Maintenance for the week of November 4:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – November 6, 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EST (23:00 UTC)

Housing Tour (U43) has good potential to become a source of community-based content [and more]!

On the console, tours are not something I care about. I understand some people do, I'm ok with this but what I really need are tools to manage my inventory, plans and completed furniture.

A search function while creating or a tabbed list of plans, an inventory of items in a particular house. A furnishing bag would be ideal but I understand that is too hard. More slots again too hard, but a better UI for creating and maintaining housing? That's too hard?

I already spotted the usual nutcases ingame discussing how profitable selling listing votes would be

I'd like to know more about how this ranking system and favorites will work.

Right now on EHT Community, I believe the Favorites are just the player's personal favorites and not something anyone else would see. I am pretty sure though that ranks would be public and I don't know what use they would be other than bragging rights, but there is a huge potential to become toxic.

May we please get more information on how this will work?

Neverwinter/StarTrek MMO used to have a feature where player could make their own quests/content and publish them in-game. This new system could definitely be a good starting point towards that. I would truly like to experience and of course create lore-friendly content for other players to enjoy. It's quite a task though that will require a lot of coding and testing, but one can always dream lol

The voting/recommending houses is a huge problem and something I hope does NOT make it live.
I love touring homes NOW in ESO. When update 43 happens, I will no longer be house touring. House tours will become stressful.
Drama and tensions will arise. I'll have to explain myself every time I don't upvote a friend's house.

Is that so common? Because I don't demand anyone to like my stuff, friend or not (because it's clear that tastes are different) and I don't owe anyone an explanation for my likes and dislikes, either?

It's trash. Given everything the housing community has been asking for over the past several years this is what they come up with?

    [snip]

It isn't that they don't care. It is that players keep asking for things that at this time are not possible.

Except the most certainly are possible. Take the furnishing bag, for example- it'd work exactly like the craft bag, and put no additional strain on the servers at all because having 10 of X furnishing in your furnishing bag would be the exact same as having 10 of X furnishing in your inventory. Giving NPC house guests the ability to do basic emotes or interact with certain items? I remember when having NPC house guest pathing was supposedly "not possible". Mannequins? Well, I'll give you that one. Having a mannequin remember a specific combination of armor pieces and colors seems pretty out of reach to me, but they could always introduce mannequins that are able to equip costumes (or at the very least, introduce premade armor and weapon furnishings such as a spear rack or something). They *have* the resources, they *have* the ability, yet instead they cranked out this largely underwhelming housing update that rips off an existing addon for a feature hardly anyone requested and they took a whole year up to this point to do it. It's ridiculous and after that sorry excuse for a 10th anniversary that was rife with horrible decisions, reactions to said decisions, and gamebreaking issues like the PTB situation; People are right to feel disappointed and even insulted. Maybe the devs do care, but if that's the case, then they are extremely out of touch with their own playerbase.

Would a furnishing bag would hold unlimited furnishings like the craft bag does with mats?

To be honest... we already have all that. Just join one of the *very* active housing guilds, like Tamriel Homes, and you will have people doing all that and more. Housing tours, mazes, stories, roleplay... it's all there.

What we *really* need - real QoL improvements for housing enthusiasts - has been ignored. Again.

This is it in a nutshell. Many wanted a furnishing bag and increased furnishings allowed in homes a lot more than this system. Another system that will obviously be corrupted by greed. I certainly won't be paying anyone to vote for my homes. That's not a win at all. It's just ridiculous. It's like when players buy the emperor title. Plus, many other systems need fixing and QoL

This is NOT something the housing community asked for.

Actually it is. It's not been a very common request but there have been threads in the past asking for ways to visit all of a player's houses, not just the primary.

I just wonder how they focus on/give priority to community requests.

Furnishings bag was far more asked for, and would probably have been far easier to implement imo.

I don't think anybody even remotely thinks this is a bad update. It's really not, it's fine. The update itself with base game changes is actually sick.

The issue is what they're adding, which is something already in the game essentially and that nobody has suggested or asked for, AND that they've been hyping it up, giving nobody hints as to what it could be, etc.

The community generally gives a massive variety of phenomenal ideas for what to add, so when they do something like this, it can be frustrating.

Well.... after reading through a few more than negative comments, I am not sure about this community anymore. As a housing enthusiast I have downloaded all the "must have" addons for the whole thing, of which clearly the most insightful was the EHT - which not only did it have nice buliding helpers, but I believe one of its most used and welcomed feature was the possibility of visiting other people's homes without them being set as their primary. A lot of content has been done through that ( actually most of it) - and I saw it as perhaps one of the most popular tools in the entire add on.

That being said the add on felt heavy for me - and overall while I do recognize the utility of addons, I do try to keep things to a minimum and in time seeing that I did not much use EHT for more than just visiting (simply because I never liked the fact that in order to see cool features ppl had to have it !) - but I always missed the listing of homes thing. True enough I am not a player to roam in communities or constantly highlight what I do or actively ask others what it is they are doing - and I have always wondered : if an add on can do that, and the housing community is so highly dependent on visiting each other's homes, why doesn't the game implement this feature itself?

Now it has come. Is it much? - no. Is it helpful? - for those with the addon and years of using precisely that - no. Is it fair? - hell yes. One less "regret" off my list - seeing that I have lost that feature the moment I have uninsallted EHT (and other similar addons). Can't we at least be greateful that features brought in by addons and highly used over time by players are slowly being implemented in the game itelf so that ALL may enjoy it?

I had no interest in this feature before launch. Housing isn't something that hooks me. I make one house, put what I need in it, and that's it.

However, I kept seeing one of my fave houses pop up in the listed bit, Cliffshade. I must admit, super impressed at some folks builds, and has given me a bit of an inspirational bug to do something else with my house.

I'll be getting ESO+ again near Christmas when I have some time off and actually giving house decorating a proper go. I guess for me at least, this feature has had a desired effect. Thumbs up, ZoS.

ZOS thought exactly like that, so did several other notable devs with dead games. ZOS had example to learn from, but they didn't. This feature has a very damning potential to ruin player creativity and turn the housing gameplay a very toxic competitive hell.

I have commented before about how player decorated houses can be so much more spectacular than the furnished version in the Crown store. I guess they decided to go for the free advertising after all, lol.
