Scribing: Was it worth the effort?

I'm not sure because the poll is not specific enough

The Spirit of the Poll should be ' Is scribing useful to you, enough to warrant all the tasks required to obtain it '. After all, it is just a bit harder than getting your Antiquities qualification, and takes an extra minute or 500 to complete.

However, they do not take into consideration Other reasons to get all the facets of scribing. Specifically, a really nice two rider mount (Horse).

I did it for the horse and I have no complaints. However, I have not even Looked what is required to actually USE scribing as part of the game, And additionally, reading how much in-game gold would be required just to obtain everything needed, ABSOLUTELY made the decision for me. That is, to NOT ever scribe anything.

    IMHO

Things could have been implemented better, a bit less of a grind or why do most have to have a cast time, but it's still probably the biggest thing to change combat outside of a whole new class being added

This poll and thread are months old, and surprisingly as this is ESO, way out of date. We have since had multiple sources of ink added through heavy sacks and chests. It's been long enough now for the ink price to drop significantly. When this poll first went up, ink was about 80k per piece on PC EU, it's now closer to 1k per piece, and it gets cheaper every week.

ZoS listened to feedback and tweaked the drops. I was deffo on the angry side of the fence back when this poll went up, now I'm on the contented side of the fence.

Would be interesting to see if a re-run of this poll at about Christmas time would have the same results.

It's one of the best questlines in the game in my view, but beyond harvesting ink from time to time I haven't pursued scribing beyond the initial questline.

There are lots of interesting things in game that could be fun to try out for builds. Unfortunately they invariably come with mind-numbing grinds. I sometimes just don't get how people even get to enjoy these things. Can't be one in a thousand players who has time for all that?
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

doing the scribing quests is 4..8 hours total. per account.
that is basically nothing compared to 40..60 dungeon runs, when you decided to farm a specific set.
considering there might be further additions of scripts, boosts and nerfs - quite worths the efforts
    (in my humble opinion)

Interesting. It was one of the worst "phoned in" quest lines that I have seen in a long time. It seemed to be designed to be just busy work, and they accomplished it by reusing stuff, namely 'daily rewards', until they reached whatever grind metric they had for it. Bottom line is that it feels lazy and is rather long and boring, except when it doesn't work, and then it annoying instead of boring.

EDIT: Aside from the fact that Scribing isn't at all interesting or necessary, the quest line is the next reason I have only done it once. I play on four different megaservers and have Gold Road unlocked on all of them.

Scribing was absolutely not worth the effort, neither the developers' nor mine. It is a colossal waste of time and yet another method to add lots of needless chores to existing content to a game that is turning more and more into a work simulator.

As was mentioned before, all the quests are quite boring, but nevertheless they are incrdibly lengthy.

I've only used a few skills, but I think it's a cool system, and I appreciate that it's giving options for customizing skills without throwing things out of balance with them. I also like how I can have extra utility for some specs with only sacrificing a skill slot. I wish ink was a more ubiquitous resource so I could try everything out without worrying about it, or having to go to the PTS. I also wish the aesthetics associated with the quest and the Scholarium were made with new design assets, instead of recycling old ones, it would make everything feel more unique.

The bulk of the ink I have comes from daily rewards, although, that may be due to it being available only in West Weald and I never go there.

it's useful because it allows filling in some gaps for overland builds, I use 2 new skills all the time, I don't know if any of the scribing skills are good enough for more serious content though, the ink drops have been better lately, still a bit low, unlocking scribing for an alt is a pain though due to scripts coming from dailies, the chapter event helped with that though

My answers changed drastically, no it wasn't worth it when it was a system I couldn't engage with. Now, yes, I run a one bar soul themed necro with 4 scrubbed skills.

When so many posts complained about ink availability, the first 3-4 pages of this thread are out of date.

It's just an empty errand, simply going from point A to point B. I only do it because if I don't, I can't compete on equal terms in PvP. I feel that if this is developed in the future, the identity between classes will be lost.

I get ink everywhere, on every girl I have out. It drops for me in any zone I'm in, from any kind of node, from chests, from backpacks, from surveys now too. All my girls harvest every node etc the entire time I'm playing them.... I think the most prolific nodes are water and alchemy though.

But I still don't have any use for scribing much. I'm happy with how my characters are set up, and I'm just not really interested in swapping stuff around all the time. As long as they can kill whatever's in the way, they're fine. And since I just don't bother with anything more complex than overland.... *shrug*

It's hard to make a tutorial for something that isn't possible. Most grimoires just aren't that good.

It doesn't take much effort to find guides to the best scribing skills. The problem isn't a lack of content creators, it's a lack of skills worth incorporating into real builds.
