I noticed this depends largely on how each individual "utilized" the current still working animation canceling/block DPS "combo".
There are ofc some skill/class combinations that are better than others. I wonder how NB compare after 1.1.1+ with some of the bash/animation canceling fixed. Many DK can "weave" there skills quite effectively atm, not sure how they compare after the fixes.
I tested many skills and weapons and it always seems that if i put the values into my spreadsheet, one skill/combo outperforms most others by far.
As example "Pulsar" is the most "effective" ae spam skill u can use. Power Extraction and Acid Spray come in second place, closely followed by Carve and Shrouded Daggers.

The make me overpowered thread or I will leave the game is pathetic but already what you guys have resorted to. Good ridden imo.
L2P. Maybe the devs can make some changes but compensate with a significant nerf to NB single target dps. For balance reasons.
If I remember correctly, I thought I saw something in the Reddit AMA that they would be toning down the vet content slightly? Having just hit VR3 on my NB (only character), I've already respecced twice. The Medium armor, bow/duel wield build I had leveling up just does not cut it anymore. The new build I'm running has yielded much more success but now I'm in full light armor, running a bow/destroy staff. Not what I had envisioned when I created him. That's not to say I'm not enjoying the build, because I am. What I'm saying is that I shouldn't be forced out of a playstyle due to broken skills and lackluster survivability.

This. 100 times this. "The class is fine l2p" crowd all play extremely similar builds and live in an ivory tower in which everything is totally fine.

You find what works. All to often people envision themselves as only playing one spec and demanding it excel at everything. It is stupid and has no place in these games.
NB has the tools. It just requires a player with adequate skill to use them.
I know all if you want to be NB unkillable masters of aoe, cc, single target damage, with the ability to stay perm stealth and never die in one spec at all times. Thank god for us this will never happen.
So keep crying. It is falling on deaf ears.

This thread is so funny. I say good riddens to all of you whiners. I am sure Hello Kitty mmo could be a great fit for all of you.

I am pretty annoyed with Nightblade gameplay. Trying to play an Altmer Nightblade, that will eventually go vamp. I might have one set of skills for siphon blood Mage, but I still really just want to play a backstabbing rogue, but it's not working very viably. Sucks cuz it's really the only class I want to play.

Once you get vampirism you should be able to play that style. I do. I'm a dual wielding, all medium armor, mostly stamina based, vampire VR3 NB. The only class skill I use is ambush to open, then it's mostly rapid strikes. I use flying blade when I need a ranged attack and whirling blades for AoE (the damage on this one could be buffed a bit, but used with devouring swarm works well). Invigorating drain and devouring swarm keep you alive though, I don't think I'd do well specced like this without being a vampire as the syphon abilities don't heal as well from my experimenting.
There are certain mobs that are harder, and I do die, but this setup has worked for me and I don't feel like it's too hard for me to progress (I've never respecced ). I would say that this play style requires a bit more finesse though, and I don't just mean blocking/interrupting. Assessing each group you are going to attack, deciding which needs to be taken out first, etc. Not just running into the group and spamming.

While it's true you don't have to play it that way, it is the default setup.
Create a new NB and cycle through the armor options. You're shown in full leather w/ dual daggers. If you don't think that means anything, then take a look at our class lines. Aside from having a line actually named "Assassination"...we have several actives and passives that involve stealth.
Master Assassin
Shadow Barrier
Surprise Attack / Concealed Weapon.
Ambush doesn't need to be used from stealth, but it certainly implies it. You don't ambush someone while in plain sight...
I doubt anyone who didn't have previous insight into this class picked it with the intention of using a staff.
My problem with the class is that it feels overwhelmingly mediocre.
Our single target dps basically consists of turning on Siphoning Strikes and spamming Surprise Attack and a sta dump. While this gives good numbers it's F'ing ***.
Stealth and invisibility are gimmicks. In pve they are really just for RP and in RvR you can have entire zergs stealthed in crouch mode. Any class can stealth and one shot a mob from stealth. There are also potions that will provide invisibility.
But really why bother sneaking up and killing 1-2 mobs in a stealthy manner at all when you can just run in gather up 6+ and AOE them down?
NBs can AOE well enough I suppose, but don't think its anywhere close to what a Sorc or DK can do.
And that's pretty much the crux of the matter. A NB can do decent, but anything the NB can do another class can do equally or better. Most people haven't realized this or just refuse to.

Pathetic.
