m still planning to get to the point where all of my passives are full and I have at least four actives. Currently, the only passives I do not have are Infamous (25 CP), Cutpurse’s Art (75 CP), Liquid Efficiency (75 CP), and Inspiration Boost (0 CP because I don’t need that one anymore), and I have 41 CP in Wanderer so I need 34 CP for that. This totals 209 more green CP that I need which counting the red and blue CP we get brings the new total CP level I need to get to in order to have all the passives 3,098.

But wait, there’s more! In order to get two of those passives, Infamous and Cutpurse’s Art, I will have to get the active Fade Away (50 CP) or Friends in Low Places (25 CP). So if I am correct, that brings the total CP level I need to be to have all the passives to at least 3,173 (using Friends in Low Places). THEN, I can figure out what active skill I would like to use for my fourth active slot and start working on that, so the actual final CP level I need to be is dependent on which of the remaining actives I choose and right now I just can’t decide. And this is all assuming they don’t make any more changes between now and then! 🤣

Have you completed your fishing? If not, that is 2 slottables you can fill right there. Fishing is an amazing thing in this game and something to help you relax. Sometimes we all need a break from pvp, combat etc.

I have one character optimized for fishing, and during the Pan Tamriellic Celebration when the rare fish were curated I got all the fishing achievements, even that one for catching the special fish in Wrothgar. I normally don’t care for fishing in any game, but with the fishing curated, I actually enjoyed it and got to see some amazing relaxing landscapes. I posted musings about the experience in this thread:

The new green tree feels weird.

It seems pretty random what now needs slotting and what doesn't.

Reduce detection radius and faster sneak are passive, but reduce sneak cost wants a slot.
Faster harvesting wants a slot but harvesting more is a passive.
Friends in Low Places, a weirdo point which is the only one that isn't active on a new character and has conditions and effects that read like a Yu-gi-oh card still wants a slot despite only firing once per day.
Both the fishing ones want a slot, but most of the other harvesting ones don't.

Also the costs are all over the place.

I think it could probably do with some more drastic work.

Make the three solo nodes over on the right all the movespeed/mount ones (Steed's Blessing, War Mount, Gifted Rider) and make them all 50 point slottables.

then shuffle around the remainder so that all the stealth and crime passives are together on the left, all the harvesting and crafting ones are up the middle, and all the dungeon utility (rationer, steadfast enchantment, liquid efficiency etc) are all together on the right, and make sure each of those three "pillars" has roughly equivalent costs and number of slottables (at least 3).

And look at the costs, the other trees are mostly 50 and below but here we've got 120s, 75s, and no real sense that the more expensive points are doing enough to justify it.
