Please, please, please NO!!!! This is a terrible idea. I love this game, but customized stuff like noisy recalls and excessive effects are destroying this game. It's becoming hard to recommend this game due to this kind of useless mess. I wouldn't mind if all that useless awfully looking things were seen and heard only by the owner, but we have to remember that all this kind of mess will become forced to all players, ruining the game for all. Until we don't have an option to disable all customized stuff and effects from other players, please don't recommend things like this. There's already too much sound and visual noise in the game. It's so sad. :'( This game could be amazing without it.

Honestly, a better thing for ZOS to do, instead of adding *less* customization (and thus missing out on potential revenue, and keeping some players interested if they add the actions through gameplay) is to simply add options to be able to mute or turn down the sounds of customized actions/emotes. While I would love it if it were individualized so that each action/emote could be muted/turned down without effecting others, I would even take a single 'I don't want to hear this noise in game/that noise is too loud' that just turns down all player created sounds (ie playing emotes, summoning pets/mounts, custom actions)

I personally wouldn't use a necromantic one, but some of the ideas I have seen are cute, and I love personalized actions (even though I have one right now. I want more!) so why not add more variety!

More so than this, I would like it if when a companion falls in battle they don’t “die” and have to be “resurrected” but instead simply get knocked out and come around after the battle, or even auto revive while the battle is still going on every 15 seconds after they fall. I know it’s mostly just words, but all the dying and resurrecting in the game has always just seemed rather silly to me, even if we explain it with soul gems and “Vestiges” (so many Vestiges!).

In stories and quests when we kill the antagonist they usually stay dead, none of their followers come along behind us and resurrects them with a soul gem. When we do things like group dungeons over and over, it’s not like we kill Lady Thorn one day and she gets resurrected by someone and then the next time we go in, she says, “Oh, are you back to kill me again after I was resurrected and then resurrected all of my minions?”

Now that I figured out how to disable the "frost draugr rune collection" one, the only one I really care about using is the gold road recall. Most of this sort of thing is just - fluff I haven't any need for.

That one is almost okay, except for the “beam me up” energy effect. If the character just faded it would be great.

I've found many of the animations to take longer than just picking the flower or taking the node. Sometimes they just seem to be laggy with all their lights and sparkles.
Nice idea but don't really need it and probably wouldn't use it at all.

That's the best part of it. I'd pay for one with just that effect and nothing else

I feel like customised actions are a trap of sorts, not opposing a crafting ones or res but overall. Would prefer actual new mechanics with obviously new animations and stuff, like different stances with weapons, actual new weapons etc. instead of masking everything with new shiny skins available from the CS mostly. It's an easy way out yea but I'd like them work on a game that's getting quite a money flow admittedly.

If it is customized to owner only, like gathering animation, then it makes no difference.

If it is visible to all like a teleport, then it is an odd distraction in a difficult situation. I don't want it.

I rez people in pvp, dungeons & trials, and do not want some silly distraction - if anything, I would want it to be faster &, on console at least, the trigger to be better placed (how many times do people go in to their inventory or whatever when trying to rez in a stressful situation?!)

What’s the “difficult situation”? It’s another player’s cosmetic item.

The "Difficult situation" would be a time where a player is dead. Meaning during difficult content.

I.e. If they're doing content wherein there's actually a chance people can die, then they don't want to be distracted by some pretty fairy lights someone decided to have as their res animation.

    Readability.

If there's some super garish, brightly coloured sparkle factory of an animation, it can obscure things like ability telegraphs and targetting circles.

In addition, there can be some animations that could make someone think that there's a boss ability being used at a glance (If they're not super familiar with the encounter, or if the animation is very similar to a boss attack)

Some people actually do utilize visual cues for their gameplay rather than staring at addons that tell them everything instead, in which case animation differences can be notable (Especially for something like reviving which isn't adjustable with the Custom Colours setting given that it isn't an ability, which is the reason why skill customization isn't as notable in the same regards)

Do you mean the blue monster beam? If so, that's from Beam Me Up, and you can disable it in that addon's settings.

Your suggested necromancy ritual sounds like it would be distracting during some veteran trials when we are running around trying to revive people and not wipe. Playing on console, I need to be able to see the visual cues during boss fights because we don't have add-ons.

Although if you changed the customized action to be one where the person would tea bag and revive someone at the same time, I know someone who would buy that from the crown store immediately. (Not me).

What’s the “difficult situation”? It’s another player’s cosmetic item.

I'm not eager to contemplate someone's (including mine) cosmetics while one of our tanks or heals has to be resurrected.

Also, I prefer a clear determination if the res is in progress or not. Doubling this info with an add-on, visual, and sound is a plus because it is vital for a group. The opposite, obstacling it with cosmetics, makes nothing good.

I didn't mention the performance yet, while it is important for many players. Ask yourself, why are non-battle pets removed in PvP? Why may trial players ask you to remove them if the addon hasn't done it for you? It’s another player’s cosmetic item, isn't it?

Why not just make every character look the same? Every ability look the same?

I take this "reductio ad absurdum" argument as a cosmetic item. It doesn't have any real effect here :)

Reductio ad absurdum is, in this case, a rhetorical technique and not an actual argument. :)

Should mention too that begging the question’s a much bigger matzoh ball. Like, for instance, assuming that a different resurrection animation would somehow make your trials impossible or whatever.

It's been so many years since I watched a ST episode I'd forgotten about that....

[Literally, the last episode I watched was back in the 60s. And that's the last time I watched tv, other than sports - which I don't actually "watch".... I listen to what goes on as the tv is behind me, and husband watches it 16 hours a day.... *SIGH*]
