Scribing is the biggest new gameplay system since tales of tribute. I've been having so much of a blast with it, now I'm able to heal without resto staff and very well too for instance. It's really added more depth/variety to builds in a way that no other mechanic has for a long time.

I can't help but laugh at this. Insulting it by faint praise?

I don`t care for the cast time but this filled in gaps on most of my characters. It helped consolidate buffs and debuffs, thanks ESO Devs!

Reading this thread makes me question if I am just too OP with luck or not. I get ink all the time, very easy actually, since it drops from literally everything pretty much.

As per my prior post, this thread's months old and the first 3-4 pages are totally out of date. ZoS listened to feedback tweaked ink drops and where it came from. We now have vastly improved ink drops and sources.

The question still stands though....was it worth it?

My answers changed drastically, no it wasn't worth it when it was a system I couldn't engage with. Now, yes, I run a one bar soul themed necro with 4 scrubbed skills.

When so many posts complained about ink availability, the first 3-4 pages of this thread are out of date.

Your setup sounds very interesting! What skills did you scribe? 🙂

    SoulCro

Meant to be a fun build with less than 40 skill points to finish so I didn't need to quest or get skyshards, using Oblivion's Foe and Soul Magic. Two months later, has completely become my main. Sits at about 30-40k DPS in normal play. Could be further optimized with Mystic Orb and Entropy, with Sergeants and Deadly gear, Bloodthirsty jewels, but eh, I enjoy the build and that's what counts right?

All I do in ESO is PvP, solo quest, world boss dailies, archive. Can solo all but three world bosses, B'Korgen, Walks, and Hessedaz. DPS checks with a heal are this characters bane.

    Skills

    Ulfsild's: Healing > Sage's Remedy > Resolve
    Soul Splitting Trap
Soul Burst: Magic Damage > Lingering Torment > Breach Minor
Wield Soul: Magic Damage > Lingering Torment > Breach Major
    Spirit Guardian

    Soul Assault Ultimate

    Stats

    40 Magicka
    24 Health
    Lady Mundus

    Gear

War Maidens Resto Staff > Nirnhoned > Life Drain Enchant

7 pcs Light Armour > Divines > Tri Stat Enchant
    - 1 pc Chudans
    - 1 pc War Maiden
    - 5 pc Oblivions Foe

Jewelry > Swift > Spell Harm Enchant
    - 2 pcs War Maiden
    - 1 pc Oakensoul

    Swaps and stuff.

Guild trial as a DPS, I'll swap out the two heals for Mystic Orb and Trample (> Magic Damage > Lingering Torment).

Battlegrounds, swap Soul Burst with Radiating Regen. Keep the heals up, Wield Soul's your spammable, Soul Assault when you see someone low or squishy.

Cyrodiil, swap Soul Burst with Radiating Regen. Swap Ultimate for Lifegiver. I'm best as a siege monkey in Cyro, have my 3 ballista technique down to a tea. The rest of the time I'm more suited as a healer. But now I make the enemies of the queen sparkle with Oblivion's Foe.

RND's & Pledges, swap Wield Soul with Radiating Regen. You're queuing as a healer now with three heals on the bar + Oblivion's Foe sparkles. Or swap Wield Soul with Silver Leash, you should be over 20k resists, with about 30k health, and for normal mode only, you're a tank now.

Anyone else notice that there aren't any tutorials published on how to make scribing skills that are competitive or stronger than plain old class and weapon skills yet?

This is what happens when the end game community leaves the game. :(

Maybe this is what happens when ZOS releases content that doesn’t change end game?

Actually, it is that people don't care enough any more. I have some interesting scribing stuff, but it doesn't matter. I am in the game around 1/5 to 1/10 that I was, and i would rather spend my time and energy elsewhere now.

I haven't done a lot of experimenting with Scribing yet, but I've scribed a few skills and have found them to be useful.

My only real complaint about them is that Stamina-based skills get cut off by Negate the same way that Magicka-based skills do, and that keeps me from wanting to put a lot of scribed skills on my ability bars since I don't want to find myself limited to basic or core combat (light/heavy attacks and bashing) in the middle of a fight.

Aside from that one issue, I think Scribing seems pretty useful, and I've not been having the "horrible RNG" issue with finding Luminous Ink that other players have been reporting.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Scribing rocks but it hasn't been extended far enough yet.

For example, we need effects like gap-close and execute plus permuting the different damage types across all of the current and future grimoires. Those are obvious must-haves but I would also love some additional creative effects that will be surprising. There are also issues with buffs such as Major Brutality, Endurance, Prophecy being artificially short, which nerfs their quality-of-life appeal.

And there's also an element of balancing vs. the "old" skills that needs to be looked at. Like, in most cases, the Scribed "equivalents" of skills are clearly superior to in-class versions, which should not be the case. I would love to see class skills given additional modifiers to incentivize their use again.

But overall the Scribing system is a fantastic new addition with a solid foundation upon which to continue building. It was a much-needed breath of fresh air after basically half a decade using the exact same limited number of skills.

Me. I don't care enough any more, especially with the, ' I log, in so nothing is wrong' crowd.

I was talking about players without rose-tinted glasses or those so ignorant so as not to see. I have over 10k hours in the game and a beta player. I am tired and too old for this 'Bieber'.
