Do you like the (relatively) new delve and public dungeon style?

I don’t like the thought of missing an area and get confused easily so relatively linear is best for me. I’m not keen on having different levels either.

There are a couple of delves and locations in Apocrypha, like Quires and those ones with lots of portals and I do get mild panic when I can’t work out how to get to the quest location. There have been occasions where I have got so lost I have to port out because I can’t find the exit.

Most of the base game delves (especially caves) are plain ring tunnells with a blocked exit door near the entrance. And very small at that. I certainly don't like such dumbed down design.

This will probably be a very unpopular opinion, but: I don't think skyshards should be easy to get.

Another unpopular opinion? I like complex delves, it makes them more interesting (for me).

I tend to agree, but the trend over the last many years with gamers is that they don't want to spend a lot of time solving problems, and getting to skyshards and bosses are a problem. The trend is to want the reward, not the problem.

I don't want my bosses and skyshards to be hanging out in a conveniently constructed delve.

That said, I also don't want to try and sort through a path of twisting passages that cannot be represented on a map. If I get turned around, I want to be able to refer to the map and not have to wander around trying to find a place where the map is useful.

I like both options, but I also wish we could find "leads" that take you to a dungeon entrance for a one off, instanced dungeon.... similar to the maps in Daggerfall, and built somewhat along the lines of a stage of the Endless Archive/Infinite Archive - several areas each with a sub-boss, with one final boss, and maybe a decent treasure item...... or even use it to hide other leads, or scripts, etc.

I think they some of the DLC PDs could do with increasing the mob density a bit, the ones in Blackwood and High Isle specially, but otherwise I like the more creative layouts in both delves and PDs.

Except Moonlit Cove. Moonlit Cove has to stand in the naughty corner.

Some of the bigger ones are fine. Others just showcase just how bad the map in this game actually is.

No, I do not like complex delves and public dungeons

Some of delve and public dungeon have interesting story quest,
But I don't want too much twisted level design for every dungeon.

    [reason 1]
After the first run, SkyShard farming become painful job for building second characters.
I don't want to spend time for painful repeating fatigue.

    [reason 2]
ESO combat design doesn't have elevation tactics. Most of it's running on the flat ground.
There're not much meaning to build too much complex level design anyway.

    [reason 3]
ESO has extremely grinding game mechanics for lower level players.
If grouping event of public dungeon has massive amount of XP, then
people will spend time for it, but actually not. So just leave it as simple
    grind space.

    [reason 4]
"Daily mission" or "Endeavor" This is problem.
I spend huge time for daily zone Delve mission to get special
housing object. It's just "pain". I don't want to loiter complex maze
    just only for daily job.
    My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
    I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]
    with [1Stam Blade].
But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

This game doesn't reward exploration. There's nothing interesting in ESOs dungeons, so I prefer small ones in these circumstances.

Gorne is the worst one I've ever been in. It's a real nightmare of dead ends and multiple levels and the map is not helpful at all. And to make it worse it's part of unlocking Sharp, so I had to do it multiple times so all my alts would have access to this Companion.

the part for sharp was pretty easy, you just have to take the left path on entrance and go straight up, dont have to go anywhere else in the public dungeon

but i would agree that just having to go into a public dungeon at all for unlocking the companion is ridiculous and one reason i wont bother doing it on more characters than i have done it already (only 3 of 11 lol)

Well the bace game delves and dungeons were often far to simple. Especially the delves were often just coppy paste, despite beeing reworked shortly after release of the bace game.

Cool dungeosn were always among the most fun content in any TES game so having better delves and open dungeons is a big plus in my book! I love cool locations to explore! However the trash mobs inside often are less of a cool challange but just an annoying hassel on the way to the boss/skyshard. Also the respawn timers for the bosses are often frustrating when someone else has just killed the boss when you arrive.

However I agree that some delves & open Dungeons have the problem that you do not know where you run into a dead end thanks to hight differences. So maps that make that better visible are defenetly welcome additions.

I'd also love to see harvestably crafting materials inside of delves just like in public dungeons. Of cause only in locations where it makes sence. And why not adding crafting material nodes to normal (4 player) dungeons as well.

In addition some solo or scalable (1-4 player) dungeons that offer an expirience more akin to Skyrims and Oblivions dungeons are additions I'd welcome. Normal (4 player) dungeons sometimes have mecanics that are (at least for me) not playable alone. I love going dungeons, but I personally do not always want to serch for and ajust to a group. Sometimes I simply want to explore a cool dungeon, instead of rushing to it's end. Also an option to replay a dungeons quest, that you missed since you had a rush group when you compleated it.

This is an mmorpg, and we're talking about ESO players, most just want to tune-out while playing, it comes to no surprise that there are so many that prefer more.. simple layouts. It's hard to get immersed in ESO like in other games, there's very little sense of exploration and danger while adventuring, so I really have to try. Playing in first person and navigating those more complex delves is something I enjoy doing.

Also, let's be honest -- just like most things in this game, there are no incentives to actually go through the trouble, it's press Start to Win Games, get your shard and gtfo.

I’d like the complex ones better if this were a single player game and not an MMO. The issue is that I have to navigate the complex ones multiple times for alts/daily quests etc., so instead of exploring a vast new labyrinth - which to be clear, I do enjoy in other games - it becomes the video game equivalent of a long, complicated commute to work. It’s not fun after the first time, it’s just long and tedious.

Also, since this is an MMO the monsters respawn regularly. If it were Skyrim once they were all dead they’d leave me alone to poke around in corners until I eventually found the path I needed, and might even provide clues - ‘hey, there are monsters over there that aren’t dead, I must not have checked that corner yet!’ Instead I have to re-kill them every five minutes or so, further dragging out the slog, or try to run past everything until they lose interest, which is immersion-breaking.

Post AwA everything is one and done so no, I much prefer to run in/out spending minimal time.

In the past, there was more incentive for me with multiple characters to spend the time and explore but now all these later delves/public dungeons seem to me is a way to obfuscate the 'get the skyshard [and skill point]' that such content ultimately reduces to.

The newer delvs and public dungeons tend to send me (cursing) to YouTube to figure out how to get to the skyshard or complete them. Therefore, I dislike them compared to their counterparts in the original game zones. In the old original zones, the only such dungeon I quite dislike is the public dungeon in Coldharbour - for exactly the same reason.

To be honest, I hated Ayelid ruins and cave delving in Oblivion and Dwemer ruins and cave delving in Skyrim too. I think I’m just not a fan of caves and overland combat regardless of what TES game it is. (Reasons to be a sneak archer with Inigo… lol.)

So did I by and large. And in Skyrim I fixed that with a mod for a WAY OP bow, and sneak archer it was. Still go back to Skyrim for my "sneak archer from VERY LONG RANGE" fix....
