I had 40 characters in City of Heroes across 4 servers, 32 on one server alone, it was all about trying new powerset combos.
Here, I could see a justification for the 12 character slots (total) that the OP is requesting. There are 3 factions times 4 classes equals 12 slots. You could even make an argument for races too, but really I think that most people will go with whatever is good for the class (note I said most).
I don't really see the need to mule anything (except the CE maps). There is enough storage and it's so easy to collect things that whenever I come to town I just provision what I can and sell the other provisioning things. I keep a stack of crafting mats in the bank (except provisioning and alchemy which I sell or give to guild mates) and sell off the excess.
Don't quite see it as F2P, more like a beta with half the features missing, game does need a store, and the bugs fixing, and more styles to craft, etc.Blackwidow wrote: »Am I the only one who sees ESO as a premade F2P game?
Limited character slots, no bank space, expensive over top mounts, etc.
When they go F2P, they sure will have a lot of ways to make money.
Different games have different amounts of character slots. EQ2 gives you seven total with your account. You can buy more for real money. Most games make you buy additional slots for real money, so I don't understand the "give me more slots for free" chatter. We will probably see this pop up on the ZOS store once things settle down. They need to work out the issues in game first.

And Mark, if you want free extra slots you probably need to quit MMOs. I haven't seen one yet that gives you an in-game way of earning extra slots. (Well, Turbine games, but they nickel and dime you to death in other ways.)
Swtor sells them via Cartel Market, which you can access in game, you used to be able to buy the cartel coins in game too(via credit card, but you didn't need to do it via website), but I think they shut that down. And Mark, if you want free extra slots you probably need to quit MMOs. Why can't they at least do like DAoC did? DAoC allowed 8 (I think) characters per realm per server. This game only has two megaservers, but I would think they should at least be able to give us 8 characters per alliance on each megaserver.
Shouldn't be hard to add alliance selection to the character select screen. Click on DC? Show your 8 DC characters. Click on AD? Show your 8 AD characters. Click on EP? Show your 8 EP characters.
Seems simple enough to me.
And this should be for free, not a cash shop option. The sub fee should cover additions like this.

Me Neither, but some people are altaholics, and if they have another 4 (12 in total) they can do each class in each faction.roflcopter wrote: »how on earth is 8 not enough... lol, I can't even find enough time to play my one toon.

I don't believe I've seen a subscription game that requires you to pay for extra character slots... we're paying $15/month for a reason. As soon as they start adding content that you have to pay real money for, that sub fee becomes excessive.

Fair enough, altaholics need a support group.AlexDougherty wrote: »Me Neither, but some people are altaholics, and if they have another 4 (12 in total) they can do each class in each faction.roflcopter wrote: »how on earth is 8 not enough... lol, I can't even find enough time to play my one toon.
Not saying I want that many, in fact 4 is enough for me, one for each class, faction stuff is the same for every class so I'm not repeating (except for my nightblade).
NO NO NO. That would turn the game into p2w automatically because of the hirelings.
On the other hand more inventory space is certainly required.
Of course if you want more inventory space for money feel free to spend an extra $60 +$15/month.
