Hello guys,

I make this topic to get your thoughts on ESO's tenth anniversary, and the Jubilee event that's currently ongoing.

Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was hoping that ZOS would thank players with some valuable in-game gifts, as they already did in the past with community events. For example, a house, an epic mount, etc.

I know there's the event in Amsterdam, but I'm talking about in-game stuff here.

From what I've seen, we won't get anything special. All we get is a mount that's a simple reskin of the Nibenese stallion you can get by farming the event...

s0ext8b775xe.jpg697ss67ba7e8.png

I must admit I'm (really) disappointed. I'm not criticizing the devs, as it's certainly not their choice, but... Every week the crown store fills up with incredible new mounts... Why not offering one of them instead of this reskined one?

TESO has made two billion dollars in ten years. That's around 550,000 dollars a day. That's thanks to the community. Many of us have invested alot of time and money over the years. And receiving a reskin of a thing that's been around for years for the tenth anniversary... Well, I find it not very ambitious.

Wasn't it possible to offer something a little bit more attractive?

What do you think about it ?

Thanks a lot!

The 5th year anniversary was much better. The rewards weren't such a massive grind as it is now.

I agree with OP. I'm not impressed with either of those 2 mounts, anyway.

As a ESO+ subscriber, I continually get annoyed at seeing all the nice stuff (including houses) appear in the Crown store, and being told we have to shell out even more cash to purchase them.

Indeed, but why didn't they keep giving us really nice daily rewards this month ?

As you said, past couple of months they gave us a mount, crown crates and even a DLC. But for April - which is their 10th anniversary month - they give useless stuff again.

Who really cares about getting tri-crown potions or a few pieces of dreugh wax ?

It would look lot better if tickets weren't that heavily limited considering amount people would need to spend with event fragments, style, cakes and horse frags. Nothing personal, I know, but kinda too obvious of an attempt to reach the wallet like in a tram.

Definitely the only point. And the amsterdam event was disappointing too but very expensive. More 'it's all about the money'.
They even gave a speach there about how profitable this game is :|

I don't understand why they should give something special.

I play and pay extra because i like the game, not because i "support ZOS", for very few dollars (when i pay ESO+) they provide me with hours of entertainment, cheaper than going to the movies.

I have never thought that i deserve anything for spending 10 years with X brand.

I have been using hotmail for 30 years, i wonder what Microsoft will give me if i complain to them.

In 2 more years it will be the 20th anniversary of the Wii, i wonder what Nintendo will give me.

    I can't wait!

Yea, even the 12 tickets limit can be really annoying sometimes...

I don't really get the comparison here.

We're talking about a MMO, which is purely based on an active community keeping spending time and money in a game they love year after year.

Microsoft ? You just pay your licence and you are done.

Nintendo ? You pay your Wii and your games, and you are done.

For instance, I wasn't expecting anything for the 20th anniversary of Morrowind.

Here we are talking about a game that expressly base his success on his community and its capacity to keep the game profitable. And it's the reason why ZOS makes a yearly event for its anniversary. Because they know it's important to us.

They could just have done it way, way better this year.

I don't need them to give anything. Much of the things they've given haven't been anything I really want. I'd much rather buy things that fit my characters and their lives.

I really don't feel entitled to gifts - of course, I haven't been here 10 years yet.

Yeah, I'm not amazed by this 10 year anniversary event at all. It might be because I think all of the stuff on the event merchant currently sucks (was looking forward to the personality, but then I saw how odd the idle is with the arms crossed so high up like a genie and no thanks).... but even the new stuff like the RNG+bound style pages. I mean, there's one that appeals to me and it's the Ul'vor Staff.
I tried farming for it a bit last night but then I realized what a terrible experience it was.... not sure who at Zenimax thought making a very rare item only drop from one very specific thing in one very specific zone was a good idea because doing geysers is a horrible time. Stuff dies so fast you can't even see the boss spawn and during the whole interaction the game stutters visually and audibly. Just have to throw down AOEs while watching and listening to the mess. -10/10 gameplay, and considering how rare these drops are said to be.... yeah, not sure how long I'll even want to attempt getting it since it feels like I'd have a better time watching paint dry.
The mount is also very disappointing. Like compared to the Hearthstone 10 year anniversary (was last month or something) mount in WoW.... it's really just sad.

