how on earth is 8 not enough... lol, I can't even find enough time to play my one toon.
Me Neither, but some people are altaholics, and if they have another 4 (12 in total) they can do each class in each faction.

Not saying I want that many, in fact 4 is enough for me, one for each class, faction stuff is the same for every class so I'm not repeating (except for my nightblade).
Fair enough, altaholics need a support group.
Altaholics Anonymous, the initials would be AA (oh wait, in Britian AA has already been taken, by the Automobile Association)

You do realize that crafting supplies are dependent on your level. Having a bunch of very low level alts with hireling will net you some ore, maple wood, Jute, level 1 runes and stones if you are lucky. Not exactly game breaking or useful really.

Wow, I’ve been away for the past week and I come back and there’s finally some interest on this topic. :D

Although it seems that half the comments are from those that don’t understand the reasoning for being an altoholic, as it such an outlandish thing to do apparently. And there is also a good portion that are just assuming that I have malicious intent.... >:)

So I thought I’d try to clarify things to get this thread back on track.

In every MMO I play I always like to have a character of every race and class, for example in SWTOR I have 16 characters all above level 40. In ESO it was really a no brainer for me to create 12 characters, as I wanted each character to be specialized in one of the 12 sub classes. There are also 9 Races to play as plus the Imperials, so I decided that I would have one imperial in each of the 3 Alliances. There are 6 crafts, so I planned that each of my characters would specialize in 2 different crafts each. Also 4 of my characters would be Vampires, 4 would be Werewolves, and 4 would remain “normal”.

Currently I have 3 characters at level 27 and the other 5 are level 11. I know a lot of people think it’s strange to play alts but I also find it equally strange to only play one character, as you only get to experience a small portion of the gameplay on offer. And I would quickly get bored of the game just constantly playing the same character over and over. Playing with alts keeps the game fresh and ensures that I will be playing the game for a long time to come.

Hopefully the above explains sufficiently why I would like to have more character slots.

Now to those here that are constantly making assumptions towards people posting their opinions might have some kind of malicious intent. My advice is to do what I do and always read every post on a forum as though it is from somebody that is ignorant and naive, or else you will just end up with constant unconstructive flaming. And this is the reason many people, including myself aren't spending much time on this particular forum, as they keep getting accused of having malicious intent for their opinions. This really needs to stop, and I encourage those here that would like to have a mature and friendly ESO community that actually discusses the topics in a civil and constructive manner, to start calling out these guys in a reply to their flame bait posts with these two words... “Please explain.”

I don’t want more character slots, so that I can horde and mule more items, I’ve figured out how to sufficiently manage my Inventories for all 8 of my character, and I have a link in my sig for those that would like to know how I achieved this.

I don’t want more character slots, so that I can more easily Gold Farm Bot. And I don’t see how having more character slots would help in that regards anyways, for those that did do that kind of thing. Maybe @SirAndy could “Please explain” why more character slots would be beneficial to “Gold Farm Botters”?

I also don’t want more character slots to get more out of the Hireling system, as I had presumed that the Hireling chests were tied to the level of the character the Hireling belongs to.....

But... I found out almost 2 weeks ago that this is not in fact the case.

For some unfathomable reason the Devs decided that Hireling chests do not correspond to the level of each character that the Hireling belongs to, instead they actually correspond to the character that opens the chest. Which is absolutely stupid and I now call for the Devs to not give us the option to purchase character slots because of this, or else the games economy would become even more broken than it currently is. Because as it currently stands you can very easily acquire large amounts of "rare" crafting materials, and therefore make at least 100,000 gold a week with this current Hireling System, as you can see in this very informative vid:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNYFSIYXBxw

The Devs were notified about this over 2 weeks ago, and they haven’t said or done anything about it, so it looks like the current Hireling System is working as intended. :|

TL;DR: I no longer believe that we should have the option to purchase more character slots, as I believe that it would ruin this games economy due to the nonsensical Hireling System. I also encourage everybody to read every post on a forum as though it is from somebody that it Ignorant and Naive, instead of immediately jumping to the conclusion that they have malicious intent.

    Great news guys!

It looks like the Devs have decided that the current Hireling System is indeed really stupid, and are now going to make it so that Hireling Chest are tied to the level of the character that the hireling chest belongs to:

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/95810/hirelings-and-pts-patch-notes-v1-1-1

So once this is fixed in the v1.1.1 update, I can really see no reason for the Devs to not implement an option for us to purchase more Character Slots.

Unless anybody else here can see any reason/s for the Devs to not give us this option?

I've made my first 8 characters, but would really like to create another 4 more, and was very surprised that there is no option to purchase more character slots.

I'm assuming this will be implemented very soon as there is a huge market for altoholics like myself willing to spend money on extra characters, and I'm baffled that there is currently no option for this when almost all MMO's I've played have this option.

By the way where exactly is the Cash Shop in this game? Has it not been implemented yet?

I really wish people would stop with all these cash shop threads..

the only reason for a cash shop is pay to win.
Maybe the OP is really just after the option to buy more character slots.
However, once the shop opens, it never goes away, and it never stops adding.
Cash shops exist in all the F2P games, if you must sate yourself spending more money than a sub rate, do indeed go shop yourself to glory.
    Just not in ESO please.

Need to add, cash shop = F2P = Death of game.

This is not true of all cash shops. Not all of them equate to play to win. Some great games have them selling only fluff items, server transfers, mounts, change of name, extra character slots and such, none of which are game advancement items.

Yeah I can totally understand why a lot of people wouldn't want or be very wary of a Cash Shop, as it usually leads to the Dark Side that is F2P.

But I posted this thread back when this game was first released, and I knew that there was supposed to be a place for us to purchase a Horse and upgrade to the Imperial Edition, and at the time the ESO Store site hadn't been implemented: https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store

And I assumed that the ESO Store would be the most likely place where Purchasing Character Slots would be found, if/when they actually give us this option.

While I wont argue with you, though I have no knowledge of such a game.
I am really loathe to say this, but.
I can only see the evil to come as those cute little perk items quickly turn into more bank space stones, 'special now' items and more and more.
Nope, totally bad idea to add anything via real money. That is a slippery slope with a requirement of willpower to not succumb to the lure of easy money.
I don't think the producers here have the fiber to not go down that slope once the lure is there.

Getting another account is an option for more toons, but unfortunately, additional costs in a sub as well. But its just a thought.

im thinking the same with the hirelings, if we are to be able to buy more alts, Im voting the hirelings skills needs to be starting from lvl 25 or something like that first, so people cant make alts just for that.
Not sure I really get the issue with hirelings, ok if you use more alts you get more hirelings, which means you can craft more. So what, you can only wear one set of armour at a time, use two sets of weapons, etc. So all you can do really is sell the extras, which brings in gold, which does very little (horses, repairs, and pack upgrades).

I just for the life of me can't see how this is pay to win, pay for a bit of conveniennce yes, but no major advantages shoot out at me (which is what pay to win means).

You can pay real money for some Chinese hirelings.
