No, they need to delete the buff system so you pick skills for what they do instead of the buffs they provide. The buff standardization failed miserably, just look at necro. Irrelevant cause it doesn't have access to as many buffs and debuffs. Delete the need to slot things just to have certain buffs to meet base line power levels and watch bar space free up.

Alternatively they could just add a passive slotting system and remove them from active skills.
This feedback right here is what these forums desperately need. I frigging hate micro-managing my build, see what's provided to me, what I am missing etc. etc. it's stupid, couple that with the already bad combat and you get a very bad mix for gameplay.

I'm willing to bet that Oakensoul remains the most popular Mythic. Clicking on empty GCDs that offer nothing but a timer to babysit is unsatisfying, and interferes with engaging in the combat itself.

The problem with Barbed Trap is that there just isn't a better way to proc Minor Force. It's either Trap, Accelerate, Stalwart Guard or Dark Deal. Of those Trap is the only one that deals damage. Not only does it deal damage but it also happens to be 1 of the strongest DOTs in the game .

i actually prefer velothi mythic, which is 100% uptime on minor force

personally i dont like trap, it feels horribly clunky to use, requires being melee unless you use the lightweight trap (which has its own issues with trying to use the ground targeting circle to place it which slows it down)

it also has the arming time before it can actually hit something which adds to the clunkyness for me, and delays when minor force is actually active (you do not get minor force unless the trap hits something)

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Yes. Exactly. The confusion of the newbie discovering there are things that must be on the bars for reason only of buffs, things they'd maybe not pick because they didn't like the feel of it or wasnt fun...... it's actually a very bizarre way to do combat.

    I'll poke my idea here.
The ability to slot activated abilities as passives, with the same amount of slots per bar as casting slots.
The cost would be in a variety of ways.
Slotted Effects could be slotted for free.
Activated Effects would reduce max resource, thereby reducing damage output, to gain its effects in another way. Buff would almost be at all times, but some would be proc, especially if deemed too OP as constant or if the cost isn't high enough to be constant.

I could give some examples if you want.

I wish I could Build and Test it in the PTS.
Then it could be less theoretical because I'd be able to make evidence of functionality.

.. there's something about this tired old meta that won't change very much. That is the need to slot certain abilities for them 'to just be there' for their passive effects, that kind of design is simply not fun. Abilities like Flawless Dawnbreaker, Beast Trap, Camouflaged Hunter etc. At the very least give us alternatives, or in the case of ultimates.. make other weapon or class ults more appealing. Was also hoping for some change or cool addition for Vampires, but alas.

    @ZOS_Kevin

I definitely would like to see all of these skills retired and replaced with new best in slot skills that have updated visuals and sounds. These are old vanilla launch day skills that we still have to run even on the newest classes like Arcanist in order to reach meta DPS. Scribing should replace all of them.

The best way out of this mess of combat buffs driving how we build and fight rather than the fun of it, and the extraordinary volumes of code stopping all hopes of change, is that the new engine and 'new game' is a reformed ESO.

Highly unlikely, but seeing how Zeni always like to play safe.. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of "ESO 2" happening. The IP is the only thing that keeps this game afloat, so unless they've acquired an equally powerful IP - making a completely new one in this economy would be pretty stupid of them.

Anyway, the combat is bad in ESO, things like sound design, animations, weaving etc. play a part, then there's the way we have to slot stuff like that and buffing. It's really bad, which is a shame, because it could have been great.

It's only bad because of streamers and game-aholics finding the greatest ways to screw the system.
The general player can't find these parts without watching streamers tell them how to play.
Those of us who are disgusted by streamers avoid their builds like the plague and and up in the rut because we have to use the META builds of their to compete against them.
Even so, there are those who run META and cannot compete against a build-less person because their ISP is so bad. That would be my case. Seriously, I can't run 30 seconds without some sort of lag spike. A single wrong move is death, and lag spike counts as at least 10 wrong moves. Thus, it's hopeless for me to compete in anything.
It's not like I can change my ISP either. Centurylink is the only ISP that services this area. Dad managed to get 15Mbps out of them a long time ago, but they keep trying to reduce us to 3Mbps.
    There's nothing we can do.
There's no one else we can use.
And, on top of pathetic (but functional for most cases) speeds, I'm not really bothered by the speeds BTW, It's the lag spikes and intermittent drops that concern me. That is the only issue that I really encounter.

Due to this, I have to find passive ways of surviving. Things a skill-less person can use to survive, because when I get a lag spike, if I can't survive skill-less-ly, it's game over.
Thus, I've made a block build around Hews of the Harbinger, and I'm making a Meditate build on a Sorc.
Whatever I can to survive while technically offline due to lag spikes.
In spite of Centurylink's horrible service.

But the common META builds require good connections and good timing, something Centurylink's terrible service denies me. I cannot maintain any buffs or debuffs because it takes 2 seconds to cast an instant ability, again due to Centurylink's terrible service.
I'm lucky if I can last 15 seconds, even on my block build.
On natural characters, I'm lucky if I survive a single hit.
It's only rookies I can really duel, mostly by them killing themselves on my Harbinger.

As for Centurylink, I've called them out hundreds of times over the past several years and they can never find a problem.
I can't wait for *** to bring Fiber down here, but they are waiting on the Hawaiian to respond to their easement request. By that I mean the person lives in Hawaii. The property in question is Floridian. It's been about a year and no response. *** has pretty much given up and is moving on to other areas.

Anyone else have these problems? ISP causing issues or anything? Or am I the only one?

Last 15 seconds or 1 second is PvP.
In PvE, as long as it's not a DLC zone, I am very survivable. It's one shot mechanics that give me trouble but half the time I can survive that too. Latest DLC stuff still knocks me out though.

Usually when these summer patches hit there’s a huge crowd of people grinding to get the latest thing. This might be one of the rare patches where lots of people won’t grind for anything, since DPS builds don’t seem to be changing.

Should be interesting for player retention.

When your veterans have no reason to interact with the chapter system, they don’t purchase it or even play the patch… we saw this with High Isle and Tales of Tribute.

Lowest numbers in a long time that update, and now we’re getting a system that’s useless for a large group of players on launch.

Scribing is awesome for PVP. I finally can get a skill that's the missing piece of my build.
