Say I don't like you and give your name to a gold site to send gold to. Hmm I just got you permanently banned, cos I don't like you.

Sounds like a really clever plan you have there chief.

And I would just contact Zeni and tell them a stranger sent me a large amount of gold, please can they remove it from my account, and investigate where it came from...

Probably not resulting in an permanent ban.
Yeah right. Because people coming across free money normally contact the authorities. Ask you local police force how often they get cash handed in.

Never underestimate just how greedy people can be when they think no one saw them.

Ever send money to the wrong character in an MMO, I have, I never saw it again.

The fact that you don't see the issue is your problem..IMO. Banning a specific country with a large amount of Asians...say 99.9% (Probably higher) and you say it's not racist. Not sure where your thinking is coming from.

Did I say ban asians or did I say ban a country where most of the infractions come from, using China as an example? Where is the racism? Not sure you understand what racism is....

    My comment is not racist.

Segregation of a specific race which would be China is racist...not knowing you have a problem might be the problem.

Ok, guy who doesent know me. I'm sure the vast amount of my culturally diverse friends could tell you different. Anyway, I have said my piece, I'm not here to debate the meaning of racism with anyone.

You want to fight the botters, ban the IPs where they orginate, if they are smart enough to hide the IPs, then there are people smart enough to counter that.

This is my last post here because we are going off topic. This was my suggestion, if you have a better idea, then let people know.

My post was never about race or racism, you would have to read it first though.

When I played Lineage 2, the biggest seller of gold in that game was a company owned and run by North Americans. They set up sweat-shops in China, where labour was cheap, but it was still an American company.

    Just putting that out there.

Chryos I honestly don't think you are a racist...I however see the comments are. I also agree the bots need to go, just the way about it is in question...

@KariTR I hear ya. They cant set up a shop like that here tho, it's illegal and they wouldnt try and hack a game here and risk going to jail. However I was merely stating, that if the majority of a problem is confined to one geographic area, then remove the problem area.

What is more important, taking care of the majority of honest players or a minority? Thats pretty much what happens in the real world.

I said this was my last post however:

I should add that I'll discuss stuff on topic, but I am not going to be called a racist by people who can not figure out what racism is. I know what racism is, I took the college level cultural diversity class, so lets not debate what it is, with me.

What this "person" wants to say that the word "racism" is used wrong by most people if we look at the definition.

Today people use it to to describe bahaviour that is hostile against nations, races or any religious groups of people due to prejudices.

Pointing out that "mistake" makes it not better.
It just shows that he is not only a "racist" but also ignorant.

Good for you you had to take a class in "college" to learn what racism is...
Here in Europe teachers start teaching that in elementary school.

Have fun in your trailer park -.-

Discrimination is the correct word. These days you need a damn good legal reason to discriminate against anything. Saying most gold sellers come from China as justification, would get you quite a large law suit.

Laws of this nature are getting stricter and stricter. In the UK, insurance companies can no longer use sex when setting premiums, regardless of the fact that men have less claims than women, but massively larger claims when they do, it's discrimination, so it's no longer lawful.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

I am not chinese but I will not tolerate such "persons".
Yeah... it´s just a game but it´s still discrimination.

Your particular moral views do not render you immune to the forum rule against personal attacks.

They also don't render you immune to the irony of being so intolerant of intolerance.

This issue goes deeper than just being unfair to any particular country. My personal data is at risk. My account is at risk. Gold farming just isnt a video game crime. It's identity theft for everyone.

Look my intent wasnt to smear anyone or call or say against bad against anyone. these are discussion forums and you cant have thin skin. I am sorry if anyone is offended by what I said. I would say the same thing if the situation were reversed. My major point is all of our personal data/accounts are at risk if botters can hack this easy.

How will you feel once your data is stolen from anyone, anywhere?

Stereotyping me in a trailer park? and here you are calling me the racist.
To add, yeah sometimes you have to take certain classes to get a degree, it's called social sciences, and Cultural Diversity is one of them. I guess you did not know that, huh?

It should be noted of the possibility than when you speak out against criminals (aka botters), they could try and silence you through character defamation (mispell?).

Thats pretty much how they retaliate. (i.e. trolling) That's a pretty common occurance. Not saying this happening here is the case, but it could be possible. Something to think about. No one like they're profits cut into, especially criminals.

I personally notice a decrease, I'm sure it'll get better in the future. Theres really no need to spend real money on virtual items when your with a good guild, theres plenty of sharing and trading. If anything you can always trade one thing for another or trade a service.

this is what I used to do in EQ. If I wanted something I couldnt afford in game. I would offer my odd job services. I could be your mat farmer for a time period. Be your questing buddy or personal assistant, for example. Something like that. I farmed certain tradeskill items for like a month, a few hours per day for a really expensive game item. I would do that alongside of my personal adventures. Made some good friends like that too.

    They already do?

It's spelled out in the ToS. Not sure why you think people wouldn't get banned.

It's spelled out in the ToS as a deterrent. They're not banning gold buyers. Not sure if you read the story of the lady who sent 50k gold to her husband to purchase a horse. She set off all kinds of red flags and was subsequently banned because she was flagged as a gold seller. The husband, who was the recipient of the same mail that flagged the wife as a seller, received no punishment. They may have it in the ToS, but they're not serious about banning gold buyers.

First paragraph in the definition of Gold Farmer as taken from Wikipedia:

"Gold farming is playing a massively multiplayer online game to acquire in-game currency that other players purchase in exchange for real-world money.[1][2] People in China and in other developing nations have held full-time employment as gold farmers.[3]"

    Just to show people....

What do you believe you are showing people?

Is that some sort of proof that banning china from accessing the game would solve the issue of gold sellers?

I can get you a link to a wiki, that says elvis is alive and secretly runs the world, I guess that must be true.

Just give up and stop posting already. You made an utterly biggoted suggestion and got pulled up on it. Move on.
