Should Companions wear helmets?

Of course they should be able to. I think it is disrespectful to them to not wear head protection in combat if they so wish.

they do wear head protection in equipment, but it's invisible in outfits.

Yes, as long they can be hidden, in the same way all my character hide theie head gear.

I don't need it, but if it's an option and I can select not to use it, then I'm OK with it.

I really can't understand the push for this.

...I'd rather be able to stick a helmet on them and pretend they're someone else. Preventing me from doing so isn't going to make me like them any more.

Would be great if we could that in real life, or at least on wibbly forum threads.

Yes, we should have an option for that. I would like my Isobel to weat a proper knight's helm (I guess she would agree), and I think it would be nice to add a hood to my Zerith's armor.
To me, it's all about options. If someone thinks that wearing a helmet would erase their companion's individuality, they can just click on "hide helmet".

I'd like to see similar customization that our players can apply with adornments, markings, and maybe even skins. A helm or no helm toggle is kind of common sense. It doesn't make sense for a knight to go into battle with no dome protection. :#

They do wear head protection. It's just not displayed.

Gameplay does not equal visuals and immersion. I can't see a helmet on her, therefore she's not wearing one.

There is not a single reason to be against this. Letting people have the option to put a hat, hood, helmet or whatever on the companion is a nice cosmetic option that only adds good things for players. People who want a helmet so it looks like their companion's is actually protecting their noggin' can do so and are happy, and people who don't want to can choose not to and are happy.

Personally I think wearing a hat, hood, or helmet or even changing their hairstyle wouldn’t change their identity. It doesn’t change the identity of my characters if I put on visible headgear or even change their hairstyle. My character still has the same name, skills, etc. they did before, and it would be the same with companions, and allow for a more diverse looking world instead of being forced to see companion clones. I mean, how many lookalikes can Bastian have before it becomes hard to explain? I’m even beginning to wonder if my Bastian is even the real Bastian or a doppelgänger!

If we're going to be literal about it, then there's nothing special that makes Isobel Veloise more of a knight than other Companions.

The "knight" aspect is purely an aspect of her character — there's no actual change to her AI compared to other Companions aside from access to a couple of Companion Templar skills.

Once we get another Templar Companion, they might reuse a couple of Isobel's Companion Templar skills without actually being a knight!

    Greetings all,

We have decided to close this thread as it looks to be a duplicate of another thread, which can be found here.
