whaaaat? it's an entire month delay? Is this going to be the case every single time? This is incredibly disheartening to us who own all the DLC of the game via crown trading and can't always afford eso+... Was one of the reasons I kept coming back to play ESO because I didn't need to pay a subscription every month and just needed to buy the one new expansion but in this case I can't even buy it until a month later...
It´s just a gut feeling - but having to wait until after ESO Direct makes me guess that we maybe have to buy some kind of package and can´t get the stand alone Dungeon DLC as we used to. At least I wouldn´t be surprised.

I get that many players are unaffected by this, but as a non-subscriber, ZOS has absolutely done something bad: They made the Crowns I already purchased worth less, because I can't use them to buy the DLC upon launch any more. They made it impossible for me to play with friends and guild-mates for two weeks. So no joint exploration or blind-running the new content, unless my buddies agree to wait (which I would never ever ask for) or I give up and re-sub again.
ZOS also didn't communicate this change in their DLC reveal stream, because they knew how bad it would look and how much instant backlash it would create. They didn't clarify the 2 week waiting period until there was significant negative feedback already. All this has done is erode my trust in ZOS' decision-makers and, ironically, my willingness to pay for future content...
EDIT: Typo
This has not devalued the Crowns you bought from them, though.
Of course it has devalued Crowns. People have used Crowns to buy dungeon DLCs and were able to do so since the very first one. Some may have even stocked up on Crowns during the last sale at the end of 2024 in anticipation of the Q1 2025 update. But now I can't buy dungeons on launch day any more and lose out on playing with friends and guild mates unless I sub. This absolutely devalues my Crowns.
Imagine receiving an Apple Store gift card last Christmas, but now the store tells you that from 2025 onward it's not valid for the newest generation of products any more. Is the gift card still worth the same as before?
That’s not the same thing at all, though. Their value is still what it was before. This has literally in no way devalued anything. It just means you have to do one of a few things: Wait 14 days, subscribe to ESO+, or don’t.
ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »Since ESO Direct is on the 10th "available on the 10th of April" is not the same as "sometime after the ESO direkt". Or do you mean right after the ESO direct.
On April 10 sometime following the ESO Direct. (Depending on when they go up in the store after the livestream and what timezone you're in, I guess it could be April 11th.)

Sigh... You need a car and have $10'000 to spend. One dealership has one on site and you can drive it home today. Another has an identical car at the same price, but it only arrives in a month. Which one is the better deal that gives you more value for your money? Whatever your answer is, I'm glad this doesn't negatively impact you. No point in arguing further, let's enjoy the game instead.

This makes ESO+ less valuable to me if anything, since now I need to wait a month to do the new dungeons with the people I'd prefer to do them with, but good to know when they'll be available.

Console players have to wait two weeks for everything.

They are both soloable, I did them on an arcanist without a companion, and there were no mechanics issues when solo. I was on dps gear for all fights except the last boss in Exiled Redoubt, which I did with tankier sets.

There is a difference between "all consoleros" have to wait a month or just half of them.
It's not about waiting a month as this- it's waiting a whole month while others on your platform can play the content already.
In my dungeon group I am the only one without ESO+. So they either have to wait a month just for me , or they are going to find a replacement.
Being forced to pay a sub (in this case some sort forced by the group) is actually a reason to delete the game.

Do you have any evidence to back up this hunch? I don’t think you can reasonably make an inference like this.

What? What timezone has nothing to do with it, they should know what date and what time they are going to release or stream something, not guess vaguely when it could be. Like it's going to be 1st april 16:00 UTC or such, then let people figure out when that is in their timezone.

I had the same hunch.
After the live stream pretty sure these things will happen:
- Buy a 'year pass' with real money only, like chapters before and get all content drops during the year 'for free' (including these new dungeons)
- Buy all the pieces (including these dungeons) separately from the crown store (and spend more in total).
A lot of live service games have been doing this.

well, still better than the initial announcement where you needed an active membership whenever accessing the dungeon
can´t wait for the April announcements
It's only 2 weeks, so it'll be fine. Everyone on console has to wait 2 weeks anyway.

There was no reason to do this except to try to force us into the subscription. Which is pathetic and the reason I left SWTOR.
I always defended ESO model over sWToR, joke is on me.
Instead of adding real value to ESO+ they make the QoL of no subscribers worse. SwTOR 101.

They’re even giving you multiple ways to access it. This is the opposite of trying to “force us.”

I want to play with my friends, they won't have the sub on April when I will be able to buy it with crowns. So I cannot play with my friends the new DLC. How is this not forcing?

Also, while I think this is unbalanced, I also think it's worth noting that ESO+ has been gutted on more than one occasion, to the benefit of non-ESO+ members, who have received a not-insignificant amount of free content over the last few years that ESO+ members have paid for as part of their subscription. (And no, owning the content outright is NOT a benefit to a subscriber UNLESS they unsubscribe. And further, getting a pet or fire-breathing lizard camel does NOT make up for it.)

I’m not sure I’m following this reasoning. You could, I guess, unsubscribe if your other friends do not have ESO+. Or you could wait, or you could run it with others. Not sure how that makes it less valuable to you?

This is not what you describe, and not FOMO.
I know quite a few people who basically log in to play in specific groups, and not much else. For them, playing with these groups is the game.
And if three people in the group decide to go ahead and replace you because they want to play content that you can't access, then that removes the reason to play the game. Or you're holding three people back from things they want to do in the game.
It's not about the content per se. It's about the disruption of groups that this causes, completely unnecessarily.

This is a hunch based upon what came before + the actual info ZOS has already provided
- Current chapter releases were never part of ESO+, so I don't assume a 'year pass' package won't be either, or they will cut off a whole revenue stream for no reason. Chapters could only be purchased with real money, so I assume the same will apply here. I also don't think they will make a year pass ESO+ only, because again, this will cut off a whole revenue stream of players who don't like subscriptions. And seeing the giant pushback for these dungeons (which is a small content drop in the grand scheme of things), this won't go over well.
- Jessica said here that the dungeons will be in the crown store as a package on April the 10th. This is a definitive clear answer.
- In the clarification post of the studio letter was said that this dungeon pack was just anomaly because they are shifting away from chapters. So this dungeon thing is a one off. Something Jessica repeated here in her posts and is also a definitive answer.
- In the end I don't think much will change when it comes to monetization. But instead of one big content drop (a chapter with 1 themes story) with a roadmap, we get smaller content drops during the year to keep momentum going and focus more quickly on issues and pain points without being stuck in a year long cycle.
