Although I don't know from memory what leads come from Treasure Maps' Chests, I appreciate the list. And for those like me checking one by one the Eidetic Memory, books containing a hyphen in the title *may* not appear when searching

Hey, im just coming back after a long break from the game amd I left right around the time scrying came into the game. I just want to clarify what you're saying here. In those zones listed, the treasure maps can contain furnishing leads but if I don't search out and read the listed lore books beforehand there is no chance of obtaining these leads? But only for these zones? I'm loving scrying and I dint wanna miss out on cool leads. Sorry and thank you.

Exactly that, haven't read the books in the world, the chest's will have zero chance of containing the lead for that book. 🙂

Thank you so much. Sorry to be a bother, but one last thing. These furnishing leads will be for the books in question? If so that is fantastic.

They are not leads - the chests will have a chance to drop the items themselves, but only if you've read them before (eidetic memory).

Incorrect. The books are just furnishing drops directly from the chest. Leads are an entirely different entity.

And I read somewhere that if you’ve read the book already, the book has about a 33% chance to be in the treasure chest. I found this to be more or less true when I went searching for all of these books for my library, some books were harder to get than others but it didn’t really take that long to get them all.

Thanks to everyone who answered. Theres so much to learn and relearn after 4 years that its almost intimidating lol. Being able to ask direct questions when not in game at work is a big help.

^^^ As stated, they are actual furnishing items, not leads. I'm not sure when they started dropping, but I've been getting them for at least several months now, and had wondered about them since I didn't remember ever getting them before. Thank you for the list, as it will be very helpful. :)

Tbh I am just interested in completing Ancient Daedric motif by completing the Deadlands codex, but these maps are absurdly expensive. Necrom onwards would be nice to get the furnishing leads but I can take my time for those.

So, it's a list of books to avoid reading. Thanks!

As people have already clarified, these are NOT leads and these are NOT related to motifs.

Treasure chests in various zones now have a chance to drop a furnishing item (not a lead for an item, but the item itself) in the form of a readable book.

So for example, if you've read Vosh Rakh, then you have a chance to get a Vosh Rakh book furnishing from Wrothgar chests. You can place this furnishing in your house if you ever want to read Vosh Rakh again (which you can already do from the library tab of your journal--this just provides another way to do the same thing).

Since they are bound and drop somewhat frequently, most people consider these books to be space-consuming trash items that they need to spend time destroying. If you're into this kind of thing and want to fill your house with books, then this is great. But most people that I know don't care and think that this is just more inventory management nuisance.

No, it’s per character. For example, if you go to the IA vendor and they are selling a book furnishing, the book furnishing is red and not buyable if that character hasn’t read the that book. But if you go to the vendor with a character that has read the book, you can buy the book furnishing. It’s the same way with treasure chest that drop books. If you’ve read the book on that character that is looting the chest there is a chance a book furnishing will be in the chest.

It should be worth noting as well, that if you place the book in your house, any other character (yours or a visiting player) that has not read it can read it and get the credit for reading it just like they would if they found it out in the wild.

It's also useful for when there is an endeavor for "Read (X) Lorebooks" too. As then all you need do is fast travel to your house and read them within seconds.