In fact, I think many people are reasoning like this : ZOS don't owe us anything, and don't have to do anything more that what we're paying them for.

Yeah, it's true. At least partially.

If you think like that, then you shouldn't expect anything anymore. And in the end, you will probably have a dreary and perishing game that doesn't arouse interest and excitement.

For instance, I bet we got a new class last year with Arcanist because ZOS was aware of the fact that many people were waiting for it, and asking for it.

Did they have to do a new class ? No.

But was it appreciated by the community and seen as a mark of attention towards it ? I think so. Even if we know that it was a way to be sure ppl wouln't start fleeing, regarding the poor new content we've had during the past four years.

Of course they didn't have to make a huge in-game event for the 10th year. It doesn't mean they couldn't do it. And if they had done it, I'm pretty sure the community would have been grateful for it.

Just have a look at Larian Studios. They keep improving BG3 six months after its release, keeping adding new content for free and doing their best to improve the game and make the players happy (even if the game is already very good, not to say perfect). That's why ppl are so grateful to them.

Hum. ZOS has been showering us with awesome daily rewards and free giveaways for like three months now. You don't like the mount from this event, which is fair--I don't like every kind of reward, either.

What about the hundreds of extra seals of endeavors over the last few months?

The welwa mount and pet from last month's rewards? The costume and emote from this month?

The free DLC for ESO Plus subscribers in the last few weeks (which I myself missed, as it happened to fall into a gap in my subscription)?

ZOS doesn't really have to give us anything. But if you're feeling disappointed, that's okay too.

Seals of endeavors ? Yea, maybe. I'm personally not using them as it asks a huge time to farm them in order to get something really interesting.

Welwas ? Not joking, I already have nine welwas mounts in my collection. But why not.

Costume ? Same, already have tons of them.

    Emote ? What for ?

But I globally agree to say daily rewards from last couple of months were far better than usual. Which makes me wonder why they didn't keep doing it that way for April.

To be honest, I was kind of surprised they didn't have any really special daily rewards this month as opposed to the last three. If anything I would've thought the April ones would be special, celebrating the 10th anniversary.

Have to agree. Last months rewards were pretty decent.
This month however...coupled with what is a very lackluster Jubilee event not to mention very grindy for collectors.

It seems to me that the daily rewards have been more exciting since December, and then having an extra mount for Jubilee is new (usually there are the morphs and style pages). I wasn’t around for year 5, sadly, so I can’t compare to that, but it seems more than many years so me.

I feel like the gifts have been pretty good. I love the reskinned mount as it's one of the nicest horse models. So, it's nice to see a free one use a premium model. I already have the Nibenese but I'm hoping to get this one as well.

For the fifth anniversary, they did five weeks. Each week had a different theme, and you had to complete different types of dailies to get boxes. They also introduced the Five Companions outfit styles that year, with a different character's outfit dropping each week, if I remember correctly.

Honestly, five weeks was waaaaay too long for me and I burned out a little. I prefer this year's approach, even if I don't care for the new outfit style as much.

It's funny. The only other welwa I have is the nagahide welwa, so I was really happy to get some welwas that look like the ones in Craglorn.

That said...I have no real need for welwas. No idea if I'll ever even use 'em.

Every product, games, smartphones, computers, clothing, etc., bases its success on the community (customers).

It is no different here, this product has to be constantly renewed to keep its customers (catch new ones) and look for ideas to make them spend money.

Cool stuff is either locked behind the crown store or locked behind super challenging content. That is okay for the latter, we need stuff for players that enjoy that. I am a “casual” player. I’d love for more stuff to unlock by doing achievements like quests. I think they made the right step with the Necrom mount.
