is there a scribing alternative to give major resolve?

I'm sick of every group requiring a warden healer for the group wide major resolve (and minor toughness), can any of the new abilities be altered to provide this buff?

    pretty sure all classes already have this buff built in some way, not sure why you would need a scribing skill for it

    i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

    my 2 main dps toons (templar and arcanist) have other utility on the resolve skills where it makes sense to run it in group content (templar utility is heal + sustain, arcanist is crux generation)

    Unless I've missed a skill, only two Scribing skills can give you Major Resolve (Wield Soul and the 1H/S skill).

    With Wield Soul, you could create something like this for example:

    I'm not sure the others in this thread understood what your question was lol. Most DDs are not running a major resolve skill in an organized raid except in certain circumstances and if the warden healer is reliable with cloak, tanks can even drop their personal resolve skill for more utility or healing. Obviously in pug groups, the rules are different and every class does have access to their own personal resolve.

    You can't give group-wide major resolve with any of the new skills - with wield soul with the damage shield or healing focus scripts, you can give resolve to yourself OR an ally (for 10 seconds lol) and you can get personal resolve with wield soul with any of the other focus scripts or the sword and board skill. So obviously, those are not very useful and I don't see them being used. Warden healers/tanks will be part of most comps in organized raids because of this and minor toughness which has no other source besides a useless overland set that only gives it to the wearer.

    I'm hopeful they'll add more utility to the new scribing skills as they add them to the game in future patches to add more versatility to the game and fix a lot of the meta pigeonholing they've established.

    From what I saw, no.
    Wield Soul and Shield Throw provide Major Resolve, but its single target. All other skills either provide Minor Resolve or Minor Protection. Minor Resolve is already provided by Combat Prayer.

    No one misunderstood, but organized raids are a fraction of the content in this game.

    Being able to put Major Resolve on a DoT or Spammable is huge for PvP. It means you don't necessarily need a warden healer in a group, and have extra bar space when running solo.

    Thank you. Sad news. Forcing healers into one class is not okay. This is THE most limiting thing i have come across in the game and scribing is a golden opportunity for them to address the issue.

    I guess we have to wait 5 years for the next new class and PRAY it is a second source.

    I mean, if the aesthetic of your classes major resolve doesn't fit your character fantasy and you don't need balance for any reason other than the major resolve, I can see why someone would want a scribing skill that applies it. Class buffs/abilities that change the visuals of my character in a way that doesn't fit my idea of what my character is are 100% of the reasons I run oakensoul on any character regardless of whether or not I'm playing a heavy attack build so I get it.

    Why does a DPS need Mayor Resolve is my first question.

    If you need Mayor Resolve as DPS, you can wear the Chudan set, it gives big amount armor and health in addition to Mayor Resolve.
    Also you can slot Mayor Resolve, if you really need it. Or use other layer of defenses like blocking, damage shields, 1h+shield, dodge roll, or simply move out of danger zone. Also bufffood may help.

    There's the necro skill heal morph that grants resistances equal to half the heal to the target. Still single target but the resistance is not from a named buff, so it can be higher than AND stack with both resolve buffs.

    You can make essence of health potions with bugloss+mountain flower+mudcrab chitin. You get immediate health restored and Major Fortitude, 5260 spell resistance, and 5260 physical resistance for 47+ seconds. Again the resistances are not from a buff, and are the older base value of Major Resolve. But that also means it can stack on top of both resolves, if not just replace a skill/gear piece. It also runs a full potion cooldown duration so you can have resolve equivalent resistances and increased health recovery up all the time from simply sustaining pots. As for groupwide utility, you could simply make them and destribute them out before engaging into combat. No, its not a preferable method of organizing a raid, but at least it is supplying the group with utility and health that doesn't occupy bar space or gear slot, has the longest duration at base before enchants, and stacks. Oakensoul builds will benefit as well rather than be a sinkhole for healers. So if 100% efficiency really makes your healers' day this is one way to ward off any sense of uselessness.

    This is not areally an alternative as this means your damage dealers can't use weapon power or heroism potions.

    I guess the warden healer will continue to be mandatory for all organized trials still.

    Dk spike armor is weak it scales off resistance
    Same goes for warden it only gives group buffs
    Sorc does damage and scales off damage which is needed for most builds
    Nightblade already has it in its passive durning their rotation
    Templar is rune needed for substain and healing with bonus healing if on the rune. Not needed sometimes
    Necromancy has pull or cost reduction with class skills. Mostly not needed


    Overall sorc and nightblade are winners in needing it in their bar or forced like nightblade passive.

    Spike armor use to be good return damage and aoe DoT. But not anymore

    Templars if using jab already got minor protection 100% of the time

    Wardens got minor toughness if they heal

    Necro got passive for more hp. But it isn’t much.

    I mean technically, you don’t need major resolve. You also don’t need the warden to be a healer. Also, today’s meta has all the DPS running major resolve anyways, no? (templars get it from their sustain skill, sorcs get it from hurricane, and arcanists will slot cruxweaver for crux gen in fights they take damage

    Edit: forgot about the z’ens DK… but still, that’s 3 players out of 12 that wouldn’t have major resolve.)

    You certainly don’t NEED a warden healer, I’ve been in runs where the healers are 1 nb, 1 arcanist. If you want to heal, you can be “the not warden” healer anyways.

    i feel like this problem could also be solved by doing stuff like making frost cloak not completely useless to slot for warden dps. since right now all of warden's utility is only really easily done by healers or tanks and it's nearly entirely impossible to reasonably access as a dps which leaves us unwanted in groups since our damage is also historically not comparable to other classes. maturation's minor toughness is really really hard to apply to your group if you're just a dps trying to squeeze out as much damage as possible since the condition is you healing that person specifically to apply it to them. other classes have the ability to do this by performing a simple action like dealing critical damage for example, and everyone around you just gets it without needing to slot a garbage skill. speaking of which, nature's gift is a passive that dps specifically can't gain without needing to slot a green balance skill and cast and heal with it. you might say that that's an easy solution that you can fix by just slotting something like lotus blossom, however, lotus blossom is garbage at appling maturation, and while it might proc natures gift, you're also giving up a valuable damage over time skill to gain a small heal that sometimes applies to you, sometimes applies to other people and generally isn't that valueable. the only benefit it provides for dps is the major crit buff, which you already get from potions.

    While I understand that every portion of this game believes themselves to be the largest and only meaningful portion of the community, those of us in endgame PvE would still like to be considered when new skills are dropped. I don't think it's such a huge ask to have Major Resolve available for group usage on a scribing skill. That being said, none of the meaningful buffs in scribing are currently usable for raiding because they only impact a max of 6 players per cast, and it's not a smart cast, meaning it's impossible to ensure all 12 people will receive the buff.

    OP was very obviously asking for a skill consideration based on the current needs of 12 person raid teams, where Warden healers have been the meta since shortly after Wardens were introduced in Morrowind. I think it would be prudent to hear them out, as this is a long standing issue that hasn't been addressed in actual years.
